Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the online learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic and the science learning achievement of class X SMA Negeri 2 Tondano students. The online learning process is a teaching and learning process that is carried out online and interactively by utilizing information and communication technology, such as computer media with the internet as the delivery and recipient of the material. The research design used is correlational, with data collection techniques in the form of questions (statements) questionnaires and the average value of report cards using 20 students as samples. Tests carried out to prove the hypothesis were carried out by simple linear regression analysis, Pearson Product Moment correlation and t-test. The results of the regression equation obtained are Y = 0.2634x + 68.519 with a correlation value of r = 0.693 in the level of strong relationship, and the results from the t-test are tcount = 4.080 and ttable = 2.100, meaning tcount > ttable at = 0,05, the correlation between variables X and Y is significant, meaning that there is a strong and significant relationship between the online learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic and the science learning achievement of class X SMA Negeri 2 Tondano students.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian tersebut ialah untuk dapat mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw disertai praktikum terhadap hasil belajar pada materi sifat koligatif larutan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 1 Tondano pada tahun ajaran 2019/2020 dengan menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimen dengan desain post-test only control design. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 22 siswa kelas eksperimen dan 22 siswa kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui instrumen tes hasil belajar sebanyak 20 butir soal objektif yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada taraf signifikan 0,05 diperoleh data hasil belajar thitung lebih besar dari ttabel yaitu 4,087 > 2,018. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw disertai praktikum terhadap hasil belajar pada materi sifat koligatif larutan.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit almost all countries and has an impact on various sectors, one of which is the economy and business. The impact of Covid 19 in the economic and business sectors is felt by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Cake craftsmen in Kotamobagu, North Sulawesi, are one of the SMEs that have been badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on the situation analysis, it is known that there are several things that affect the situation, namely: 1. Consumers' fear of unhygienic food products, 2. The closing of shops which are usually used as places to store their merchandise, and 3. Not familiar with online promotion and marketing. Based on this, the objectives of the PKM activity are: to provide assistance to cake-making SMEs in Kotamobagu in order to minimize the impact of the pandemic through improved production, promotion and online marketing. This PKM activity was carried out by involving 10 SMEs in Kotamobagu. The implementation of the activity consists of several stages, namely the preparation stage including the formation of SME groups, the socialization stage includes learning about how to produce cakes using health protocols, and the implementation stage, namely cake production using the Health protocol, making promotional documents and online marketing (making videos and product photos), as well as creating Facebook, Instagram and Youtube accounts. Based on the activities that have been carried out, it is known that this activity is very useful because it is able to produce production improvements, promotions and marketing for SMEs cake craftsmen in Kotamobagu. The output of this activity is the existence of promotional documents and online marketing, through FB, Instagram and Youtube media. The next activity is recommended to conduct training activities with the aim of accelerating the production process, improving product packaging and enriching the variety of superior products to be marketed with a wider target consumer.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar kimia siswa yang diberi perlakuan menggunakan model pembelajaran ICARE dengan siswa yang diajarkan dengan cara konvensional pada materi hidrokarbon kelas XI MIA di SMA Negeri 1 Tombatu serta efektvitas model pembelajaran ICARE dan pembelajaran konvesional. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan Quasi Experimental Design yaitu pretest-posttest control group design, yang merupakan penelitian menggunakan dua kelompok, yang satunya kelompok eksperimen sedangkan yang lainnya kelompok kontrol. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh kelas XI MIA SMA N 1 Tombatu dan sampel terdiri dari 2 kelas, yaitu kelas XI MIA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI MIA 1 sebagai kelas kontrol masing-masing berjumlah 18 orang. Berdasarkan data hasil penelitian diperoleh hasil analisis uji-t dengan sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,001 < 0,05, artinya H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Melalui uji efektivitas (N-Gain) didapat 63% model pembelajaran ICARE masuk dalam kategori cukup efektif. Dengan demikian terdapat perbedaan Model Pembelajaran ICARE dengan pembelajaran konvensional pada Hasil Belajar Kimia Siswa materi Hidrokarbon kelas XI MIA di SMA Negeri 1 Tombatu serta model pembelajaran ICARE cukup efektif dalam pembelajaran kimia materi hidrokarbon dan pembelajaran konvensional tidak efektif.

Abstract

Research has been carried out on the effect of potassium hydroxide catalyst concentration on the yield of coconut oil (Cocos nucifera) transesterification and continued to characterize the reaction results. The concentration of potassium hydroxide used was 1, 2, and 3% by weight of coconut oil with ethanol as the reactant. The data processing used was the one-way analysis of variation and its characterization from a physicochemical perspective, followed by the analysis of gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GCSM) and infrared spectrophotometry. Based on the data processing results, potassium hydroxide concentrations of 1, 2, and 3% did not affect the yield of the transesterification reaction of coconut oil, and the results were 74.5264%, 71.9330%, and 69.0420%. The characterization results show that the physicochemical properties of the reaction products, such as acid number, density, and viscosity, comply with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for biodiesel. The results of the GCMS analysis showed that nine peaks were dominated by ethyl laurate.

