Abstract

Mathematics is often perceived as a difficult subject, therefore students' interest in learning in mathematics is relatively low. This results in low student learning outcomes, whereas in mathematics there is an important ability possessed by students, namely mathematical reasoning abilities that enter into the High Order Thinking Skill, based on that the purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of learning interest on students' mathematical reasoning abilities. The method in this study is a correlational method to see the effect of a variable on other variables, with a population of eighth grade students of SMPN 3 Ngamprah with samples taken in one class. The instrument of this study was a 5-item test instrument to measure reasoning ability and a non-test questionnaire in the form of 40 statements used to measure interest in learning in mathematics. From the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant positive influence between learning interest with mathematical reasoning ability, and the correlation coefficient of 0.88, which means the relationship between interest in learning mathematics and mathematical reasoning ability is classified as very strong. Therefore, in bringing learning the teacher should make learning that can increase student interest in learning so that students' mathematical reasoning abilities increase

Abstract

Learning mathematics using the concept of mathematical understanding is needed to solve a mathematical problem. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) which aims to analyze the ability to understand students’ mathematical concepts in SPtLDV material with the help of geogebra media. The subjects of this study were 20 students of class X Senior High School 1 Cisarua with low, medium, and high categories. The instruments used are the initial tests (before the action); the first and second cycle test (after giving the action); interview; observation sheets for teachers and students regarding the research conducted. The resultas obtained in the pre-cycle are 30%, in the first cycle there are 45%, and in the second cycle there are 90% who have the ability to understand students’ understanding of the SPtLDV material. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the students’ mathematical understanding ability on SPtLDV material assisted by geogebra media has increased.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability to think critically mathematically based on the motivation of junior high school students. The method in this research using correlational method with quantitative approach. The population in this study is in one of the junior high schools in western Bandung and the number of samples as many as 29 students with heterogeneous ability. Intrumen in this research is in the form of test of critical thinking ability capability with number of seven item and non test in the form of learning motivation scale which consist of 25 scale statement. The results of this study obtained that the ability to think critically mathematically based on learning motivation has a positive effect of 16.2%. While 83.8% influenced in addition to student learning motivation.

Abstract

Mathematical communication is the ability to express ideas or mathematical ideas both orally and in writing. Success in learning mathematics influenced cognitive aspects such as mathematical ability, affective aspects such as self concept, and gender differences. The method in this research using quantitative approach with the method correlational which aims to know the influence of gender and self concept towards the achievement of mathematical communication of junior high school students in the matter of building a rectangular flat. The population of this study is all students of class VII in one of the State Junior High School in West Bandung with selected sample of 11 female students and 16 male students. The instrument used consisted of a test of mathematical communication skills in the form of a description consisting of seven items and non-test instruments consisting of 10 positive statements and 10 negative statements of self concept. The result of this research shows that gender differences influence to students' mathematical communication ability. Female students are more dominant in terms of cognitive and answer math problems in writing with complete than male students. In addition, students' mathematical communication skills are not influenced by self concept.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of the scientific approach in online learning of quadratic equations and functions in class IX-A MTs.Al-Bidayah. The subjects of this study were 35 students of class IX-A MTs.Al-Bidayah for the academic year 2020/2021. The instruments used are essay test questions, teacher and student observation sheets, interviews and questionnaires. The steps of this research consist of: (1) Planning, (2) Implementation of action, (3) Observation, (4) Evaluation. At the stage of the first cycle, the teacher was less than optimal in applying the learning approach, did not motivate students, and did not organize the learning time well. Furthermore, in the second cycle stage, the weaknesses that occur in the first cycle can be corrected by the teacher. In addition, more and more students are able to take part in learning by using a scientific approach, solving problems, and asking the teacher for things they do not understand. The results of this study indicate that the scientific approach in online learning can be applied and has a positive influence on student learning outcomes in class IX-A MTs.Al-Bidayah.

Abstract

This study used descriptive qualitative method. This article aims to analyze errors in solving comparison questions for Class VII SMP students. The subjects studied were students of SMP IT Sukamanah class VII-C, with a total of 33 students. It consists of 22 female students and 11 male students. The data used in the study includes the results of the completion of the written test. The instrument of this written test is in the form of a description question that contains 5 questions. The analytical technique used in this research is by collecting data from the test instrument. The percentage of error in the low question indicator is to make a comparison worth to determine the value of x with a percentage of 20% and for a high question indicator is to explain problems related to the comparison with the percentage of 70%.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the achievement of mathematical reasoning ability and self confidence of MTs students using guided inquiry method compared with using ordinary learning. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method, with a pretest and postes experimental-control group design. The population in this study is all MTs students in West Bandung regency, while the sample of the research is as much as two classes are selected to be experimental class and control class. The experimental class gained learning by guided inquiry method and the control class gained regular learning. The instrument used is a matter of reasoning ability test and non test self confidence matter. Data of research result are tested and analyzed quantitatively by using statistical test (t test). The conclusions obtained are as follows: 1) students' mathematical reasoning ability that obtains learning with guided inquiry method is better than students who gain ordinary learning; 2) the ability of self confidence students who gain learning with guided inquiry method is better than students who get regular learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve student learning outcomes in seventh grade junior high school students by using a contextual approach to social arithmetic material. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is divided into 3 (three) cycles. The population in this study were students of class VII-B SMP PGRI 5 Cimahi with a total of 31 students consisting of 17 male students and 14 female students. The data collection process is carried out in a planned and systematic manner to monitor the process of learning activities, increase student motivation and improve learning outcomes. Data obtained through questionnaires and cognitive ability tests. The data processing technique in this research is by calculating the percentage of the average of all students and then comparing it with the KKM score at the school. With a contextual approach to social arithmetic material, there has been a significant increase in student learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle III. Completeness of learning in cycle I was 54%, which means that in cycle I there were 17 students who had been able to reach KKM. In the second cycle the completeness increased to 77%, meaning that there were 24 students who had reached the KKM. In cycle III completeness increases to 100%, meaning that in cycle III all students can achieve the KKM score, the achievement of student learning outcomes that meet classical learning completeness based on the average score appears to have met the completeness criteria indicated by the acquisition percentage of 100%. The average score of the first cycle was 67.09, increasing in the second cycle to 74.67, and increasing in the third cycle to 87.58. The highest value in cycle I was 85, increased in cycle II to 90 and increased again in cycle III to 100. The lowest value of cycle I was 50, increased in cycle II to 60, and increased again in cycle III to 75. The meaning of individual completeness was each students have been able to achieve the KKM of 75. Achievement of student learning outcomes that meet classical learning completeness based on the average score appears to have met the completeness criteria indicated by the acquisition percentage of 100%.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between self-confidence with students' mathematical communication skills. This research uses expost pacto method with correlation analysis technique. The population in this study is all students of class IX in one of the SMP Negri in Cimahi city (IX.A - IX.N) with the number of 504 students / The academic year 2017/2018. As for the sample in this study is the students of SMP class IX N with the number of 36 students / i. In this study using cluster random sampling technique that is random sampling. In the data collection is by using the questionnaire instrument (self-confidence questionnaire) and test of mathematical communication skills. Further data is analyzed quantitatively by using Pearson correlation formula in SPSS application. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between self-confidence with students' mathematical communication ability, with correlation coefficient value of 0.865 and Sig. (2-tailed) 0.000.
