Abstract

Plant extract-mediated green synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) is currently gaining significant interest in the field of nanotechnology. In this study, AuNPs were synthesized using an aqueous extract of Andaliman fruit (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.). The formation of AuNPs was confirmed by observing the color change of the solution from clear to cherry red. The reaction parameters, namely the extract concentration and the ratio of the mixture of the extract with HAuCl4 solution, were optimized for the AuNPs biosynthesis. The gold nanoparticles were characterized using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer, SEM-EDS, and particle size analyzer. The characterization suggested that AuNPs had a maximum wavelength ranging of 540–559 nm, with spherical crystals morphology where the highest component was gold at 36.01% and the size below 100 nm on average. The antioxidant activity of the synthesized AuNPs was determined using the DPPH method. It showed that the highest free radical scavenging activity was 83%, given by 20 ppm AuNPs.

Abstract

Analisis kualitatif dengan pereaksi warna merupakan metode pendahuluan yang dapat dilakukan untuk menentukan keberadaan suatu zat. Perbedaan sensitivitas pada tiap pereaksi terhadap suatu zat dapat berbeda-beda. Uji kuantitatif tetrasiklin pada sampel menggunakan metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis memerlukan metode ekstraksi yang paling optimal sehingga memberikan hasil yang baik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari batas deteksi suatu pereaksi warna terhadap tetrasiklin, dan analisis kuantitatif yang diawali dengan optimasi metode ekstraksi tetrasiklin dari sampel. Selain itu juga dilakukan validasi metode analisis tetrasiklin dengan spektrofotometri UV-Vis yang meliputi parameter linearitas, LOD dan LOQ, presisi, serta akurasi. Pada penelitian ini telah dipelajari respon dari 2 pereaksi warna terhadap larutan baku tetrasiklin. Pereaksi formalin 37% dan asam sulfat 98% dapat mendeteksi larutan tetrasiklin sampai konsentrasi terkecil yaitu 500 ppm. Pada penelitian ini juga dilakukan perbandingan metode ekstraksi Buffer McIlvaine pH 4-NaEDTA dan Buffer McIlvaine pH 4-metanol. Diperoleh bahwa metode ekstraksi Buffer McIlvaine pH 4-metanol yang efisien digunakan untuk mengekstraksi tetrasiklin dalam sampel daging ayam, yang hasil ekstraksinya diukur dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Metode pengukuran tetrasiklin menggunakan metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis telah divalidasi, sehingga diperoleh nilai: LOD 0,9982 ppm; LOQ 3,3275 ppm; %RSD 1,01% dan 1,36%; serta nilai recovery sebesar 100,66 %.

Abstract

Minyak Kelapa merupakan minyak yang diperoleh dari daging buah kelapa tua segar dan diproses dengan diperas dengan atau tanpa pemanasan tidak lebih dan 60°C dan aman di konsumsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui mutu dari minyak kelapa sesuai SNI 7381-2008. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan uji mutu yaitu uji kadar air, uji bilangan iod, uji kadar asam lemak, uji bilangan peroksida. Hasil uji mutu pada minyak kelapa (VCO) ini diperoleh kadar air 0,19%, bilangan iod 6,38 gram iod/100 gram, asam lemak bebas 0,18%, bilangan peroksida 0,66 mgrek/g dimana hasil tersebut telah memenuhi standar SNI 7381-2008

Abstract

Nanopartikel perak (NPAg) adalah partikel logam perak yang memiliki ukuran kurang dari 100 nm. NPAg memiliki beberapa keunggulan, salah satunya sebagai katalis dalam proses fotodegradasi. NPAg diperoleh dengan mereduksi AgNO3menggunakan ekstrak air buah andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.). Metode sintesis ini sangat efektif karena cepat, tidak beracun dan teknologi yang ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensintesis NPAg optimum dan aplikasinya dalam proses fotodegradasi Indigosol Blue berupa volume, waktu iradiasi, dan pH optimum. Sintesis NPAg diamati menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-VIS sedangkan ukurannya diamati menggunakan PSA (Particle Size Analyzer). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sintesis NPAg terbaik menggunakan AgNO3 1x10-3 M pada suhu 60°C dengan ukuran NPAg 9,04 nm. NPAg yang terbentuk stabil selama ± 35 hari. Kondisi optimum fotodegradasi adalah menggunakan 2 mL NPAg selama 4 jam irradiasi pada pH 3. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa NPAg mampu menurunkan konsentrasi zat warna Indigosol Blue sampai dengan 94,75%.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a very high level of consumption of cooking oil where the amount of used cooking oil waste, is also very high in Indonesia. In general, this waste is not utilized optimally resulting in environmental pollution. To overcome the problems associated with used cooking oil, efforts are made so that this waste does not pollute the environment. One of the uses of used cooking oil is making aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil. Aromatherapy candles are candles that are made by adding fragrances with various purposes and benefits that can be used as room fresheners and to calm down. Counseling and candle making training was attended by members of the youth posyandu in Sibang Kaja Village, Abiansemal District. Participants experienced an increase in knowledge after being given an explanation regarding the manufacture of aromatherapy candle products with an initial value of 77.2% and a final value of 91.2%. From these data it shows that the difference in the average knowledge value of the participants' pretest and posttest is 14%. The existence of this value difference indicates that there is a difference between knowledge among the community before counseling and making aromatherapy candles and after this activity is carried out.

