Abstract

Periodontitis merupakan penyakit tertinggi keenam di seluruh dunia dengan Porphyromonas gingivalis sebagai salah satu bakteri penyebabnya. Daun kayu manis (Cinnamomum burmannii blume) menunjukkan beberapa aktivitas antimikroba, seperti antibakteri dan anti-jamur. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak Cinnamomum burmannii blume terhadap pertumbuhan Porphyromonas gingivalis. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah the post test only control group design. Bakteri Porphyromonas gingivalis ditumbuhkan pada medium Blood Agar Plate (BAP) diberi perlakuan menggunakan ekstrak etanol Cinnamomum burmannii blume dengan konsentrasi sebesar 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, dan 50%. Pengulangan dilakukan sebanyak 5 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol Cinnamomum burmannii blume tidak membentuk zona hambat di sekitar paper disc terhadap pertumbuhan Porphyromonas gingivalis pada semua konsentrasi. Ekstrak etanol Cinnamomum burmannii blume tidak memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap pertumbuhan Porphyromonas gingivalis

Abstract

The success of the student learning process is characterized by academic achievement. One of the factors that can affect academic achievement is the learning environment. This study aims to determine the relationship of the students’ perception on the campus learning environment and their GPA in school of medicine of Mulawarman University. This research is an observational analytic study with cross sectional method. The research respondents were students of the Medicine Study Program of the School of Medicine in Mulawarman University by using total sample technique. The method of data analysis used descriptive data analysis and the analytic data analysis used chi square test. There were 316 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, male respondents were 91 people (28.8%) and female respondents were 225 people (71.2%). As many as 268 students (84.8%) had more positive than negative perception on the campus learning environment, while as many as 232 students (73.4%) got good category for the grade point. The results of the study obtained p=0.000. In conclusion, there is a relationship between student perceptions of the learning environment on campus with an grade point.

Abstract

Mastery of professionalism is a necessity in medical education. However, the application in education is still limited. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the definition of professionalism in the medical field. This study aimed to explore students' perceptions of medical professionalism, as well as the behavioral components that demonstrate professionalism. This was a qualitative analytic study, carried out among 2 focus group discussions (FGD) of students with a grounded theory approach in data analysis. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Medicine, Gadjah Mada University. Results showed that students' perceptions of medical professionalism included mastery of knowledge, skills, and overall attitudes. Meanwhile, the professionalism component consists of altruism, competence, honesty and integrity, performance, management, respect for others and humanism. Abstract

Problem-based learning is a learning method which applies scenario arranged thoroughly according to specific themes and performed through group discussion. The effectiveness of problem-based learning determines the success of students’ learning. This study aims to find the relationship between scenario quality and the effectiveness of problem-based learning seven jumps discussion among medical students of Mulawarman University. This observational analytic study applied cross sectional approach. The respondents of this study were medical students of Mulawarman University which were selected through simple random sampling technique. The data analysis methods were descriptive data analysis and analytic data analysis using Pearson test. There were 202 respondents fulfilling both inclusive and exclusive criteria with 18 – 22 age range. The male respondents were 50 (24.8%) and the female respondents were 152 (75.2%). Each respondent filled in questionnaires twice to evaluate different scenario. A total of 404 data were obtained from 202 respondents. The finding revealed that there was a correlation between scenario quality and problem-based learning seven jumps discussion with p value = 0.000. In conclusion, scenario quality had a relationship with the effectiveness of problem-based learning seven jumps discussion among medical students of Mulawarman University.

Abstract

Background: Government policies that apply social distancing, work from home, and learn from home to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 corona virus have an impact on learning methods. Clinical learning methods in pre-pandemic health education are carried out in campus laboratories and direct clinical services to patients. Thus, in this condition, the provision cannot be implemented. Purpose: For this reason, it is necessary to modify the learning method from offline to online to meet the continuity of the student learning process. Methods: In the first stage, the clinical skills online learning method using online videos is supported by lecturers’ explanations in a 120-minute meeting. In the second stage, students are given the task of making videos of procedural skills that have been taught in 170 minutes, with a video duration of 10-15 minutes. At the next meeting, a review or response is carried out with students on the standard operating procedure and the theory that underlies it. The design in this study is a descriptive analysis with 511 respondents from the medical education study program and the nursing diploma 3 study program at the Faculty of Medicine, Mulawarman University. The research used was 44 items of statement questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, and questionnaire items were sent to respondents via Google Forms. Results: From the results of this study, there is a significant relationship between the perceptions of students who apply clinical skills online learning seen from the effectiveness of learning in the Covid-19 pandemic era with p-value = 0.000, with a very strong relationship with the Spearman value rho of 0.791 in a positive direction. Conclusion: Thus, it can be concluded that the application of online clinical skills learning during the Covid-19 pandemic was effective. As a suggestion, clinical learning methods with various blended learning or hybrid learning methods should be modified.

Abstract

Background: Profesionalism has become a main competency for physician. Therefore, it is important to get an agreement from health provider about professionalism and it’s applicable learning method for medical institution. This research aimed to explore skills laboratory instructor and student’s perception of the learning method that can facilitate the mastery of professionalism and it’s professional behavior components.Method: A descriptive qualitative method was carried out in this research. Data was collected by indepth interview among instructors and FGD among two groups of students, and analyzed by grounded theory method approach.Results: Medical professionalism is an integrated ability of  knowledge, skill and attitude. Professional behavior formed by attitude. Professionalism can be learnt and taught by eksplisit, implisit and continuing education methods.Conclusion :. Medical professionalism can be collaborated in several learning methods. Role model is claimed as an effective learning method for medical professionalism and professional behavior mastery.