Abstract

Penduduk Molas sebagian besar berprofesi sebagai nelayan, sedangkan kaum wanita biasanya berperan dalam menjual ikan di pasar. Sampai saat ini, jeroan ikan belum dimanfaatkan dan hanya dibuang oleh penjual ikan di Molas. Hal tersebut mendorong perlunya dilakukan pelatihan pemanfaatan jeroan ikan menjadi produk bakasang berkualitas tinggi agar dapat bernilai ekonomis yang pada akhirnya dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan para keluarga nelayan. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberi pelatihan kepada para ibu-ibu nelayan dan pedagang ikan di kampung Loyang Molas tentang cara pengolahan bakasang jeroan ikan Cakalang yang berkualitas tinggi. Tahapan kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi persiapan, sosialisasi, implementasi teknologi, evaluasi dan follow up. Pada tahap implementasi teknologi, dilakukan pelatihan pengolahan bakasang dengan teknologi terkontrol. Pelatihan yang dilakukan meliputi: teknik menyiapkan jeroan ikan, penentuan jumlah garam yang ditambahkan, teknik menyiapkan alat pengolahan bakasang, teknik pengolahan bakasang, pengaturan suhu dan waktu fermentasi serta teknik pengambilan produk bakasang. Kegiatan implementasi teknologi pelatihan kepada para ibu-ibu nelayan dan pedagang ikan di kampung Loyang Molas tentang cara pengolahan bekasang jeroan ikan Cakalang telah terlaksana dengan baik. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah: adanya peningkatan pada masyarakat mitra meliputi: peningkatan pengetahun tentang nilai gizi bakasang, peningkatan pengetahun tentang teknologi pengolahan bakasang, peningkatan nilai ekonomis jeroan ikan serta peningkatan ketrampilan pengolahan bakasang yang baik dan bermutu.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze liquid smoke's chemical content and antioxidant activity from pyrolysis of nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) shell with rotary evaporator purification. A rotary evaporator purified liquid smoke from the pyrolysis of nutmeg shells. Identification of the chemical components of liquid smoke from the pyrolysis of nutmeg shells was carried out by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS), and Antioxidants were measured using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method with absorbance at a wavelength of λ 517 nm. The results of GC-MS analysis showed 14 peaks and 19 types of compounds detected with the 2-methylphenol compound component located at a retention time of 4.974 minutes, standing out with the largest contribution in terms of area, reaching 47.74%. The antioxidant test showed that the nutmeg shell has IC50 values before and after rotary evaporation of 0.40% and 0.07%, having strong antioxidant activity, and the results at a concentration of 3.2 mg/ml provided a level of free radical protection of more than 50%, namely 91.14%. The main compounds that play as antioxidants are phenol compounds and their derivatives, such as 2-methoxy-phenol and 2-methoxy-4-methyl-phenol.

Abstract

Kimia merupakan salah satu mata pelajaran yang dianggap sulit oleh siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) karena melibatkan konsep-konsep abstrak serta perhitungan yang kompleks. Metode pembelajaran konvensional, seperti metode ceramah dengan hanya menggunakan buku teks, sering kali kurang efektif dalam membantu siswa memahami materi secara mendalam. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan media pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif, salah satunya adalah PhET Simulations, sebuah aplikasi yang memungkinkan siswa belajar melalui simulasi visual dan interaktif. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan serta mengevaluasi keefektifan PhET Simulations sebagai media pembelajaran interaktif kepada siswa SMA Negeri 3 Tondano dan tingkat kepuasan mereka terhadap penggunaan dan kegiatan. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini melibatkan tiga tahapan utama, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman 18 siswa, yang tercermin dari peningkatan nilai rata-rata post-test, yaitu dari 53,89 menjadi 78,89 setelah menggunakan PhET Simulations. Selain itu, pemanfaatan PhET Simulations sebagai media pembelajaran interaktif memperoleh respons positif, dengan tingkat keberhasilan mencapai 86,76%. Kepuasan siswa terhadap kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini juga tergolong tinggi, dengan persentase 84,55%. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan PhET Simulations dapat menjadi alternatif yang efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep-konsep kimia yang abstrak.

Abstract

This research was conducted to see whether there is an effect of using the Peer-Led Team Learning model on the learning outcomes of class XI SMA N 1 Tomohon students on the Hydrocarbons topic. The effect is seen from the different in learning outcomes between the class with the Peer-Led Team Learning model and the class with conventional learning. The type of this research is quantitative with experimental design. Data collection techniques are carried out by giving pre-test and post-test in the experimental class and control class. The hypothesis was tested with the independent-t test. The test result showed the tcount is 6,029, 6,029 > 2,007584. The conclusion is to accept Ha namely that there is significant different between the learning outcomes of class with the Peer-Led Team Learning model and class with conventional learning. After the hypothesis test, an N-Gain test was carried out to determine the effectiveness of using the learning model. The test results showed an N-Gain value in the experimental class of 0.70 with a percentage 70.02148%, and in the control class of 0.50 with a percentage 50.38885%. Based on these results, it is known that the use of the Peer-Led Team Learning model is more effective than conventional learning.

Abstract

Coconut oil is one of the vegetable oils widely used in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries due to its high content of saturated fatty acids, particularly lauric acid. This study was conducted on the effect of coconut oil processing methods on the characteristics of the resulting coconut oil. Three processing methods were applied: non-heating, fermentation, and direct heating. A transesterification step was carried out to determine the fatty acid profile and its derivatives. The characterization of coconut oil compounds included measurements of density, acid value, peroxide value, and ester value, as well as analysis of fatty acid compounds using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). The results showed that the best method for producing coconut oil was the non-heating process, with the following physicochemical properties: yield of 13.5%, acid value of 0.20 mg KOH/g, peroxide value of 2.00 meq/kg, and ester value of 223.28 mg KOH/g. The main components identified from the transesterified coconut oil were dodecanoic acid methyl ester (methyl laurate), methyl tetradecanoate, and hexadecanoic acid methyl ester.