Abstract

Kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix DC.) is an economical product and has high health value. Generally, kaffir lime peel is the part that contains a lot of essential oils, so it is used by community groups in Badung Regency, Bali, specifically in Dalung Village, to extract this essential oil. The aim of this activity is of course to chemically test the quality of the products that partners have produced which will then provide knowledge to partners about the importance of producing good quality so that the products produced are able to compete in society. A GC-MC (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy) test was carried out on this essential oil to determine the content of the essential oil that has been produced by the partner, where the GC-MS results showed that the essential oil of kaffir lime skin produced by the partner was 81,90% citronella compounds. In this service activity, community understanding regarding essential oils was also carried out, where with this activity, community understanding increased as seen from the pre-test and post-test scores.

Abstract

Olive oil is oil obtained from olives (Olea europaea L.). Olive oil contains high in oleic acid so it can be used as an anticholesterol. This study aims to determine the quality of olive oil according to SNI 01-4474-1998 and its anticholesterol activity by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. In this research, olive oil quality test was conducted, namely water content test using the thermogravimetric method, fatty acid content test using an alkalimetric titration method based on an acid-base reaction, saponification test using the acidimetric method, and iodine number test using the iodometric titration method. The method of testing the anticholesterol activity of olive oil was carried out in vitro using Lieberman-Burchard reagent. The results of the quality test on olive oil obtained water content of 0.03%, free fatty acids 1.73%, saponification number 190.90 mgKOH/g, iodine number 91.25g iodine/100g, where these results have met the SNI 01-4474-1998 standard. The results of the anticholesterol test showed a decrease in free cholesterol levels by 39.76%. Olive oil shows anticholesterol activity due to the presence of oleic acid or MUFA (Mono Unsaturated Fatty Acids)

Abstract

The utilization of methylene blue dye in the textile industry can have a significant environmental impact due to its high toxicity. To address this issue, a study was conducted on the photodegradation of methylene blue dye using silver nanoparticles (AgNP) synthesized with marigold (Tagetes erecta) flower extract as a bioreducer. This article reports on the synthesis of AgNP and its application in the photodegradation of methylene blue dye. The synthesis of AgNP involved the reduction of AgNO3 with marigold flower extract. Different ratios of marigold flower extract to AgNO3 solution (0.01 M) were used: 1:9, 2:8, 3:7, 4:6, and 5:5. The formation of AgNP was monitored at various time intervals using UV-Vis spectroscopy. The best AgNP sample was measured using a Particle Size Analyzer (PSA). The research results indicated that the optimal conditions were achieved at a marigold extract to AgNO3 ratio of 2:8, with the UV-Vis spectrum showing a peak at a wavelength of 411 nm. The optimum conditions for photodegradation were as follows: AgNP volume of 15 mL, irradiation for 30 minutes, and pH 4. Under these conditions, photodegradation of methylene blue dye achieved a reduction of up to 72.46% from the initial concentration of 100 ppm.

Abstract

Hemodialysis (HD) in its implementation is reported to cause complications. Complications may cause the patients to receive >3 types of drugs and decrease their medication adherence. This study aimed to analyze the association between the number of complications and the number of drugs, and the association between the number of drugs with medication adherence in End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients. This research was conducted at the private hospital Denpasar in March-May 2021 with a cross-sectional design involving 93 respondents. The purposive sampling technique was used according to inclusion criteria (ESRD patients with complications, undergoing HD at least twice a week, signing informed consent) and exclusion criteria (having poor or unstable health, unable to communicate well). The research instrument used was a questionnaire (ESRD-AQ). The Mann-Whitney test and Kendall tau-b test were used to analyze the association in this study. The results showed that the majority of patients were <65 years old (83.9%), male (66.7%), 35.5% high school education, still working (51.6%), and long of diagnosed with ESRD <5 years (77%). The average patient had ≥2 complications (81.72%) and 80.64% received 1-6 types of drugs with high levels of medication adherence (67.74%). There was an association between the number of complications and the number of drugs (p=0.026) and the association between the number of drugs and medication adherence (p=0.023) with a weak correlation (r=-0,227). This indicates that complications can affect the number of drugs consumed and indirectly also affect the medication adherence of ESRD patients.

Abstract

Salah satu tanaman yang mempunyai nilai ekonomis tinggi yaitu tanaman rosemary (Rosemarinus officinalis L.).  Tanaman ini mempunyai aroma dan rasa yang khas dan banyak mengandung senyawa yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai antioksidan, antijamur, antivirus, antibakteri, antitumor, antitrombotik, dan antidepresan. Pemanfaatan tanaman rosemary terutama ekstrak daunnya dapat dilakukan dengan terlebih dahulu melakukan pengujian terhadap ekstrak tersebut, sehingga tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah melakukan pengujian kandungan metabolit sekunder, uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH dan FRAP, serta mengaplikasikannya sebagai zat aktif dalam produk lotion. Dari hasil penelitian ini didapatkan rendemen ekstrak etanol daun rosemary sebanyak 16,87%. Hasil pengujian ekstrak tersebut mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder diantaranya alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin, dan triterpenoid, namun memberikan hasil yang negatif terhadap saponin. Uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH dan FRAP ekstrak menghasilkan nilai IC50 berturut-turut 10,68 ppm dan 51,84 ppm. Dengan demikian ekstrak etanol daun rosemary memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat dengan pengujian metode DPPH dan aktivitas yang kuat dengan metode FRAP. Produk antioksidan sediaan topikal berupa lotion dengan zat aktif dari ekstrak etanol daun rosemary menghasilkan uji organoleptis yang baik.
