Abstract

Community knowledge regarding the use of traditional medicinal plants represents an important component of local wisdom that should be documented to support the conservation of biodiversity and the preservation of traditional healthcare systems. This study aims to inventory the medicinal plant species utilized by the people of Lumban Sipahutar, North Sumatra, Indonesia, and to document their botanical classification, plant parts used, preparation methods, and traditional medicinal applications. The research employed an ethnobotanical approach using a qualitative descriptive method. Data was collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, documentation, and morphological identification of plant specimens, which were subsequently classified taxonomically to the species level. The findings identified 16 medicinal plant species traditionally used by the local community for healthcare purposes. These species belong to various botanical families, with leaves being the most frequently utilized plant part, followed by rhizomes, stems, roots, fruits, and flowers. The plants are commonly prepared by boiling, pounding, infusion, or direct application. Most species are traditionally used to treat digestive disorders, respiratory ailments, fever, and wound-related conditions. The findings demonstrate that the people of Lumban Sipahutar continue to preserve a traditional healthcare system based on local biological resources, highlighting its potential contribution to biodiversity conservation and the development of phytopharmaceutical research in Indonesia.

The Community Service (PKM) Teaching Practice Activity as an Effort to Improve Skills and Experience aims to improve teachers' skills and understanding in compiling scientific papers according to academic principles. This activity is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed by teachers in the process of writing scientific papers, which is an important aspect in the development of educator professionalism. PPL (Field Experience Practice) is a method of equipping educational students while preparing them to become professional educational personnel. On this occasion I chose to do field experience practice at SMA Swasta Teladan Pematangsiantar which is located at Jl.Singosari No.03 Kel.Bantan, West Siantar, Pematang Siantar. and has been approved by the UHN PPL coordinator to host PPL in 2025. The purpose of the PPL program is to provide opportunities for students to learn about experiencing and living in schools or learning problems related to institutions: improving students' ability to apply knowledge and Field Experience Practice (PPL) which will be completed in February 2025 includes the implementation of guided PPL 1 time. Although there are several challenges, the Field Experience Practice (PPL) Activities at SMA Swasta Teladan Pematangsiantar went smoothly. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance of Civic Education lecturers based on student perceptions as a form of learning quality evaluation in higher education. The study uses a quantitative approach with an evaluative survey design, involving 84 active students from the Elementary School Teacher Education and Mechanical Engineering Study Programs at HKBP Nommensen University Pematangsiantar, who were selected purposively. The research instrument was a closed questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale referring to five dimensions of service quality (SERVQUAL), namely teaching readiness, teaching materials, teaching discipline, teaching evaluation, and lecturer personality. The results showed that lecturer performance was generally rated as good to very good, as indicated by the dominance of “Appropriate” and “Very Appropriate” responses across all aspects assessed. These findings indicate that lecturers have carried out the learning process in a planned, consistent manner and in accordance with student needs, so that the results of this study can be used as feedback for lecturers and institutions in their efforts to continuously improve the quality of learning.
