Abstract

Performing prayers is an obligation for Muslims wherever they are. The time and direction of the Qibla where they are located on the surface of the earth can certainly be observed and determined normally using both projections and solar shadows. But an obstacle occurs when a Muslim will pray while he is in outer space near the earth such as on the international space station, or other space stations that exist today or in the future, so studies are needed to get a solution to this condition. Ijtihad ulama expressed several opinions such as using a benchmark time from the last location where the Muslim astronaut departed or using the prayer schedule used in Mecca. While facing the Qibla direction, there are four optional references such as facing the Kaaba on Earth in the relative movement of the spacecraft, following the projection of the Kaaba, facing towards the Earth, and facing in all directions based on belief.

Abstract

This study examines the postponement of marriages at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in Koto Tangah District during the COVID-19 pandemic as an effort to address health and social challenges, focusing on the perspective of Islamic law. The government's social restrictions led many couples to postpone or cancel their weddings, especially during the large-scale social restrictions period. This research aims to understand marriage postponement as a strategy to navigate pandemic challenges from an Islamic law perspective in Koto Tangah District, Padang City, and its impact on couples and society. The method used is field research with a descriptive qualitative approach. The findings show that marriage postponement was effectively carried out through schedule coordination with couples despite pressure from the brides and grooms. Health protocols were the primary reason for the delay, and KUA strictly limited the number of weddings if safety standards were not met. The postponements had significant psychological and economic effects on the couples, while society had mixed responses to the policy. KUA faced challenges in implementing marriage delays, especially regarding facilities and communication with engaged couples

Abstract

Germany's cultural and economic diversity is enhanced by the contributions of Turkish immigrants and Muslim minorities, whose legacy enriches the country. However, social exclusion and unfavorable preconceptions impact some of these groups, which can hurt their well-being and quality of life. This article addresses the dynamics of Muslim minorities and Turkish immigrants in Germany, emphasizing the social developments, historical trajectory, and difficulties these groups encounter in German society. It focuses on minority rights, social integration, and acceptance. This article employs a qualitative descriptive technique, interpreting qualitative data in-depth to comprehend and explain social phenomena or human behavior. Data is gathered by analyzing pertinent materials and subsequently interpreted thematically in light of the study environment. This article's conclusions and discussions are restricted to the impact of Turkish immigration on the Muslim community while considering a range of social, cultural, political, and economic facets of German life. Karl Marx's conflict theory holds that these difficulties reflect underlying power dynamics and class struggles, in which the dominant class keeps control over resources, cultural norms, and political authority, resulting in systemic conflicts and inequality. In addition to initiatives to support equality and inclusion, addressing these concerns calls for a greater comprehension of the structural dynamics at play.

Abstract

This paper examines some fundamentals of the Quranic messages and elucidates their timeless nature in challenging relativism through the lens of Islamic perspectives. The issues of relativism have been spreading in all elements of social and moral construction. Moreover, the authenticity and eternity of the Quran have been questioned. Consequently, the truth of messages in the Quran also has been doubted. In other words, without exception, all ingredients in the Qur’an become nothing. In fact, people become confused with values and standards of morals, truth, religion, etc, in their daily lives. Indeed, the Quran itself has declared this book a guide of life for human beings, which is rich in permanent values and standards of morals, truth, religion, etc., but these things are unbounded by time and place. It means that the messages of the Quran are timeless in nature. Therefore, this paper investigates some problems above by presenting some verses of the Quran as a permanent solution for relativism issues.
