Abstract

Science is one of the subjects that is still considered difficult for students to understand so students' mastery of concepts in the learning process is still lacking which causes low creativity and student learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the increase in creativity and learning outcomes of students on substance pressure material with the Mind Mapping learning method. This type of research is quantitative and descriptive using the Pre-Experimental method (One Group Pretest-Posttest Design). This research was conducted at MTsN 6 Kuta Baro East Aceh class VIII-3 with a sample of 20 students, sampling using the purposive sampling technique. The instruments used are observation sheets and test questions. The data analysis technique used is the N-gain test for learning outcomes and the percentage for creativity. The results showed that there was an increase in students' creativity and learning outcomes on the material pressure of substances using the Mind Mapping learning method. The increase in creativity of class VIII-3 students in making Mind Maps is included in the category of very good criteria, from 10% to 50%. The improvement of student learning outcomes in class VIII-3 based on the N-gain test is in the medium category, namely 0.7; 0.45; and 0.3

Abstract

The membrane is a semipermeable selective thin layer that is used as a barrier between two phases, the feed phase and the permeate phase. Several studies have been carried out on the synthesis of cellulose acetate membranes, but research on cellulose acetate membranes from nutmeg shell waste is still rare. Therefore, the characterization of cellulose acetate membrane from a nutmeg shell was conducted. This study aims to characterize cellulose acetate membranes from nutmeg shells using the phase inversion method with variations in the weight of cellulose acetate 0.1 and 0.2 grams. The plasticizers used are polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and dope solution. Characterization was carried out in thickness, tensile strength, morphology by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), functional groups, membrane permeability, rejection value, degree of swelling, and membrane standards. The results obtained for good morphological characterization were found in membranes number 2 and 4, the value of rejection and flux on membrane number 2 (t = 1 minute) was 31.1%, and the flux value was 4.6 L/m2.h for membrane number 3 (t) (t = 3 minutes) 31.6% and the flux value was 0.3 L/m2 per hour. The good thickness and strength of the membrane are found in the number 1 membrane, with a thickness of 0.11 mm and tensile strength of 3.06 MPa. Swelling degree and suitable membranes are found in membrane number 1, 59.52%, and 32.2%, respectively. The functional groups contained in the FTIR spectrum include the C – H group, which is located in the wave number range of 2959.79 cm-1, C = O is located at 1722.06 cm-1, C –O acetyl is located at 1271.04 cm-1 and C – O stretching is located at 1072.13 cm-1, and the presence of a PVC group is located at 742.12 cm-1. The conclusion is that membrane number 1 is good for further application.

Abstract

This study aims to categorise the clean and healthy lifestyles applied in Cot Sibati, Blang Krueng Village. The research subjects were ten 7 and 8 years-old children. The data collection method was descriptive qualitative, i.e. interview, observation and documentation. Given that only three out of eight indicators met the requirements, the results indicated that both clean and healthy living habit level was fairly poor. It could be concluded that these lifestyles have not been performed by the observed subjects that may be associated with the lack of information providing the importance of cleanliness and healthiness. Keywords: clean life behavior; healthy life behavior; clean life indicators; and healthy life indicators.

Abstract

This article aims to raise public awareness in maintaining a clean environment. Environmental cleanliness also plays a very important role in efforts to eradicate Covid-19, because without cleanliness and attention to the environment, this pandemic will never end. This community service-based research was conducted in Blang Krueng Village, Kec. Baitussalam, Aceh Besar uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The results of the study show that the awareness of the local community to maintain cleanliness and environmental sustainability still needs to be improved, especially related to the processing of waste and household waste.

Abstract

The wave energy power generation-pendulum system (WEPG-PS) is a four-wheeled instrument designed to convert wave power into electric energy. The first wheel is connected to the pendulum by a double freewheel, the second and third are ordinary wheels, while the fourth is a converter component that is axially connected to the electric generator. This design used the Euler-Lagrange formalism and Runge-Kutta method to examine an ideal dimension and determine the numerical solution of the equation of motion related to the rotation speed of the wheels. The result showed that the WEPG-PS' converter system rotated properly when its mass, length, and moment of inertia are 10 kg, 2.0 m, and 0.25 kgm2, respectively. This is in addition to when the radius of the first, second, third, and fourth wheels are 0.5, 0.4, 0.2, and 0.01 m, with inertia values of 0.005, 0.004, 0.003, and 0.1 kgm2. The converter system has the ability to rotate the fourth wheel, which acts as the handle of an electric generator at an angular frequency of approximately 500 - 600 rad/s. The converter system is optimally rotated when driven by a minimum force of 5 N and maximum friction of 0.05. Therefore, the system is used to generate electricity at an amplitude of 0.3 - 0.61 m, 220 V with 50 Hz. Besides, the lower rotation speed and frequency of the energy converter of the WEPG-PS (300 rad/s) and induction generator (50 Hz) were able to generate electric power of 7.5 kW.

Abstract

This research was a literature study that aims to understand the application of nanoparticles as heavy metal adsorbents, explore the role of nanoparticle technology in the context of environmental protection and human health, and identify effective nanotechnology. Industrial waste containing the heavy metal Fe can pose a serious threat to the environment and human health. In this study, we evaluated various literature sources discussing the use of nanoparticles, especially activated carbon, as effective adsorbents for removing heavy metals from water and waste. The results of literature studies show that the application of nanoparticles as adsorbents can increase the efficiency of filtration and heavy metal removal, which in turn contributes to environmental protection and human health. Additionally, this research identifies the important role of nanoparticle technology in various aspects, including water treatment, air pollution control, environmental monitoring, and the development of safer medicines. With proper application, nanoparticle technology can help reduce the risk of exposure to heavy metals and other pollutants, as well as improve water and air quality, which has a positive impact on human health and environmental sustainability. Identification of these most effective nanotechnologies can help guide the development of better solutions in the context of environmental protection and human health. This research provides deeper insight into the positive role of nanoparticle technology in addressing the environmental and health challenges faced by society.
