Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the effect of the domestic waste of compost growing media and theresidual of waste pit and the combination of both on the contents of N, P, K also the production ofmustard (Brassica oleraceae L.) on inceptisol soil. This research was conducted in the compostyard in Kecamatan Sunggal Kabupaten Deli Serdang and analysis continued in the riset andtechnology laboratory of agricultural faculty of university of North Sumatera. This study usedRandomized Blok Design (RBD) which is consisted of 9 treatments and 3 replications. Thetreatments are M1 (100% soil), M2 (75% soil + 25% compost), M3 (50% soil + 50% compost), M4(25% soil + 75% compost), M5 (75% soil + 25% residues of the waste pit), M6 (50% soil + 50%residues of the waste pit), M7 (25% soil + 75% residues of the waste pit), M8 (50% compost+ 50%residues of the waste pit), M9 (100% residues of the waste pit). Where the result is that theprovision of domestic waste compost and residues of the waste pit and the combination of both,very significantly increased value the pH of the soil, C-organic, N-total, P-available, K-exchange aswell as the production of the wet weight mustard plant on inceptisol soil.

Abstract

The Study of Effect Volcanic Ash Eruption of Sinabung Mountain on the Content of Copper, Lead,and Boron of Soils at Karo District. Have been done at six locations using Soils Survey Method onSeptember 2010 until March 2012. Each of site soil sampling were done by purposive sampling attwo depths (0-5 cm and 0-15 cm) with two replications. The results showed that at 0,5-15 mm ofthickness of volcanic ash containt at very low level Copper, content of Boron were moderate, high,and very high and content of Lead was at admitted level at 0-5 cm and 0-15 cm soil depth at somesites at Karo DistrictKeywords: volcanic ash, copper, lead, and boron

Abstract

The study on the total of biomass of grasses and it’s influences on soil moisture was conducted atSilahisabungan Subdistrict Dairi District, from November 2011 until February 2012. The objectiveof this research was to evaluate the effect of grasses to soil mositure. This study used survey methodwith purposive sampling. The result of this research showed that grass vegetation with rathersloping class total biomass 10,6 ton/ha, carbon reserve 5,3 ton/ha, field capacity 63,4 %, permanentwilting point 1,3 %, water content 62,0 % and permeability 7,5 cm/hours. In the undulating slopestotal biomass 7,1 ton/ha, carbon reserve 3,55 ton/ha, field capacity 51,6 %, permanent wiltingpoint 2,4 %, water content 49,2 % and permeability 7,6 cm/hours. In the rather steep slope totalbiomass 15,5 ton/ha, carbon reserve 7,75 ton/ha, field capacity 32,8 %, permanent wilting point 3,8%, water content 29,0 % and permeability 9,6 cm/hourd. In the forest vegetation with rather slopingclass, biomass total 7,54 ton/ha, carbon reserve 3,77 ton/ha, field capacity 150 %, permanent wiltingpoint 23,5 %, water content 126,5 % and permeability 10,3 cm/hours. In the undulating slopes totalbiomass 6,24 ton/ha, carbon reserve 3,12 ton/ha, field capacity 51,5 %, permanent wilting point 7,5%, water content 44 % and permeability 8,2 cm/hours. In the rather steep slope total biomass 8,86ton/ha, carbon reserve 4,43 ton/ha, field capacity 33,3 %, permanent wilting point 4,2 %, watercontent 29,2 % and permeability 11,25 cm/hours.Key words: biomass, soil moisture, toba lake water catchment area

Abstract

ABSTRACT“Study of Biomass total and The Grass Carbon Reserves and Charateristhic of soil Chemistry incatchment area of Lake Toba: case study at kecamatan Silahisabungan Kabupaten Dairi”. To knowthe biomass production total and carbon reserves and charateristhic of physical chemistry of soil.This study have been done an December 2011 to March 2013. Samples of soil,biomass, and litterwas taken from three types of slopes, they are quite ramps, wavy and a bit steep. The method ofbiomass measurement is “Destructive sampling method” by cutting over all plants part on the landwith the windth is 2m x 2m. Then separated each part , crots, leaves and trunk and pondered the dryweight. The result of this study showed that the biomass production total on grass land is greaterthan on forest land bur charateristhic of physical chemistry of forest lans was better than the grassland.Keyword : biomass, grass, slope, Toba lake water catchment area

Abstract

Liquid Waste of Oil Palm Factory contains nutrients which are required by plants and it can beapplied to the estate crops. This research evaluate the palm oil factory soil chemical applied byliquid waste of oil palm factory at PT Smart Padang Halaban Plantation at Labuhan Batu UtaraDistrict. Soil sampel by using soil sampling method at three different location of research namelycontrol, sela and rorak aplications, six deepness level and three times replicates. Parameters thatmeasured are pH, C, N, C/N and absorption P of plant. Statistical test that used is determined flatvalue and criteria characteristic of soil. The result of research showed they increasing ofcharacteristic chemistry which are apllicated by liquid waste of oil palm factor. Parameters whichexperience increasing is pH, C, N, C/N and absorption P of plant.Keywords : evaluation, characteristics chemistry of soil, liquid waste of oil palm

