Abstract

Nowadays, there are many new comers in fashion brand selling their products online. For more promotion need, they do the promotion by meeting their customers directly through a pop-up store. Pop-up store is a retail store that available in a short period of time. This design aims to put on trial of the knockdown system, the interior elements configuration, and the design of indoor shape-changing pop-up store as a promotion media of a brand. This design refers to fashion such as clothing, bags, and shoes. This design uses design thinking method by David Kelley which consists of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test, and iterate. The result shows that the knockdown uses bolt and screw system, and the pop-up store design uses modular system. By using the knockdown system, the pop-up store can be overhauled easily and fast. Besides that, through the modular system, those modules can be used many times with different final looks of the pop-up store.

Abstract

Art is an aspect that cannot be separated from human life, but the state of the arts in the city of Surabaya is so undeveloped that public interest in the arts tend to be low, especially in visual art. Seeing the state of visual art in Surabaya that is not accommodated, and thus it needs a facility that can fulfill those needs which encompasses the functions of exhibition, education, recreation, and information. In this design process the problems are how to design the interior of visual art center that not only accommodate the needs of the arts in the city of Surabaya, but also attract visitors in accordance with the lifestyle of the metropolitan youth nowadays. The method used in this design follows the diagram Zeisel with additional adjustments of the drafting process, which explains the design process that rotates from the end result that can be returned to the initial stages of design to be fixed in order to achieve the most optimal results. Six of these methods include basic eb knowledge (preliminary stages of data collection), programming research (programming phase), design and design review (transformation stage design), construction (design development stage), use + adaptation (the final design stage), and evaluation research (evaluation phase). The final design is applied in the concept of 'recreational', and accommodate the needs of visual art in Surabaya by providing facilities such as spaces for education, information, exhibitions, and recreational which are exhibition area, library, lecture theater and studio, as well as supporting spaces such as cafes and offices. Meanwhile, in order to attract visitors in accordance with the lifestyle and culture of the people, the concept of 'recreation' is applied by creating new experiences and improving the quality of those experiences.

Abstract

Hospital is one of essential aspects in the scope of people’s health. Hospital design often makes patient feeling anxiety and uncomfortable because of the hospital’s atmosphere that seems gripping and creepy. The atmosphere of hospital design impacts patient’s psychology and their physical condition. Basically, human has a tendency to stay in touch with nature that could affects their psychology and physical condition positively which is called as biophilia. This led to the use of design approach called biophilic design. Biophilic design has 14 patterns that can be used to create designs that is related with nature. The application of biophilic design in the hospitals is believed to create a healing environment. However, to apply biophilic design to hospitals, we should consider the requirements that must be met for hospital building so as not to risk the patient aand not to support the disease spreading process in the hospital. This study was conducted with the aim to describe what kind of biophilic design pattern that can be applied in hospital interior. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive. The data analysis process resulted in 2 out of 14 biophilic design patterns are not applicable to hospital interiors they are Mystery, Risk & Peril.  12 patterns that can be applied are Visual connection with nature, Non-visual connection with nature, Non-rhytmic stimuli, Thermal and airflow variability, Dynamic and diffuse lighting, Connection with natural system, Biomorphic forms and patterns, Complexity and Order, Prospect and Refuge.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative study on 22 products of students' work on "Reinvent Project” held by Ecodesign Course in Interior Design Program, Faculty of Art and Design, Petra Christian University. This study aims to determine and evaluate the variety of sources and results of campus furniture that can be generated through the recycling of institutional solid waste. Aspects of evaluation are compiled based on the aspects of good furniture with an approach from sustainable design. Assessment is done using DCBA method, based on the evaluation aspects which has been generated previously. The evaluation results conclude that the project succeeded in producing furniture with an ecodesign approach, as evidenced by the results of the average B product rating (good).

Abstract

This study is accomplished to reveal the efforts of efficiency and energy conservation in East Campus/P Building of Petra Christian University. Energy crisis is the background of this study. The high energy demand in Indonesia is not compensated by enough energy supplies. Furthermore, nearly all of energy supplies in Indonesia is produced from non-renewable resources. One of the high-rise buildings that is fitting to be studied is the East Campus/P Building of Petra Christian University. Energy efficient innovations were applied to the building to reduce the building's energy consumption. The efforts done in P Building needs to be studied and published for public references, also for the improvement of both architecture and interior design specially in high-rise building. This will contribute largely to the efforts of saving the environment and energy saving. The study is done by collecting field data, then it is analyzed using GREENSHIP standards for interior published by Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI). The result is shown in points and percentage (%) for category of Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC). Then, using the result from analysis, conclusion and recommendations can be formulated for future development of energy efficiency in P Building.

Abstract

Newspaper production produce tons of waste and keep increasing. Although the waste generated will be recycled for next newspapers production, the fiber contained in the paper will degenerate in each cycle. The problems in this research ari how to process newspaper waste into new material for interior product with upcycling principle and discovering the possibilities of interior products that can be made with newspaper waste. Solving the problem stated were the aim of this research. To reach the optimal target, this research used experimental method which used simple characteristic testing techniques and used mixed method approach between quantitative and qualitative approach. The result of this research are newspaper tube sheets, which are made from sticking the rolled newspapers until it become sheet form using  white glue solution that consist from one part water and four part white glue. The newspaper tube sheets will be applied based on 3 axis pressure point which functions are as a pedestal, structure, and system. The furniture that will be made to represent 3 functions above are stool, coffee table, and table with sliding doors. This research proved that newspaper waste can be used again using upycling principle to become new material that can be used for interior products.

Abstract

This research aims to interpret datas related to the profile study of Barata Sena who is a designer of furniture art. Wood is a fundamental material for Barata Sena's creative process. Woods that tend to be neglected by logging or woodworking fields such as hollowed, moldy, cracked, and curved woods are considered as a defect. For Barata Sena, that is not a problem. Everything born by Mother of Earth is natural things because in his creative thinking, whatever flaws of the trees, the problem is just how to integrate his intelligence into his cooperation with those tree trunks. The basic problems in this research are how the complete profile and philosophy in producing artwork furniture of Barata Sena and how the embodiment process of Barata Sena’s furniture artwork. The author uses qualitative descriptive method by doing in-depth interviews with the designer and documentation related on the field datas, such as masterpieces photos, interview result of Barata Sena with Bulan Soerbadjati, and internet source about Barata Sena. The design method used by Barata Sena is adjacent to the biomimicry design method, which inspiration comes from nature. The result of this study identifies the complete profile of Barata Sena and reveals Barata Sena's philosophy in his work and the process of it. In the process based on the main philosophy that "no wood is not good, every wood has the potential to be raised", there is the vision and spirit of design and process design method including creation and denial method which give new way of thinking for design learner in generating creation.

The target of this musical is for all ages which make the design easy to play, therefore musical interior designed with a simple form that is easy to play. To convey what it is not enough musical interior elements designed on paper only because the author uses a 1:1 prototype. The design method used is the method of experiment and research on related objects, namely the interior elements and musical instruments to get the opportunities or possibilities of any interior elements that can be combined with the function of musical instruments.
