Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengembangkan Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) berbasis Learning Cycle 5E, (2) mengetahui kualitas Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) berbasis Learning Cycle 5E, (3) mengetahui efektivitas Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) berbasis Learning Cycle 5E untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa. Penelitian dan pengembangan Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) berbasis Learning Cycle 5E menggunakan prosedur penelitian dan pengembangan dari Borg and Gall yang disederhanakan menjadi 9 tahapan yaitu: (1) penelitian pendahuluan dan pengumpulan data, (2) perencanaan, (3) pengembangan produk, (4) uji coba lapangan awal, (5) revisi produk awal, (6) uji coba pelaksanaan lapangan, (7) penyempurnaan produk hasil uji coba lapangan, (8) uji coba pelaksanaan lapangan, (9) penyempurnaan produk akhir. Analisis Data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan: (1) telah berhasil dikembangkan Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) berbasis Learning Cycle 5E pada materi Laju Reaksi yang dilakukan berdasarkan tahapan penelitian dan pengembangan R&D yang terdiri dari 9 tahapan, (2) kualitas Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) berbasis Learning Cycle 5E pada materi Laju Reaksi memiliki kualitas sangat baik pada aspek komponen kelayakan isi, bahasa, penyajian dan kegrafisan dengan persentase sebesar 84,06% berdasarkan penilaian siswa dan 90,88% berdasarkan penilaian guru, (hasil uji efektivitas pada aspek pengetahuan terdapat perbedaan antara kelas eksperimen (pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model Learning Cycle 5E disertai Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) berbasis Learning Cycle 5E ) dan kelas baseline (pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E tanpa disertai Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) berbasis Learning Cycle 5E ),, sedangkan pada aspek sikap dan keterampilan tidak terdapat perbedaan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) Pengaruh metode pembelajaran Make a Match (MM) dan Numbered Head Together (NHT) terhadap prestasi belajar siswa pada materi pokok Sistem Koloid. (2) Pengaruh kemampuan memori terhadap prestasi belajar siswa pada materi pokok Sistem Koloid. (3) Interaksi antara metode Make a Match (MM) dan Numbered Head Together (NHT) dengan kemampuan memori siswa terhadap prestasi belajar siswa pada materi pokok Sistem Koloid.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan rancangan penelitian desain faktorial 2x3. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Kartasura tahun pelajaran 2011/2012. Sampel diambil dengan teknik Cluster Random Sampling sejumlah 2 kelas. Kelas eksperimen 1 (NHT) dan kelas eksperimen 2 (MM). Pengumpulan data data menggunakan tes objektif (prestasi kognitif dan kemampuan memori) dan metode angket (prestasi afektif). Analisis data menggunakan Analisis Variansi Dua Jalan dengan Sel Tak Sama dilanjutkan uji komparasi ganda dengan uji Scheffe. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan: (1) Terdapat pengaruh metode Make a Match (MM) dan Numbered Head Together (NHT) terhadap prestasi belajar kognitif, tetapi tidak terdapat pengaruh metode Make a Match (MM) dan Numbered Head Together (NHT) terhadap prestasi siswa pada materi pokok Sistem Koloid. (2) Terdapat pengaruh kemampuan memori terhadap prestasi belajar kognitif dan afektif terhadap prestasi belajar siswa pada materi pokok Sistem Koloid. (3) Terdapat interaksi antara metode pembelajaran Make a Match (MM) dan Numbered Head Together (NHT) dengan kemampuan memori terhadap prestasi kognitif, tetapi tidak ada interaksi antara metode pembelajaran Make a Match (MM) dan Numbered Head Together (NHT) dengan kemampuan memori terhadap prestasi afektif siswa pada materi Sistem Koloid.Kata kunci : Numbered Head Together, Make a Match, Kemampuan Memori, Prestasi Belajar, Sistem Koloid

Abstract

Experiment is integral part of chemistry. Through experiments, everyone can verify and or find something new as an alternative solution to attract interest in meaningful chemistry learning. Innovative experimental packaging can be done with Small Scale Chemistry (SSC) to establish the importance of understanding and application related to the use of small amounts of reagents and reduce waste produced during chemistry practicum. This study aims to explore and analyze the science process skills of the second semester students of Chemistry Education Study Program, Sanata Dharma University, which focused for chemistry grade 12 in water electrolysis using straws and mini test tubes as physical chemistry’s experiment and formation reaction of silver mirror uses vial bottle and mirror media as experiment of organic chemistry. The results show that students’ science process skills which includes observation skills with good average score, prediction skills with good enough average score, skills in interpreting data with good average scores, and communication skills with good average score for two kind of experiments conducted. In general, students were enthusiastic in carrying out the two SSC experiments. The students also evaluate the experiments to be able to help develop and improve their soft skills in chemistry learning. Abstract

Chemistry learning integrates three components, microscopic, macroscopic, and symbolic. However, during the Corona Virus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic, which lasted approximately two years, it caused delays in the learning process that integrated microscopic, macroscopic, and symbolic components, resulting in a decline in students' understanding. Therefore, community service brings new insights to chemistry teachers in Magelang city and introduces learning activities through small chemistry courses on acid-base titration materials with the theme of neutralization reactions.  This training was conducted by 2 lecturers and 3 students offline at SMAS Tarakanita Magelang. Based on the results of the satisfaction rating, 71.23% of the participants answered that it was very useful and 28.7% of the participants thought it was useful.

Abstract

Watermelon is one of the tropical fruits that has high water and sugar content. However, the selling price of watermelon is still relatively low, and there is limited processing variation. By utilizing the high water and sugar content in watermelon to create an alcoholic beverage, wine is one promising form of innovation. The aim of this research is to determine the difference in alcohol content of wine made from yellow and red watermelon. The samples used in this study were yellow and red watermelons. Yellow and red watermelons fermented with Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast to transform them into wine. The ethanol content in wine and red watermelons was analyzed using GC-MS instruments. Subsequently, the soluble sugar content, pH, IR spectra, as well as the color, taste, and aroma of the wine also analyzed. The research results show that the average ethanol content of yellow and red watermelon wines is 7.59% and 6.61% respectively. The average soluble sugar content in yellow and red watermelon wines is 8.6% Brix and 12.64% Brix, respectively. The pH value of each wine sample is 4, and the IR spectra of each wine sample indicate the presence of stretching OH groups. In conclusion, red watermelon wine has a lower ethanol content than yellow watermelon wine.

Abstract

The use of synthetic dyes in the textile industry has a negative impact on the environment. Therefore, it is necessary to explore natural dyes that are more environmentally friendly. The aim of this research is to find natural dyes from Acalypha siamensis leaves. In this research, compounds contained in A. siamensis extract were identified using FT-IR and GC-MS instruments, then simulations were carried out of the reactions that occurred between cinnamaldehyde (E), cellulose in cotton, and alum mordant using quantum chemistry software. ORCA 5.0.2 and Visual Molecular Dynamics (VMD). The cinnamaldehyde compound is the main constituent compound in A. siamensis leaf extract. Based on the simulation results: the reaction between cinnamaldehyde (E), cellulose in cotton fabric, and alum mordant is energetically favorable. The reaction simulation results are in line with experimental research, the reaction of cellulose in cotton fabric, alum mordant, and cinnamaldehyde produces a brownish green color. A. siamensis leaves have potential as a dye in eco-prints.
