Abstract

AbstrakTulisan ini hendak mengedepankan kajian perihal fenomena dialektis antara seni dengan masyarakatnya, yang sampai saat ini kerap menyisakan persoalan secara sosiologis. Sebagai bagian dari entitas sosial yang menyejarah, seni sebagaimana halnya dengan kebudayaan apa pun lainnya, keberadaannya senantiasa berada dalam ruang medan dan sekaligus arena produksi kulturasi, yang secara dialektis membentuk serangkaian proses habituasi kesadarannya yang tak pernah mengenal henti. Di antara sekian pluralitas tegangan pemaknaan terhadap realitas seni di masyarakat tersebut, yakni ketika seni lebih dimaknai sebagai jagad dan momen keindahan yang kemudian menghadirkan konstruksi “realisme sosial” di satu sisi, dan lebih mengedepankan momen kebenaran yang mendorong hadirnya konstruksi “realisme sosialis” di sisi yang lainnya. Dua kutub interseksi pemaknaan seni dan masyarakatnya yang dikotomis ini, sejatinya bisa didamaikan di antaranya dengan perspektif Platonian dan juga Aristotelian, yang konstruksi gagasannya cenderung mengafirmasi kesetaraan antara diktum keindahan dan kebenaran.Kata kunci: dialektika, seni, masyarakat, momen keindahan, momen kebenaran WHEN ARTISTS ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT SOCIETY: THE DIALECTICAL TENSION BETWEEN MOMENT OF BEAUTY AND TRUTHAbstractThis paper would like to discuss the dialectical phenomenon between arts and society that until today leaves sociological problems. As a part of a historical social entity, arts similar to other elements of culture is always in the midle of a cultural production area, which dialectically forms a sets of never ending habitual processes of consciousness. One of the tensions of plurality related to the understanding of art reality in the society is the fact that art is interpreted as the universe and moment of beauty which then presents the construction of ‘social realis’ on one side and puts forward the moment of truth encouraging the the appearance of ‘socialist realism’ on the other one. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi, mendeskripsi, dan mengeksplanasi: 1) Pelbagi bentuk kesalahan implementasi teknik triangulasi pada uji validitas data skripsi mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Seni Rupa FBS UNY dan 2) Faktor penyebab terjadinya kesalahan implementasi teknik triangulasi sebagaimana dimaksud. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan perspektif kritis weltanschauung yang bertujuan sebagai kritik atas realitas kekurangan tentang sesuatu hal, untuk kemudian dikonstruksi konsep baru, yakni terkait dengan implementasi teknik triangulasi dalam penelitian seni. Penelitian ini juga termasuk dalam penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dengan pendekatan hermeneutik, karena sumber datanya berupa dokumentasi skripsi mahasiswa. Instrumen utama penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri sebagai human instrument, yang dibantu dengan pedoman dokumentasi. Spasial waktu sumber data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan data skripsi dalam rentang lima tahun terakhir (2008-2013), dengan harapan mampu menghadirkan informasi data yang komprehensif.Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini ditempuh dengan  purposive sampling  (jugdmental sampling). Sementara itu, analisis datanya menggunakan teknik analisis deskritif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dideskripsikan sebagai berikut.  Pertama, ditemukan tiga pola kategori kesalahan implementasi teknik triangulasi pada skripsi mahasiswa yang berbasis: a) penghadiran pendapat ahli/pakar (expert judgment); b) ketidakmampuan membedakan jenis teknik triangulasi yang digunakan; dan c) ketidakjelasan konsep triangulasi yang digunakan.  Kedua, faktor penyebab terjadinya kesalahan implementasi triangulasi tersebut, adalah bersifat internal (diri mahasiswa) dan eksternal (dosen), yang mempunyai kekurangan wawasan dan pengetahuan tentang metodologi triangulasi dalam penelitian.

Abstract

This study is aimed at describing three main matters, namely: 1) the representation forms of tradition and local culture dimensions in Yogyakarta contemporary fine arts work representations; 2) the way tradition and local culture dimensions in Yogyakarta contemporary fine art work represented; and 3) factors influencing the strength of tradition and local culture dimensions in the Yogyakarta contemporary fine art work representations as mentioned. This study is a qualitative one with the use of heurmeneutic approach as the main approach underlying the study. The main instrument is the researcher himself, accompanied by the use documentation procedure. The data are in the forms of painting work documentations taken from various exhibition catalogues. The data are analyzed by using the descriptive qualitative technique, containing four steps, namely: data reduction, display, data anlysis, and conclusion making. The results of the study can be described as the following. 1) There is one dominant matter related to the representations of Yogyakarta contemporary fine art representation of the 90s era, that is, the presentation of tradition and Javanese local culture; 2) the deconstructive approach is used to represent the dimensions of tradition and local culture in Yogyakarta contemporary fine arts of the 90s. This approach ends in the use of art representation forms that tend to be critical, metaphorical, and parodical; 3) Factors influencing the strength of these dimensions in Yogyakarta contemporary art representations of the 90s also appear in the 2000s era, that can be divided into two, namely: first, its contact with the international art discourse influences, and second, the Postmodernism paradigm supports that has been widely developing and becoming the current topic in the culture of Indonesian society. Abstract

