Abstract

Background: Children under five years old (Balita) are susceptible to health risk and malnutrition. Research Purpose: This research aims to identify the relation of the level of mother’s knowledge, infectious diseases, and the eating habit culture to the nutrirtional status of childrean under five years old in the coastal areas of Kecamatan Soropia. Research Method:The research design using the quantative and cross-sectional analytic. Implemented on October - December 2017 in the coastal areas of Kecamatan Soropia specifically at Sorue Jaya Villlage, Mekar Village, Saponda Darat Village, and Saponda Laut Village. Sampling technique using stratified random sampling with the total of the samples are 93 children under five years old. Data obtained through interviews using instrument quesioner and weight measurement then would be read by using Z-score table to determine the nutritional status (BB/U). Data analysis using chi-square statistical test (0,05). Research Result: Result of the research indicates that the factors related to nutritional status of children under five years old in the coastal areas of Kecamatan Soropia are the level of mother’s knowledge (p-value = 0,003) and infectious diseases (p-value = 0,000). The factors that not relate to the nutritional status is the eating habit culture (p-value = 0,097).Conclusion:Conclusion of the research was that the level of mother’s knowledge and infectious diseases are the factor that related to the nutritional status of children under five years old in coastal areas of Kecamatan Soropia, while eating habit culture is the factor was not. Keywords: nutritional status, childrean under five years old, mother's knowledge, infectious diseases, eating habits culture, coastal areas

Abstract

ABSTRACT Date of DHF patients in the working area of Poasia Health Center of Kendari City shows that in 2015 31 people, where in January 6 patients, February 10 patients, while in 2016 as many as 48 patients ie January 1 patients and February 2 patients. In the year 2017 ie in January there were no patients and in February as many as 7 patients and there is 1 patient died. From these data it can be concluded that almost every month in every year occur DHF incidence, because DHF is a contagious disease and endemic disease that quickly lead to death if not handled appropriately. This study aims to determine the relationship of kontainer characteristics with the presence of larvae Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the working area of Poasia public health center of kendari city. The type of this research is observational research with cross sectional study approach. The population in this study is all the houses in the working area of Poasia Health Center of Kendari City. samples of 85 samples. the statistical test used is chi square and phi test. The results showed that there was a correlation of kontainer material (X2hit) = 4,504 and φ = 0,258), kontainer location (X2hit) = 4,032 and φ = 0,242), kontainer color (X2hit) = 4,210 and φ = 0,246), condition of kontainer cover (X2hit ) = 5,171 and φ = 0,279) with presence of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae. The public is expected to raise awareness in considering the condition of kontainers such as the color of bright kontainers, the kontainers must always be closed, the kontainer is not made of soil and glass and improve the behavior of Mosquito Nest Eradication. Keywords: Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae, kontainer characteristicsABSTRACT Date of DHF patients in the working area of Poasia Health Center of Kendari City shows that in 2015 31 people, where in January 6 patients, February 10 patients, while in 2016 as many as 48 patients ie January 1 patients and February 2 patients. Abstract

Malathion and temephos insecticides have long been used at Kendari Municipality in the program of Ae.aegypti mosquito as vector of DHF; however, DHF cases are still relatively high. At Kendari Municipality there is  no  report on  susceptibility status of  Ae.  aegypti larva and  mosquito against malathion and  temephos insecticides. This study aimed to identify association between frequency and duration of malation and temephos usage with the susceptibility status of Ae. aegypti larva and mosquito at Kendari Municipality and to identify resistance mechanism of Ae. aegypti larva and mosquito.  This study was an observational analytic and subjects of the study were Ae. aegypti larva and mosquito collected from five county in Kendari. Susceptibility status of Ae. aegypti larva and mosquito against malathion and temephos was qualitatively assessed through biochemical test and quantitatively assessed through bioassay test. The statistical analysis perform by using Pearson and One Way Anova. as result, biochemical test of Ae. aegypti larva at counties of Kadia, Rahandouna, Kasilampe and Labibia had tolerant status with average score 2.49; 2.15; 2.05; 2.50 and at Abeli had  susceptible status with average score 1.77. Biochemical test of test larva from  Kadia, Rahandouna, Kasilampe, Labibia and Abeli showed susceptibility status  0%, 3.33%, 23.33%, 0% and 16.67% subsequently. The result of bioassay test of Ae. aegypti larva against temephos at Kasilampe was resistant (73.3%), at Rahandouna was tolerant (89.3%) and Kadia, Labibia and Abeli were susceptible (100%). The result of bioassay test of susceptibility status of Ae. aegypti mosquito against malathion was 100% for all counties. In conclusion, frequency and duration of use of malathion and temephos through biochemical test not affected significantly against downgrading susceptibility status of Ae. aegypti larva; whereas through bioassay test there was significant effect. Increase of non specific esterase enzyme in Ae. aegypti larva using biochemical test was not because temephos and malathion usage but because there were other unknown factors. Keywords: Aedes aegypti, temephos, malathion, bioassay test, biochemical test, insecticides.
