Abstract

This study focuses on a class action research (CAR) which tried to apply a method of Inductive Learning in a class of Advanced English Grammar to improve the students’ grammatical competence and to find out whether there were students’ behaviour changes in learning English grammar. This class action research (CAR) was conducted in two cycles. In each cycle, there were four steps, i.e planning, acting, observing, and reflection. Every cycle was conducted in two class meetings. The material for cycle 1 was ‘the position of adjectives’ and the material for cycle 2 was ‘the forms of adjectives.’ The subjects of the study were the 4 semester students of an Advanced English Grammar class in academic year 2011/2012. These students were Literature Study Program students of English Department Unnes. Based on the data analysis, the result of this CAR was quiet satisfying. There was an increasing percentage of students’ test scores between cycle 1 and cycle 2. From test cycle 1, there were 32% students who got less than 70, while this reduced to only 24% students in test cycle 2. In addition, there were 68% students who got 71-100 in test cycle 1 and it increased to 76% students in test cycle 2. Based on the observation sheets and questioners given to the students, most of them liked Inductive Learning method to be applied in grammar classes because this method is fun and interesting. This attitude directly influenced their activity, motivation, and behavior in grammar classes which indirectly also increased their grammatical competence. Finally, the pedagogical implication th of the study is the lecturers and students are supposed to fully motivated to use Inductive Learning method in their grammar classes. This method, hopefully, can improve students’ activity, motivation, behavior, and grammatical competence in learning English grammar.

Abstract

This is a classroom action research within the context of cooperative learning, which is conducted to investigate how exposition texts are developed through One Stay Three Stray strategy, and how One Stay Three Stray strategy can change students’ positive attitude in writing exposition texts. The study was done towards a class of Genre-based Writing in English Department of Semarang State University. The main goal of this study is to help students improve the way how to communicate their ideas through texts they develop. The problems which the writer deals with to uncover the above phenomena are: (1) How can One Stay Three Stray strategy help students in solving problems dealing with writing and developing their ideas in writing exposition texts? And (2) how does One Stay Three Stray strategy change students’ positive attitude to achieve the goals of the Genre-based Writing Subject, especially in achieving the goal of writing exposition texts? Based on the result of the research, it is found that there is a positive impact on the use of One Stay Three Stray strategy on the teaching and learning process of exposition texts. This can be seen on the result of the evaluation of the process and of the composition produced by students during the research. The students’ writings from the four cycles improve significantly.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out how big the role of public relations at Universitas Negeri Semarang is in implementing public information disclosure policies (Law No. 14 of 2008) and what strategies are used by public relations in its role as a communicator , relationship builder , forming a good image of the organization as well as a backup management to present information to the public. Disclosure of public information is one of the obligations that must be carried out by Public Agencies to maintain public confidence in the performance of programs and budgets implemented. Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) is a public agency that through the Public Relations Unit (Humas) provides information and documentation services in accordance with public requests. The research method used is qualitative description by making data analysis from data collection carried out by observation, interviews and documentation of the Public Relations unit at UNNES. The research results obtained illustrate that the Public Relations Unit has carried out its role quite well as a communicator , builder of relations with internal and external parties and as a positive image creator for UNNES through media that has been designated as a means of communication between UNNES and the public. The strategy used by Public Relations in its role of providing information services by utilizing social media is more accessible to the public. The constraints that occur are not optimal utilization of the website http://ppid.unnes.ac.id which provides public information in accordance with Law 14 of 2008. Henceforth Public Relations must be able to optimize human resources and infrastructure in order to provide information and documentation services openly to the public

Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi yang semakin pesat dan pembatasan kegiatan masyarakatuntukmengurangidampakpenyebaranCovid-19,strategipenyebarandakwahmengalamiperubahan yang signifikan. Dakwah yang dulunya dilakukan di masjid, di tabligh akbar, di radio,ataupun televisi, sekarang mulai bergeser ke media digital seperti website, instagram, Youtube,Twitter, Facebook, atau media digital lainnya. Kenyamanan dalam mengakses dakwah dimanapun,kapanpun, dan oleh siapapun menjadi keunggulan utama dakwah melalui media digital. Kondisi inisangat sesuai dengan pasar pengguna aktif sosial media di Indonesia yaitu sekitar 61, 8% dari totalpopulasi (Hootsuite, 2021).Inovasi penyebaran dakwah melalui media digital dianggap menjadialternatif solusi yang cukup efektif untuk menyasar semua generasi terutama generasi milenial.Dengan jumlah aktif pengguna internet yang mencapai 200 juta jiwa, jumlah konten kreatorYoutube selevel gold di Indonesia masih berkisar 600 channel (Makarim, 2020). Selain itu, kontenkreatif di Indonesia masih berkisar konten terkait prank, tutorial, musik, berita, atau web series.Masih sedikitnya konten kreator yang berfokus pada dakwah, membuka peluang besar bagi generasimillennial untuk mendalaminya. Untuk itu, pengabdian yangberfokus untuk memberdayakanremaja melalui pelatihan pembuatan konten dakwah menggunakan aplikasi terkini seperti Canvadan Snapseed sangat diperlukan. Sasaran program pengabdian ini adalah remaja putri panti asuhanSiti Khadijah, yang masih bersekolah di jenjang SMP dan SMA/SMK. Mereka merupakan gen Z yangsangat familiar dengan penggunaan teknologi informasi namun masih minim mendapat pelatihanpembuatan konten kreatif berbahasa Inggris yang memanfaatkan aplikasi terkini. Pemilihan pesertapelatihan ini didasarkan pada kebutuhan untuk membangun ketahanan generasi bangsa Indonesiamelalui gerakan pemberdayaan perempuan yang memfasilitasi penguatan keterampilan, kolaborasidan kebermanfaatan secara lebih luas. Metode ceramah, cooperative learning, dan group discussiondigunakansebagaimetodepelatihanpembuatankontenkreatifberbahasaInggrisdenganmenggunakanaplikasiCanvadanSnapseed.Denganmemaksimalkanpenggunaanteknologiinformasi, peserta pelatihan menunjukkan respon positif selama proses pelatihan, mereka aktifberusaha untuk dapat menguasai aplikasi dan menghasilkan konten dakwah yang menunjukkanstyle mereka sebagai generasi Z. Walaupun mengalami sedikit kendala teknis seperti koneksi wifiyangkurangstabildandeviceyangkurangmendukung,pesertabertumbuhdarimemahamipenggunaan aplikasi untuk kebutuhan pribadi seperti eksistensi di media sosial menjadi memahamipenggunaan aplikasi untuk kebermanfaatan yang lebih besar yaitu untuk penyebaran dakwah. Daripelatihan yang berfokus pada hasil visual dua dimensi seperti poster atau photo untuk konten 2314dakwah, pelatihan selanjutnya dapat difokuskan untuk memberi pelatihan pembuatan kontenkreatif dakwah yang menghasilkan ceramah generasi milenial berbahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci:pemberdayaan, perempuan, konten dakwah, Snapseed, Canva