Study of media culture progressively find its significances for society, when this world enter a era named ‘third wave revolution’- technological revolution of communications and information.In this era, media really have come to what term by Mcluhan as the extensions of man which alter this broadness of universe become do not more than global form of village, pressed, even is easy to folded. The problem is emerging when cultural text of media in the reality is chained very tight with the dark side of advanced capitalism ideology, what frequently call just for the benefit of economic advantage nothing other than, and have to sacrifice the dimension of human values. Here finally, media stays in its ambiguous dilemma, In one side, it has potency as benediction, but other beside, often tend to more having a meaning as disaster. Nearer meaning of media phenomenon as disaster caused such as establishing of destructive ideology carried in its existences. Other which is dominant,is establishing ideology: image and manipulation, dehumanization,and necrophilia. Therefore, pursuant to some critical points - and also due to the reality and magnitude of significance of the meaning of media culture in this era - hence more commitment to the cultural study of media becoming very insist on and important to be conducted, for the possibility to take apart of discourse of outlet revitalization of media that more align to values of human.Keyword: media culture, human value

Abstract

Deconstruction of craftsmanship dimensions in aesthetic representation of Yogyakarta contemporary artThis study aimed to describe: 1) forms of deconstruction of craftmanship dimensions in the aesthetic representation of Yogyakarta’s contemporary art; and 2) factors leading to the strong deconstruction of craftmanship dimensions. The method employed was qualitative, using hermeneutics as the main approach. The researcher and a documentation guide were the main instruments in the research. The research data were in the form of artwork documents created by Yogyakarta artists, during the last ten-years or starting in 2010. The data were then analyzed using a qualitative descriptive model, incorporating the following steps: data reduction, discussion, and conclusion. The results of this study show that the form of deconstruction of craftmanship dimensions in the aesthetic representation of Yogyakarta’s contemporary art is related to the technical domain of creation and the content of the work, which is represented deconstructively. In terms of its contents, the artwork is no longer a representation of craftmanship either on its functional praxis or nobility, instead it shows a social-criticism function. The factors that cause the strong deconstruction of craftmanship dimensions in the aesthetic representation of Yogyakarta’s contemporary art include the strong influence of postmodernism accompanying the development of culture in the contemporary era, as the antithesis of modernism. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah jenis kualitatif dengan pendekatan utama hermeneutik. Instrumen utama penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri, yang dibantu dengan pedoman dokumentasi. Data penelitian berupa dokumentasi karya seni rupa Yogyakarta, yang dibuat pada periode sepuluh tahunan terakhir atau mulai tahun 2010. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model deskriptif kualitatif, dengan tahapan reduksi data, pembahasan, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk dekonstruksi dimensi kekriyaan dalam representasi estetis seni rupa kontemporer Yogyakarta berkaitan dengan domain teknis penciptaan dan isi karyanya, yang direpresentasikan secara dekonstruktif. Dari sisi isinya, hasil ciptaan tersebut tak lagi sebagai representasi kekriyaan baik dari sisi praksis fungsional maupun keadiluhungannya, melainkan lebih sebagai fungsi kritik sosial. Adapun faktor penyebab kuatnya dekonstruksi dimensi kekriyaan dalam representasi estetis seni rupa kontemporer Yogyakarta meliputi cukup kuatnya pengaruh faham postmodernisme yang mengiringi perkembangan kebudayaan di era kontemporer ini, sebagai antitesis faham modernisme. Hal ini diwujudkan dengan menolak prinsip logosentrisme-monosemik, dan menawarkan prinsip baru, yakni pluralitas serta partikularitas-polisemik dalam berkebudayaan dan berkesenian, beserta segala narasi besar yang menyertainya.Kata kunci: dekonstruksi, kekriyaan, representasi estetis, seni rupa kontemporer Yogyakarta

Abstract

Salah satu masalah dalam pengembangan profesionalisme guru selama ini adalah terkait dengan persoalan penulisan dan publikasi karya ilmiah melalui jurnal ilmiah. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk memberikan pelatihan tentang penulisan karya ilmiah terutama untuk jurnal ilmiah. Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh para guru dan siswa SMKN 1, Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta, sebanyak 25 orang. Metode yang digunakan adalah  1) pemberian pengetahuan teoretis dan praktis tentang  penulisan karya ilmiah 2) penugasan pembuatan karya tulis ilmiah, 3) penyerahan karya tulis ilmiah dan 4) publikasi karya tulis ilmiah di jurnal.  Hasil kegiatan ini adalah : Pertama, semua peserta kegiatan pelatihan ini sangat antusias, bersemangat, dan mempunyai motivasi yang tinggi mengikuti pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan penulisan karya ilmiah. Kedua, peserta kegiatan yang berhasil membuat karya ilmiah sejumlah 5 orang atau 20% dari 25 peserta. Ketiga, kualitas artikel termasuk kategori cukup baik.

