Abstract

Research compound betasitosterol from the bark of plant of Artocarpus camansi (kulu) and test its antidiabetic has been done. The study begins by extracting samples (3.5 kg),w in the solvent of hexane, hexane extracts obtained,then separated by gravity column chromatography, and was characterized by GC-MS. The results obtained are groups of fractions A, and B. From phytochemical test results, the fraction of group B, has a steroid framework. Group fractions B after rechromatographed is obtained a pure isolates of B. Characterization by 1H-NMR and MS (from GC-MS), pure isolate of B is β-sitosterol. Antidiabetic activity test results showed that the extract of n-hexane, fraction group A and fraction group of B  (containing βsitosterol), can lower blood sugar levels male Swiss Webster mice were performed by the method of glucose tolerance. Dose of extract of n-hexane is  50 mg/dL at minute 30th, 60th and 90th can lower glucose as much as 103 mg/dL; 71 mg/dL; and 49.33 mg/dL. Group of  fraction A of a dose 50 mg/dL at 60th minutes and 90th can lower blood glucose of mice are: 116 mg/dL; and 58 mg/dL. Group B fraction (containing β-sitosterol) at a dose of 50 mg/dL at minute 30th, 60th and 90th can lower glucose by 73 mg/dL; 87 mg/dL; and 73.33 mg/dL. Group fraction of B is the highest in lowering blood glucose average compared with n-hexane extract and group A. Analysis of variance of this fraction were performed by using ANOVA Post hoc analysis procedures one-way of, significant differences (p0.05) and (p 0.01) conducted using Tukey.

Abstract

Garlic (Allium sativum) contains organosulfur compound that plays an important role as an antibacterial and antifungal activities. Ascorbic acid or vitamine C also has been show has a good activity as an antioxidant and as an antifungal. The aims of the research is to determine the effect of the combination of petroleum ether garlic extract with vitamin C against Candida albicans. Zone of inhibition testing done by Kirby-Bauer method. The results showed that the combination of petroleum ether garlic extract with vitamin C in concentration of 50% did not show an activity significantly. Meanwhile, the activity of petroleum ether garlic extract alone at concentration of 50 and 75% showed activities towards Candida albicans with a diameter of inhibition zone are 19.46 and 27.46 mm respectively.

Abstract

Abstract - In Indonesia, Bengkoang (Phacyrhizus erosus) have been used as one of cosmetics especially as sun screening and skin whitening materials. Six active compounds in Bengkoang with antioxidant and skin whitening activities have been isolated, namely daidzein, daidzin, genistin, (8,9)-furanyl-pterocarpan-3-ol, 4-(2-(furane-2-yl)ethyl)-2-methyl-2,5-dihydro-furane-3-carbaldehyde and 2-butoxy-2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)-tetrahydrofurane-3,4-diol. According to literatures, the type of their tyrosinase inhibitory activity has not yet reported. The determination of whitening activity of each compound was evaluated by the evaluation of Lineweaver-Burk plot. The result showed that five compounds had competitive inhibitory activity and 8,9-furanyl-pterocarpan-3-ol showed a non-competitive inhibition. Keywords: Pachyrhizus erosus, tyrosinase, competitive inhibition and non-competitive inhibition

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui aktivitas sulfur dan selenium nanopartikel terhadap cacing Steinernema feltiae (S. feltiae) dan perbandingan toksisitasnya terhadap sel neuroblastoma (neuro 2A). Sulfur dan selenium nanopartikel “aqueous nanoparticles” dikarakterisasimenggunakan Nano Zetasizer pada pH 7 dan suhu 25 C. Dalam penelitian ini uji nematoda dilakukan terhadap S. feltiae. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sulfur nanopartikel mempunyai aktivitas yang sangat tinggi terhadap S. feltiae dengan lethal dose 50 (LD50) berkisar pada 6,99 μg/ml setelah 24 jam inkubasi. Sementara itu, live and dead assay dilakukan terhadap neuroblastoma sel (Neuro 2A cell lines). Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa ‘aqueous’ sulfur nanopartikel (NPS) menunjukkan aktivitas yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan ‘aqueous’ selenium nanopartikel (NPSe) terhadap sel neuroblastoma (neuro 2A cell lines) dengan IC50 1 μg/ml.

Abstract

Blang Krueng Village has potential in the field of animal husbandry, but the livestock raised is still traditional, so that many livestock lack feed, this causes the supply of minerals to the livestock's body to decrease. Urea molasses multinutrient block (UMMB) is one of the additional feeds with a high content of nutritional supplements, especially minerals for ruminants in solid form. The purpose of the service activity is to increase community income based on the development of the ability of the farmer community by increasing the knowledge and skills of farmers regarding technology for making nutrient block and capa leaf cream to increase their cattle production. The method that used in this activity is to use the approach of community participation methods in development or Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). The results of this activity showed that 95% of participants are interested in practicing, developing, and transmitting their knowledge of how to make UMMB and capa leaf cream to members of farmer groups around them. The conclusion, farmers will share the knowledge that has been obtained during the service to other farmer group members as the target group of service activities.

Abstract

Ecoprint merupakan salah satu produk tekstil yang sedang diminati konsumen secara global. Material yang mudah didapatkan di alam berupa tumbuhan, proses pembuatan yang praktis, dan mempunyai harga jual yang sangat kompetitif di pasar menjadikan keahlian memproduksi ecoprint sangat diminati oleh masyarakat dan siswi di sekolah. Kegiatan pengabdian ini terdiri dari beberapa tahap, yaitu observasi dan koordinasi, persiapan, implementasi kegiatan, evaluasi produk, serta pemasaran. Dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini dihasilkan sejumlah produk ecoprint berupa batik ecoprint dengan pewarna alami dan dihiasi dengan berbagai motif tumbuhan yang terdapat di sekitar masyarakat. Siswi dan guru di SMKN 1 Darul Kamal telah mengusai teknologi ecoprint dan mampu menghasilkan produk dengan kualitas baik dan harga yang kompetitif. Para peserta diharapkan dapat mentransfer keahliannya kepada pihak lain sehingga kemapuan memproduksi ecoprint dapat lebih menyebar ke masyarakat.
