Abstract

ABSTRAKPermasalahan yang dihadapi oleh Kelompok tani Suka Maju hingga saat ini yaitu masih menggunakan metode manual dalam proses penanaman benih jagung, hal ini membuat waktu pengerjaan lebih lama dan posisi lubang tidak sejajar dan presisi. Dampak dari dua hal tersebut yaitu akan menambah biaya tenaga kerja dan posisi jagung yang tidak sejajar ataupun berhimpitan akan membuat petumbuhan tanaman jagung tidak optimal. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan teknologi alat penanam benih tipe row seeder untuk mengurangi jerih kerja petani pada saat proses penanaman benih khususnya tanaman jagung. Kegiatan PKM ini dilakukan di lahan Kelompok tani Suka Maju  Kelurahan Juata Laut Kecamatan Tarakan Utara, Kota Tarakan. Kegiatan ini dibagi dalam beberapa tahapan yaitu survey, sosialisasi, pembuatan alat, bimbingan teknis serta evaluasi pelaksanaan dan keberlanjutan program oleh Kelompok Tani. Kegiatan PKM penerapan teknologi alat penanam tipe row seeder di kelompok tani Suka Maju berjalan dengan baik serta para petani bersemangat untuk mengaplikasikan alat penanam di setiap lahan mereka. Selain itu terjadi peningkatan efisiensi dalam proses budidaya tanaman jagung dikelompok tani suka maju yaitu proses penananam jagung bisa lebih cepat 45% dibandingkan pada saat penanaman benih jagung secara manual Kata kunci: penerapan; alat penanam benih jagung; tipe row seeder. ABSTRACTThe problem faced by the Suka Maju farmer group until now is that they still use manual methods in the process of planting corn seeds, this makes the processing time longer and the position of the planting holes is not parallel and precise. The impact of these two things is that it will increase labor costs and the position of corn that is not parallel or coincides will make corn plant growth not optimal. This service aims to apply row seeder type seed planter technology to reduce the labor of farmers during the seed planting process, especially for corn plants. This PKM activity was carried out on agricultural land belonging to the Suka Maju farmer group, Juata Laut Village, North Tarakan District, Tarakan City. This activity is divided into several stages, namely survey, socialization, tool making, technical guidance and evaluation of the implementation and sustainability of the program by the Farmer Group. The PKM activity for the application of row seeder type planter technology in the Suka Maju farmer group is going well and the farmers are excited to apply the planter in each of their lands. In addition, there is an increase in efficiency in the corn cultivation process in the advanced farmer group, namely the corn planting process can be 45% faster than when planting corn seeds manually. Keywords: application; corn seed planter; row seeder type.

Abstract

Kalimantan Utara merupakan salah satu provinsi yang berbatasan langsung dengan Negara Malaysia perlu didukung untuk dapat berkembang sehingga masyarakatnya tidak tergantung dengan produk-produk pertanian dari daerah Negara lain. Salah satu hal yang bisa dilakukan guna mendukung hal tersebut adalah dengan menerapkan program pertanian terpadu. Desa batu kajang merupakan salah satu desa terluar di wilayah Kalimantan Utara dan sebagian besar masyarakatnya bermata pencaharian sebagai petani tanaman hortikultura, permasalahan yang ada di desa Batu Kajang yaitu masyarakatnya belum banyak yang memiliki usaha sampingan lain untuk menunjang ekonomi keluarga sehingga masyarakat disana hanya bergantung pada pendapatan hasil panen yang dijual kepasar. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Desa Batu Kajang Kabupaten Malinau Provinsi Kalimantan Utara. Mekanisme kegiatan dibagi kedalam beberapa tahapan yaitu survei, sosialisasi, pelatihan dan evaluasi kegiatan. Kegiatan pelatihan merupakan kegiatan puncak dari PKM yaitu bimbingan teknis kepada masyarakat mengenai pembuatan instalasi hidroponik dan pembuatan kolam terpal untuk ikan lele. Tahapan pelatihan terdiri dari beberapa tahapan diantaranya pembuatan instalasi hidroponik, Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berjalan dengan baik ditunjukkan dengan antuasisme masyarakat desa batu kajang yang sangat besar dalam mengikuti pelatihan tersebut. Budidaya tanaman secara hidroponik dan ternak lele merupakan salah satu solusi terbaik sebagai usaha sampingan dalam meningkatkan pendapatan ekonomi keluarga.