Abstract

Fenomena selfie adalah salah satu bagan dari penyakit kejiwaan, yang bukan hanya berkaitan dengan domain psikologi, melainkan juga terhubung dengan pelbagai disiplin yang kompleks, termasuk juga seni. Dalam perspektif seni, fenomena selfie, menimbulkan kontradiksi yang memunculkan kompleksitas tegangan antara ekspresi dan nilai-nilai, ketika dianalisis dari perspektif aksiologi. Artikel ini menegaskan keprihatinan, betapa keberadaan selfie sering kali mengabaikan aspek etis, yang disebabkan terlalu mengedepankan motif estetis. Pentingnya memperhatikan nilai-nilai etis dalam konstruksi dan reproduksi seni, termasuk selfie, menuntut refleksi tentang tanggung jawab moral dan sosial. Kesadaran akan dampak destrukstifnya terhadap individu dan masyarakat, karenanya perlu mengglorifikasikan pentingnya kesadaran ekspresi seni, termasuk selfie, yang lebih bertanggung jawab. Dengan demikian, artikel ini menegaskan pentingnya nilai-nilai etis dan kreativitas sebagai landasan utama dalam ekspresi dan apresiasi seni, yang semakin terhubung secara digital di era kontemporer ini. Kata kunci: Selfie dan aksiologi seni, nilai-nilai etis dalam seni, tanggung jawab sosial dan moral seni Towards a comprehensive understanding of the selfie phenomenon: Exploring its contradictions within the axiological framework of art AbstractThe selfie phenomenon is a form of mental illness that not only relates to the domain of psychology, but is also connected to various complex disciplines, including art. From an artistic perspective, the selfie phenomenon creates a contradiction that creates a complex tension between expression and values, when analysed from an axiological perspective. This article highlights the concern that selfies often neglect ethical aspects due to the overemphasis on aesthetic motives. The importance of ethical values in the construction and reproduction of art, including selfies, demands reflection on moral and social responsibility. Awareness of its destructive impact on individuals and society, therefore, needs to glamorise the importance of a more responsible consciousness of artistic expression, including selfies. As such, this article emphasises the importance of ethical values and creativity as key cornerstones in the expression and appreciation of art, which is increasingly digitally connected in this contemporary era. Keywords: Selfie and axiology of art, ethical values in art, social and moral responsibility of art

Abstract

The multicultural paradigm has become a frequent topic of discussion as its key values con-cerningthe spirit of respecting differences. The fact that differences are commonly considered a threat in Modernistphilosophy has led particularity space becoming increasingly negated. In an Indonesian context,multiculturalism has a long historical basis, one tied inexorably with the nation’s nature as an absoluteconstructed from plural complexity. Hence, multiculturalism should be involved in every cultural activity,at any time and in any context, including the Fine Arts. Within this discipline, multiculturalism hasbeen the main concern, considering that the Fine Arts deal with creativity and aesthetic terminologieswhich cannot be separated from the discussion of differences. What then becomes the main concern is thefact that this multicultural aspect has unconsciously become a quo-vadis reality in other cultural mainstreams.

Abstract

This article examines the role of traditional Khakot dance in Lampung as a discourse of political technology that influences the body to make individuals obedient to the values and social cultural norms of Lampung. This research focused on three issues. First, the form of representation of the body that complies with the social values and norms of Lampung culture in Khakot dance. Second, the process of forming a body that abides by the social values and norms of Lampung culture in Khakot dance. Third, identifying factors that influence individual compliance with sociocultural values and norms in the context of Khakot dance. This study used a critical discourse analysis paradigm and utilized primary and secondary data. Analysis of all obtained data was carried out textually and contextually using Michel Foucault's body discipline theory which is presented in a qualitative descriptive form. The results showed that the representation of the body that obeys the social values and norms of Lampung culture is reflected in aspects of Khakot dance performances, including the selection of costume forms and choreographic forms such as movement and floor pattern composition. The process of forming the body to be obedient to the social values and norms of Lampung culture in the context of Khakot dance involves formal and non-formal education, as well as through sociocultural activities in Lampung society. Factors that influence individual compliance are social control, normalization, and panopticon.
