Abstract

This article explores the Sekaten Tradition at the Yogyakarta Palace as a commemoration of Mawlid. The tradition has been alive and well in society since the Demak Kingdom. Initially,  Islamic religious leaders used traditional and religious acculturation to attract people to gather as well as a means of preaching. In its development, the sekaten ceremony became a form of Javanese cultural identity commemorating Islamic religious holidays. In Indonesia, the sekaten tradition is a tradition that lives and develops in society. Sekaten is no longer a tribal identity, but over time, it has become a tradition carried out by some people and a marker of respect for the Islamic holiday, namely the birth of the Prophet. The shift in function from preaching media to the realm of ceremonies occurs not only in the sekaten tradition but also in other traditions. Through a cultural approach, this research shows how Sekaten is a means of expressing the traditions of Yogyakarta society. By analyzing its history, meaning and function today, Sekaten can live across the ages with dynamic forms and changes in function. This research shows that the sekaten tradition can provide a line of cultural order that is followed and adhered to by the community in the eco-bio-cultural realm. The resilience of Javanese culture, which is acculturated to the religion of the people who own it, can become a means to exist in various domains of life beyond time. This research expresses today's sekaten tradition as a means of existence for rulers and society through culture. Javanese traditions instituted by the palace as a source and patron of culture will become icons and cultural forces. The Sekaten tradition is one of the sacred traditions in Yogyakarta. This tradition was created as a form of respect for the Prophet Muhammad.

Abstract

This study examines effective strategies for teaching Arabic reading skills using qualitative research methods, a case study, and a thematic approach. It aims to formulate practical techniques and procedures to enhance Arabic reading proficiency. Reading skills, a crucial component of language acquisition, encompass various forms, such as loud reading, silent reading, intensive reading, extensive reading, critical reading, basic reading, analytical reading, interactive reading, and inferential reading. This study uses a qualitative approach using descriptive methods and employs two frameworks: the thematic approach and the case study approach. The study highlights how teaching Arabic as a second language has evolved to align with digital advancements, with software and platforms like Al Jazeera Arabic Learning playing a pivotal role. These tools provide structured modules to facilitate language learning, offering students and educators innovative approaches to reading comprehension. The findings suggest that integrating digital tools into language curricula can enhance the effectiveness of teaching strategies and foster greater engagement among learners. Future research should explore the long-term impact of digital tools on Arabic language acquisition, compare traditional and digital methods, and develop specific frameworks for integrating technology into Arabic education. Additionally, investigating students' and teachers' perceptions of these tools could inform the development of more user-centered educational technologies.

Abstract

This study aims to trace the chain of sanad mujahadah Nihadlul Mustaghfirin and interconnection with sanad K.H. Dalhar, as well as the influence of its teachings on the Indonesian Muslim community. This mujahadah is interesting to discuss because although it is not tied to any community organization, its development is very rapid in various regions. In addition, the importance of scientific sanad needs to be studied in depth not only in the realm of hadith discussion but also covers all disciplines, with its main function being to maintain the originality of a science. This research was conducted by qualitative methods with the interconnection of scientific sanad as the main focus. The source of data used in this study comes from a case study approach through interviews with the figures concerned. In analyzing the interconnection of the mujahadah scientific sanad, the author uses Amin Abdullah's theory of integration-interconnection and the theory of Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali’s scientific sanad. Based on this theory, it is concluded that the sanad mujahadah Nihadlul Mustaghfirin is included in the category of sanad diploma, and the connection of scientific sanad is given directly by the teacher (Kyai Nahrowi Dalhar) to his students (Gus Muh). The existence of mujahadah was found to influence bonding relations between communities and expand connections because it was followed by thousands of groups of people.

Abstract

This article reconstructs Jürgen Habermas's conceptual apparatus—communicative action, four validity claims (truth, normative correctness, sincerity, comprehensibility), and discourse ethics—to ethically interpret algorithmically mediated digital communication. Using the Transcendental Dialectical Reconstruction Method combined with hermeneutic reading, critical discourse analysis, and instrumental case studies, this study builds a bridge from theory to practice through three main outputs: (1) a “Habermasian” evaluation matrix that translates the four validity claims into operational and auditable indicators; (2) a thought-experiment/fiction-based normative prototype useful for testing the ethical consistency of interface designs and platform policies; and (3) a domination-free design-governance guideline that normatively promotes reason-giving and demand-based approaches, substantive appeals, justification-based curation, and public explanation of algorithmic decisions. Application to the digital debate over the US-Indonesia “reciprocal” tariff policy demonstrates that procedural arrangements—a minimal reason format, a separation of fact-policy channels, reasoned moderation with an appeals path—can shift discourse from engagement metrics to open evaluation of reasons, while simultaneously reducing the tendency for the lifeworld to be colonized by system rationality. This article's primary contribution is a purely Habermas-based operationalization for the contemporary digital ecosystem, which strengthens discursive legitimacy through inclusive, transparent, and revisable procedures. Practical implications include a communication quality audit framework that researchers, educators, platform managers, and policymakers can adopt to advance Verständigung in the digital public sphere.