Abstract

Tomat memiliki prospek pasar yang baik dan banyak ditanam oleh petani. Kehilangan produksi tomat dapat disebabkan oleh infestasi patogen. Fusarium oxysporum adalah patogen dari golongan cendawan yang menyerang tanaman tomat. Teknik pengendalian yang dapat diterapkan bagi penyakit ini adalah pengendalian hayati yang memanfaatkan mikroorganisme seperti Trichoderma. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dosis optimal biopestisida berbahan aktif Trichoderma dalam mengendalikan penyakit layu F. oxysporum pada tanaman tomat. Penelitian ini dilakukan di lahan percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Borneo Tarakan. Penelitian ini terdiri atas 5 perlakuan yang diulang sebanyak 5 kali dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 3 tanaman per ulangan. Perlakuannya terdiri atas B0: Kontrol, B1: 2,5 gram biopestisida merek A per tanaman, B2: 5 gram biopestisida merek A per tanaman, B3: 2,5 gram biopestisida merek B per tanaman, dan B4: 5 gram biopestisida merek B per tanaman. Data pengamatan dianalisis sidik ragam dan diuji lanjut menggunakan uji beda nyata terkecil taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukan biopestisida mampu menekan intensitas penyakit layu F. oxysporum hingga 62,4% (B1) dan mampu menjaga kerusakan tanaman ± 50% lebih baik dibandingkan kontrol sehingga tanaman mampu memproduksi rata – rata 6.20 jumlah total buah dengan berat buah rata – rata 50,69 gram.

Abstract

Abstrak. Pengeringan merupakan faktor penting dari pengolahan kopi, tanpa pengeringan yang tepat baik itu pengeringan mekanis maupun secara tradisional kualitas biji kopi tidak akan memenuhi standar yang disyaratkan. Proses pengeringan yang baik tidak hanya berpengaruh terhadap sifat fisik biji kopi seperti tingkat kadar air, namun juga meningkatkan citarasa dan aroma dari biji kopi tersebut. Karakteristik terbaik yang diperoleh dari biji kopi setelah proses pengeringan akan menentukan kualitas produk kopi di pasaran. penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh metode pengeringan terhadap penurunan kadar air dan sifat organoleptik biji kopi arabika dan robusta sehingga didapatkan metode terbaik dalam pengolahan kopi. 50 kg biji kopi Arabica dan robusta dikeringkan di bawah sinar matahari dengan menggunakan alas terpal, sedangkan 50 kg sisanya dikeringkan menggunakan mesin pengering biji-bijian tipe batch. Uji organoleptik (rasa dan aroma) menggunakan metode uji Hedonik dan diolah dengan analisis sidik ragam. Pengeringan biji kopi secara mekanis menunjukkan penurunan kadar air yang lebih cepat (17jam) daripada pengeringan secara tradisional (23 jam). Hasil pengujian rasa dan aroma menunjukkan biji kopi Arabica yang dikeringkan menggunakan mesin pengering mekanis lebih disukai panelis dengan nilai uji hedonik tertinggi (67 dan 63 poin). The Effect of Drying Methods on the Characteristics and Organoleptics of Arabica Coffee Beans (Coffeae Arabica) and Robusta Coffee Beans (Coffeae Cannephora) Abstract. Drying is an important factor in coffee processing, without proper drying, both mechanical drying and traditionally the quality of coffee beans will not meet the required standards. A good drying process not only affects the physical properties of coffee beans such as the level of water content, but also increases the flavor and aroma of the coffee beans. The best characteristics obtained from coffee beans after the drying process will determine the quality of coffee products on the market. This study aims to determine the effect of drying method on decreasing water content and organoleptic properties of arabica and robusta coffee beans so that the best method in coffee processing is obtained. 50 kg of Arabica and robusta coffee beans are dried under the sun by using terpal, while the remaining 50 kg is dried using a batch-type grain drying machine. Organoleptic test (taste and aroma) using Hedonic test method and processed by analysis of variance. Mechanical drying of coffee beans shows a decrease in water content faster (17 hours) than traditional drying (23 hours). The taste and aroma test results showed Arabica coffee beans dried using a mechanical drying machine were preferred by panelists with the highest hedonic test values (67 and 63 points).

