Abstract

This research was done to find out the major types of motivation used by students majoring in either English or in Arabic at the National Islamic University (UIN) Ar-Raniry in Banda Aceh when learning their chosen L2 language. Furthermore, this study tried to find out if there were similarities or differences in the main type of motivation used by students of each of these majors. The results of study were based on a questionairre survey and used qualitative research procedures to obtain the data. In collecting the data, the questionnaire was given to 30 English major students and also to 30 Arabic major students of UIN Ar-Raniry selected by random sampling. The results from this study showed that the English students at UIN Ar-Raniry were more influenced by high integrative motivation in choosing English as their major than by instrumental motivation. In addition, based on the questionnaire result, the students predominantly used integrative motivation in learning English, rather than instrumental motivation: This result was based on the mean score for instrumental motivation being lower than that for integrative motivation, viz: 3.15 vs 4.19. Similarly, the Arabic students at UIN Ar-Raniry were also predominantly influenced by integrative motivation to learn Arabic: This result was based on the  mean score for instrumental motivation  being lower than that for integrative motivation, viz: 3.09 vs 4.29. Based on these results, it can be concluded that both the English major students and the Arabic major students at UIN Ar-Raniry have similarities in the types of motivation that drives them to learn their chosen L2, target language. Students of both majors  were  predominantly driven by integrative motivation  rather than by instrumental motivation.

Abstract

The prevalence of stunted toddlers in Seruyan Regency based on the 2022 nutritional status survey is 34.7%, this shows an increase of 5.4% when compared to the prevalence of stunted toddlers in 2021 of 29.3%. Empowering posyandu cadres in reducing stunting rates is an activity carried out with the aim of enabling posyandu cadres to be empowered and able to reduce stunting rates in Seruyan Regency, thereby reducing the percentage of stunting in Seruyan Regency. This research aims to determine and analyze the empowerment of posyandu cadres in reducing stunting rates in Seruyan Regency. This research is qualitative research by collecting observation, interview and documentation data. The informants who were interview subjects were 8 people, including: 2 heads of the Community Health Center, 1 nutrition officer at the Community Health Center, 1 health promotion officer at the Community Health Center, 2 Posyandu cadres, 2 mothers with toddlers. These informants were taken using a purposive sampling method, namely selecting informants who understand and are involved in reducing stunting. Data analysis in this research uses stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the empowerment of Posyandu cadres in reducing the stunting rate in Seruyan Regency is because assistance to cadres in Posyandu activities is not always accompanied by Puskesmas nutrition officers and there is still a lack of understanding of cadres regarding the activities in Posyandu because cadres are only focused on one activity when serving mothers of toddlers. who came to Posnyandu. Suggestions to the Health Service to be able to add nutrition officers at the Community Health Center, so that every Posyandu activity can always be accompanied by a nutrition officer who is able to provide an understanding of nutrition to mothers who have toddlers, especially toddlers who are stunted. Apart from that, Posyandu cadres can rotate the tasks at each Posyandu, so they can understand the tasks at Posnyandu in order to reduce stunting rates.

Abstract

Non-Communicable Diseases (PTM) are chronic diseases with a long duration with a generally slow healing process or control of clinical conditions. Unhealthy lifestyles such as uncontrolled diet, lack of physical activity, and smoking habits contribute to the increase in the prevalence of NCDs worldwide. Diabetes mellitus is a type of PTM that now infects many people starting from their teenage years. Therefore, this community service was carried out as an initial screening effort related to the health condition of adolescents and young people in Wonorejo hamlet through a series of basic examinations including measurements of height and weight, blood pressure, blood glucose levels at the time, uric acid levels, and blood group tests. Most of the health examinations of adolescents and young people show results within the normal range. This results that the health condition of ORMAMI members is healthy and in the same. This activity is important to be carried out continuously as a preventive measure against various types of diseases.

Abstract

Laboratory tests are used to help diagnose diseases. One of them is the examination of triglyceride levels which is generally performed on obese patients who have a history of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and hypertension. The most commonly used equipment for examining triglycerides are uv-vis spectrophotometers and photometers. The difference between a UV-vis spectrophotometer and a photometer lies in the monochromator. The photometer does not have a monochromator, however the UV-vis spectrophotometer has a monochromator, that functions to eliminate unwanted wavelengths of light components that are not needed for the examination, making it more selective. This study aims to determine the differences in the results of triglyceride level examinations using a UV-vis spectrophotometer and a photometer. This study was a descriptive-analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. The results showed a sig value (2-tailed) of 0.112> 0.05, which means that there is no significant difference in the results of triglyceride examinations with a UV-vis spectrophotometer and a photometer in obese students at Universitas 'Aisyiyah Yogyakarta. Medical Laboratory Technologists are required to regularly and consistently conduct quality control in order to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.

Abstract

Cancer is a disease caused by the abnormal growth of body tissue cells. Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death for women worldwide. The 5-year survival rate approaches 97% when tumor cells are confined to breast tissue and drops dramatically to 23% when tumor cells have metastasized to other organs at the time of diagnosis. Myelosuppression is a side effect of chemotherapy in cancer patients. Myelosuppression is a decrease in the number of hemoglobin, platelets, neutrophils, and leukocytes below normal, leading to anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, and leukocytopenia. This study aims to determine the effect of chemotherapy on leukocyte and platelet counts in breast cancer patients. This study is a qualitative descriptive study that describes the research topic data using a similar approach to the topic of the literature review. The results of this study indicate that most breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy experience a decrease in platelet and leukocyte counts

Abstract

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) extract is known to contain potent antioxidant compounds such as lycopene, vitamin C, and flavonoids that can protect reproductive cells from oxidative stress. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of tomato extract in improving the quality of spermatozoa in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) exposed to cigarette smoke, which is a major source of free radicals. The research applied a literature review approach by identifying, selecting, and analyzing related studies published between 2013 and 2023 from the Google Scholar and Academia.edu databases. Ten eligible studies were included for synthesis. The results show that the administration of tomato extract at doses ranging from 20 to 60 mg/kgBW/day significantly increased sperm motility, morphology, and viability in rats exposed to cigarette smoke. The improvement was associated with the antioxidant effect of lycopene, which protects Leydig cells and maintains testosterone production. These findings suggest that tomato extract has significant potential as a natural antioxidant therapy to prevent oxidative damage and reproductive disorders caused by cigarette smoke exposure.
