Abstract

Introduction: Varicose veins are a manifestation of venous insufficiency syndrome where in this syndrome the blood flow in the veins experiences a retrograde flow direction or backflow towards the legs which then experiences congestion. Minimally invasive surgical therapy such as Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) causes pain, so therapy is needed to reduce pain, one of which is with cold compresses Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of cold compresses on pain Methods: The design of this study was observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach, using total sampling technique with a sample of 36 respondents. This research instrument used an observation sheet with a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Data analysis with the Wilcoxon test with SPSS IBM Version 23Results:The results showed that most respondents (pre-test) were 23 (63.9%), while most (post-test) experienced mild pain 32 respondents (88.9%). The results of the Wilcoxon statistical test obtained a p value = 0.000, which can be concluded that there is an average difference between pre-test and post-test painConclusions: The application of cold compresses can help post-operative patients to reduce the intensity of pain, by giving cold compresses, patients who experience pain feel a cold sensation given using a cold pack on the area of the former operation or around the area of the former operation can smooth blood circulation, reduce post-operative edema that has been performed so that patients feel reduced pain after being given the cold compress

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious chronic disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria that can attack the lungs but can also affect various other organs such as the pleura, lymph nodes, bones, and other extra-pulmonary organs. Adherence to medication is the patient's attitude toward taking medication as recommended. This study used the purposive sampling technique with a retrospective approach; the sample consisted of 40 respondents. Data were collected by looking at medical record data and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that of the 40 patients studied, there were 13 who were compliant and 10 who were declared cured. The results of the statistical test analysis obtained a pvalue so is rejected and is accepted. So there is a relationship between adherence to medication and recovery status. There are still many pulmonary TB patients who are not cured because they are not compliant with treatment. Adherence to taking medication is an important indicator of the patient's recovery status, but compliance is influenced by a lack of awareness of the importance of treatment, such as preferring herbal remedies, not wanting to take medicine again because they feel their body is healthy, and not controlling because of long-term out-of-town work. So that strong support is needed both from the family, health workers, and also from pulmonary TB survivors.

Abstract

Children with mild intellectual disability (ID) typically have an IQ ranging between 50 and 70. They retain the capacity to learn basic reading, writing, and arithmetic, and can adapt to social life with appropriate guidance. However, they frequently experience difficulties in concentrating, comprehending abstract concepts, and completing complex tasks. Consequently, they require specialized education and therapy to ensure their potential is developed optimally.  This study aims to determine the effect of the engklek traditional game on improving concentration and social skills in children with mild intellectual disability. The community service activities employed explanation and Q&A sessions, demonstration and re-demonstration, followed by evaluation. The traditional game of engklek was found to enhance both concentration and social skills in children with mild intellectual disabilities.  The engklek game has a positive influence on improving the concentration and social skills of children with mild intellectual disability. Through the activity of playing engklek, children are trained to focus on game rules, regulate their movements precisely, and sustain attention throughout the activity. This process was proven effective in increasing their concentration ability. Furthermore, Engklek also provides opportunities for children to interact with peers, learn to wait their turn, cooperate, and adhere to group rules. These activities help enhance children's social skills in communication and socialization. Therefore, the engklek game can be utilized as an enjoyable and effective learning method for improving the concentration and social skills of children with mild intellectual disability in special education settings.

Abstract

Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is an important skill that nursing students must master. The pandemic period and the development of the digital era have become a challenge in teaching clinical skills to nursing students. One of the methods that is considered effective is Hybrid learning, which is a combination of online and conventional learning. Studies on the effectiveness of hybrid learning, especially in clinical skills CPR, are still very limited. This study aims to determine the effect of hybrid learning on skills of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) of Nursing students of Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a posttest only control group design. The sample consisted of the intervention group and the control group consisted of 68 students. The research instrument uses CPR Standard Operational Procedure in the institution. The results showed that the skills mean of the blended learning intervention group was lower than the conventional learning method control group. Statistical test results using Mann Whitney showed that there was no significant effect of the hybrid learning method on skills (P=0.224>0,05). A student-centered virtual learning environment and an instructor-led laboratory approach for practicing nursing skills independently are necessary for students to be actively engaged and master the required competencies.