Abstract

The processing of coconuts into Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is an alternative coconut processing method with strong potential for development in North Kalimantan, considering the region’s favorable environmental conditions for coconut cultivation. Over the past three years, coconut production in North Kalimantan has continued to decline, even though the number of productive coconut plantations remains relatively high. This decline in production is primarily attributed to the low bargaining price of fresh coconuts in the region. Therefore, alternative coconut processing strategies are needed to restore the economic value and purchasing power of coconuts. One promising coconut processing product is VCO. VCO can be produced using a fermentation technique that utilizes microorganisms present in yeast. In the fermentation-based VCO processing method, coconut milk is first allowed to settle until it forms a cream layer. The cream is then inoculated with yeast containing microorganisms such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Rhizopus oligosporus. These microorganisms produce protease and lipase enzymes, which hydrolyze the oil in the coconut cream with a high moisture content. Differences in processing techniques can influence the oil yield obtained. The use of yeast in VCO fermentation, combined with longer fermentation times, is expected to increase the yield. In this study, VCO was produced using yeast as a fermentation starter, and the resulting VCO was subsequently analyzed for quality. The experiment employed a Randomized Block Design (RBD). Two factors were observed: the type of yeast, consisting of V (without yeast), VR (bread yeast), and VT (tape yeast), and fermentation time, consisting of T1 (36 hours), T2 (48 hours), and T3 (60 hours). Each treatment was replicated three times, resulting in 9 treatments × 3 replications = 27 experimental units. The produced VCO was then analyzed for yield, as well as its physical and chemical properties. The results showed that treatment VRT3 (bread yeast with a fermentation time of 60 hours) produced the highest yield, reaching 25%. Furthermore, longer fermentation times resulted in higher VCO yields

Abstract

The root-knot nematodes Meloidogyne incognita poses a serious threat to horticultural food and plantation crops. One of the effective and efficient measures to overcome this nematode is using bacteria as a biological control agent. This study aimed to test the effectiveness of Bacillus subtilis bacteria grown on media with additional micronutrients as a biological control agent for M. incognita. The test was carried out by growing bacteria in 100 mL of nutrient broth (NB) added with FeCl2, MnCl2, and CuCl2. Each type of micronutrient was administered at concentrations of 35 ppm, 40 ppm, 45 ppm, 50 ppm, and 55 ppm. As a control, NB media was used without the addition of micronutrients. The test results showed that the best performances on bacterial growth were 55 ppm MnCl2, 45 ppm MnCl2, 40 ppm MnCl2, 40 ppm CuCl2, 50 ppm MnCl2, and 35 ppm MnCl2. These six treatments were then used in an antagonism test. A total of 150 J2 M. incognita in 4 mL of suspension was put into a petri dish with a diameter of 5 cm. After that, 1 mL of each bacterial suspension was put into a petri dish following the treatment. The mortality rate of M. incognita in each treatment was 77.5% in 55 ppm MnCl2, 74.5% in 45 ppm MnCl2, 77.25% in 40 ppm MnCl2, 73.25% in 40 ppm CuCl2, 78.75% in 50 ppm MnCl2, 79% in 35 ppm MnCl2, and 53.25% in control. The same six treatments were also used to measure the chemotaxis index of M. incognita on tomato roots. Tomato seeds of the Tantyna variety were soaked for 60 minutes in a bacterial suspension grown on micronutrient-enriched media. After seven days, the tomato seed roots were removed and placed in 5 mL 20% Pluronic F-127 Gel which had been infested with 100 J2 M. incognita. After 6 hours, the number of nematodes approaching the roots was observed. The chemotaxis index in the treatments ranged from 16% to 24%, while that in the control was 33%. This study corroborates that the addition of micronutrients MnCl2 and CuCl2 to the growth medium of B. subtilis can increase antagonistic activity against M. incognita and suppress its chemotaxis response in tomato roots soaked in the bacterial suspension.