Abstract

Proses pembelajaran prosedur klinik di pendidikan kesehatan adalah hal yang paling krusial danharus mendapat perhatian yang sangat penting dan solusi yang untuk mengatasinya di masaPandemi ini agar tetap berjalan efektif dan berkelanjutan. Salah satunya adalah tetap melakukankegiatan pembelajaran prosedur klinik secara Daring. Metode Daring yang dilakukan adalah metodeceramah dan pemutaran video pada suatu keterampilan klinik tertentu. Jenis penelitian ini adalahpenelitian Kuantitatif, dengan pendekatan Analitik deskriptif. Desain dalam penelitian ini adalahCross Sectional, dimana data variabel dependen dan independen didapatkan dalam satu periodewaktu. Sampel sebanyak 75 mahasiswa tingkat 2 yang mengikuti pembelajaran Mata kuliahKeperawatan Maternitas 1 (Satu).Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini bahwa metode pembelajaran pada tahap 1 ini dapat meningkatkanpengetahuan sebesar 70,6 %, meningkatkan skills mahasiswa 14,7 % dan meningkatkan attitudemahasiswa 14,7 %. Hasil evaluasi pembelajaran klinik tahap 1 pada mata kuliah keperawatanmaternitas 1 (satu) dengan menonton video dan penjelasan dari dosen masih kurang efektif 61,7 %,efektif 28% dan tidak efektif 10,7%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini juga dinilai bahwa metodepembelajaran pada tahap 2 dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan sebesar 14,7 %, meningkatkan skillsmahasiswa 70,6 % dan meningkatkan attitude mahasiswa 14,7 %. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian inijuga dinilai bahwa metode pembelajaran pada tahap 2 ini dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan sebesar36%, meningkatkan skills mahasiswa 20,7% dan meningkatkan attitude mahasiswa 37,3%.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini juga dinilai bahwa metode pembelajaran pada semua tahapan inidapat meningkatkan pengetahuan sebesar 40%, meningkatkan skills mahasiswa 40% danmeningkatkan attitude mahasiswa 20%.Hasil evaluasi masih banyak pada penilaian kurang efektif, maka memungkinkan untuk dilakukanpembelajaran metode Blended Learning yaitu gabungan antara metode daring dan luring. Hasilevaluasi akhir bahwa 3 tahapan metode ini dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan skills secaraberimbang yaitu 40% dan 20% meningkatkan attitude mahasiswa, maka metode ini dapat menjadipilihan alternatif yang baik dilakukan atau dengan memodifikasi dengan teknik luring pada bagianpenjelasan materi awal, dan selanjutnya tetap bisa menggunakan teknik daring. Rekomendasi untukpenelitian selanjutnya adalah modifikasi dari berbagai metode pembelajaran khususnya keterampilanklinik.Keyword : Penerapan pembelajaran secara daring, Keterampilan Pre Klinik,Keperawatan Maternitas

Abstract

Introduction: Elderly is the final stage of the aging process, usually followed by cumulative changes in human that create changes in the oral cavity as well. Oral Health plays a crucial role in general health and quality of life. Material and Methods: : This research used analytical observational study with cross-sectional design, using purposive sampling as its sampling method. The respondents were 81 elderly people. This research used oral health Levin questionnaire and Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14). The data from this research were analyzed using Spearman correlation test. Results and Discussions: The correlation between dental and oral health and quality of life showed significant with the p value <0.001 and correlation coefficient R= 0.657. Conclusion: There was a significant correlation between dental and oral health and the quality of life of elderly people in Tresna Werdha Nirwana Puri Samarinda Nursing home.

Abstract

Introduction: Pulp and periapical tissue problems are 7th out of the top 10 diseases. Propolis from stingless bees is a natural substance that has been proven its efficacy in treating the diseases. Additionally, it is categorized safe for humans. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of stingless bee propolis (Heterotrigona itama) ethanol extract on dental root canal bacterial growth in vitro. Method: This study was an experimental study with a posttest-only control group design and consisting of six treatment groups with concentrations of 3,000; 6,000; 12,000; and 24,000 ppm of stingless bee propolis, as well as a positive and negative control. Each treatment was repeated four times. Result: The result showed that there were no clear zones at concentrations of 24,000 ppm, but a clear zones appeared at concentrations of 3,000; 6,000; and 12,000 ppm. Stingless bee propolis ethanol extract is efficient against bacteria. At a concentration of 3,000 ppm, the inhibition zone's maximum circumference was visible.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Penyebab utama periodontitis berhubungan dengan aktivasi berlebihan respon imun-inflamasi host terhadap bakteri patogen. Metabolit sekunder pada tumbuhan sarang semut (Myrmecodia tuberosa Jack) diantaranya dari golongan flavonoid dan tanin mempunyai sifat antibakteri. Tujuan Penelitian: Untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak tanaman sarang semut terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri A. Actinomycetemcomitans. Bahan dan Metode: dilakukan uji secara in vitro berupa penelitian eksperimental dengan 12 kelompok uji yaitu perlakuan dengan konsentrasi 125 mg/mL, 62,5 mg/mL, 31,25 mg/mL, 15,62 mg/mL, 7,81 mg/mL, 3,90 mg/mL, 1,95 mg/mL, 0,97 mg/mL, 0,48 mg/mL, 0,24 mg/mL, 0,12 mg/mL, 0,06 mg/mL, kelompok kontrol positif (Chlorhexidine gluconate 0,2%) dan kelompok kontrol negatif (DMSO 10%) dengan metode mikrodilusi untuk melihat kadar hambat minimum. Hasil: hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukan adanya aktivitas antibakteri ditandai dengan terdapatnya sumuran yang tetap jernih pada beberapa konsentrasi. Kesimpulan: ekstrak etanol tanaman sarang semut memiliki kemampuan untuk menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri penyebab periodontitis agresif A. Actinomycetemcomitans.