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the influence of endomycorrhizae on bioremediationheavy metals of Cd, Cu, and Pb. The research was conducted from April 2012 until February 2013used non factorial randomized block design with 5 replications and 5 treatments. Applications ofheavy metals treatments are: Control (non-application of endomycorrhizae and heavy metals), L0(application of endomycorrhizae and non-application of heavy metals), L1 (application ofendomycorrhizae and heavy metals Cd 1,5 ppm, Cu 20 ppm, and Pb 60 ppm), L2 (application ofendomycorrhizae and heavy metals Cd 2,25 ppm, Cu 25 ppm, and Pb 200 ppm), and L3 (applicationof endomycorrhizae and heavy metals Cd 3 ppm, Cu 30 ppm, and Pb 340 ppm). Heavy metals wereapplied 3 weeks before planted and endomycorrhizae was applied when planting. The plants keptuntil vegatative phase in the screen house.The result of this research showed that the application of endomycorrhizae decreased Cu and Pbavailablity in soil. In the plants, application of mycorrhizae decreased Pb uptake. Applications ofendomycorrhizae and heavy metals increasing mycorrhizae infection rates, but has no effect toheavy metals uptake, shoot dry weights, root dry weights, and pH H2O soil. Heavy metalsavailability in soil only significant to Pb availability after heavy metals applications.

Abstract

The effect of domestyc waste compost and residual of household waste compost for Pb and Cd andmustard (Brassica oleraceae L.) product.This research is done in the land of cassa room ofagricultural faculty and is analised central labor of agricultural faculty, North Sumatera University.The design of this research is arranged in non-factorial random design which is consisting of 9treatments with 3 replications. The treatmentis treatmentis M1 (100% Soil), M2 (75% Soil + 25%domestyc waste compost), M3 (50% Soil + 50 % domestyc waste compost), M4 (25 % Soil + 75 %domestyc waste compost), M5(75% Soil + 25 % residual of household waste compost), M6 (50%Soil + 50% residual of household waste compost), M7(25% % Soil + 75% residual of householdwaste compost), M8 (50 % domestyk waste compost + 50 residual of household waste compost),M9 (100 % residual of household waste compost). The result of this research is showed thatcomposing domestyc waste compost and residual of household waste compost and combination ofboth very significantly increased to increase pH soil, Pb, Cd soil and production of weigh themustard in a good treatment is M3 (50% Soil + 50% domestyc waste compost) is 142,47 g.Keywords : domestyc waste compost, residual of household waste compost, Pb and Cd soil andmustard

Abstract

Evaluation of soil nutrient status is one way to be able to determine the nutrient needs of the soiland the management techniques that will be performed on an area of land. This study aimed toevaluate the nutrient status of the soil (pH, N, P, K, Ca, Mg) based on the position of the land in thecore Gambir Garden Pakpak Bharat District. It was conducted at the core Gambir Garden PakpakBharat District, North Sumatra on March 2013 until June 2013. The method used in this research isdescriptive method by conducting surveys and soil sampling based on the position of the land whichis on the top of the hill, hillside and valley side. The results showed soil nutrient status of N in CorePlant Gambir Garden Pakpak Bharat District. is likely to increase in the valley compared to the topof the hill and hillside. As for the value of pH and P are highly the same, while the value of K, Caand Mg rate tends to decrease.Keyword: land position, soil nutrients, gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb.)

Abstract

The research were to evaluate the effect of giving rice waste harvest and potassium fertilizer and its interaction to increasing potassium nutrient, the growth and the production of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merill.). Already implementeded at gauze house and at laboratory Research and Technology of Agricultural Faculty of North Sumatera University, Medan from April to August 2014. The method used Factorial Randomized Complete Design with two factor and three replicatiosn. First factor is rice waste that is no giving rice waste (J0), straw compost 5 ton ha-1 (J1), straw charcoal 5 ton ha-1 (J2) and husk 5 ton ha-1 (J3) and the second factor is potassium fertilizer or Muriate of Potash (MOP) that is 0 kg ha-1 (K0), 50 kg ha-1 (K1), 100 kg ha-1 (K2), and 150 kg ha-1 (K3). The results showed that the rice waste increase K-exc and the highest by husk 5 ton ha-1 treatment. Potassium also increasing K-exc and the highest by 100 kg ha-1 treatment. Application of rice waste harvest and potassium fertilizer were not effected in soil pH, C-organic, K plant uptake, the growth, and the crop production.Keywords : straw compost, straw charcoal, husk, potassium fertilizer, soybean.

Abstract

Gogo rice as one of many commodities developed on sloping topography, thus potentially increasing run off a water and soil erosion that will transport nutrients to the other place. The aim of the research was to know the Erosion Selectivity on Land Cultivation of Gogo Rice in Countryside of Lau Damak Distric of Bahorok Sub-Province Langkat. The research was conducted from September until November 2014 through 2 stages of activity, it was fieldwork and laboratory activities. The Stages of fieldwork has done in village at Lau Damak District of Bahorok Langkat on 15% slope. The results of field activities was analysis in agriculture faculty laboratory,University of North Sumatra, Medan. The reseach use a t-test to differentiate the nutrients at upper, center, and bottom of the slope. The selectivity of erosion can be seen from the changes in the levels of clay and organic Carbon in the upper, middle and lower slopes. Selectivity erosion can also be seen from the changes, total-N, available P, pH, K, CEC, and soil texture on the part of the slope.The results showed that the Organic Carbon and Total-Nitrogen were significantly differenton the slopes position.Key words : Soil Erosion, selectivity erosion, gogo rice
