Abstract

Perkembangan informasi saat ini semakin meningkat khususnya dalam hal informasi kesehatan. Keberadaan internet, sepaket dengan kebudayaan yang terbangun di dalam ruang publik baru membuat masyarakat sulit membedakan informasi faktual dan hoax. Adapun salah satu informasi kesehatan saat ini adalah informasi mengenai pengobatan-pengobatan alternative berbasis islami. Salah satu jenis pengobatan tradisional berbasis islami yang diminati oleh masyarakat saat ini adalah pengobatan thibbun nabawi. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi komunikasi kesehatan adalah dengan cara memberikan informasi mengenai cara pengobatan alternative berbasis islami kepada masyarakat melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan memberikan contoh-contoh kontemporer dan pemaparan terkait risiko-risiko dari ketersebaran hoax khususnya dalam hal informasi komunikasi kesehatan. Kegiatan ini dimaksudkan merupakan upaya membangun model edukasi dan literasi komunikasi kesehatan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi generasi muda dalam mengenali dan merespon hoax khususnya dalam hal komunikasi kesehatan. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk terbentuknya wawasan masyarakat dengan pemilihan pengobatan alternative yang tepat dan terpercaya dan untuk mengetahui dan memahami pentingnya factor-faktor apa saja yang dapat menjadi acuan dalam memilih pengobatan alternatif. Hasil dan pembahasan yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah peserta terlihat sangat antusias dan mendapat pemahaman baru mengenai informasi seputar pengobatan alternative sehat serta masyarakat telah mengetahui jenis-jenis pengobatan dan tempat pengobatan alternative sehat yang dapat dipercaya dan tidak ada motif  penipuan. Simpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah wawasan masyarakat akan adanya hoax dalam mencari informasi pengobatan alternative sudah terbentuk dengan baik, hal ini dilihat dari antusias para peserta mendapatkan pengetahuan dan informasi mengenai literasi informasi antara berita hoax dan berita secara resmi terutama dalam hal informasi di bidang kesehatan, mendapat pengetahuan mengenai macam-macam pengobatan alternative sehat.

Abstract

Massive innovations have always influenced human civilization. Technological development is considered one of them. Today, we can see the massive creation of human ideas and the increasing development of technology that can support daily human activities more efficiently and effectively. The presence of technology in education requires students to be able to speak in virtual public spaces, both to meet the demands of school assignments and interact with other people. It required students to improve the quality of education technology based. Therefore, the presence of the Telkom University lecturer team aims to provide digital literacy in the digital world, theory, and practice, to students at SMK Cendekia. The ability to have digital knowledge is needed by students, especially vocational students, who later, after graduating from school, might have to go directly to the world of work. Some take part in the selection to enter college. The ability of education digital bases will help students control the unique combination of skills, experience, and personality in the world to see outside of the standard practices. It creates an opportunity to follow the trends of worldwide practices. Supporting school children's personal branding is important to become a superior generation. The results of the implementation of this activity include (1) personal branding, (2) Public speaking, and (3) Motivation.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has limited offline activities, especially the PPDB committees of SMK Telkom 1 Medan, in achieving the target number of student bodies. Strategies for using digital technology are required to assist the PPDB committees in meeting educational targets. Hence, the PKM program initiated by the synergy of lecturers from the Faculty of Communication and Business, Telkom University, which is focused on understanding digital marketing, has been conducted in early to mid-2022 to help the PPDB committees in solving their problems. Various pieces of training to provide understanding related to concepts derived from digital marketing, one of them is digital branding, positioning, and differentiation of educational institutions training, have been given to participants online. This training was conducted in two stages. There were the delivery of material by the lecturers and a one by one coaching conducted in two-way communication, which aims to guide the participants in exploring their problems and finding effective solutions. The PKM program, which was evaluated using a survey, showed that it had answered the needs of the participants significantly in dealing with the problems they faced to increase the number of new students.

Abstract

Information and communication technology advancement has made information dissemination rapid and massive. In addition, technology facilitates the large spread of hoax news which has sparked various kinds of riots in society. Yet, most people are prone to become exposed to hoax news because they tend to take information for granted from the internet without a critical process. This attitude drives them to any hazardous circumstances because hoax news has affected their perception of presuming phenomena in societies. Thus, a series of programs have been conducted, including the Community Service Program (PKM) by lecturers of the Communication Science Studies Program, at Telkom University, which was specifically carried out by providing training to Aliran Kebatinan Perjalanan's adherence in Bandung to verify hoax news and produce digital media positive contents. This training was conducted in two stages, through materials delivered by appointed presenters and two-way one-by-one coaching that is aimed to develop knowledge and solve problems without patronizing. The program was evaluated using a feedback survey. The result showed that the training had significantly answered the participants' needs in dealing with hoax news and producing digital media content responsibly.

Abstract

Kenyataannya di Indonesia seringkali pemilu tidak dimanfaatkan sebaik mungkin, peran penyebaran informasi juga dapat mempengaruhi partisipasi masyarakat untuk ikut menggunakan hak pilihnya. Komunikasi politik, Literasi politik dan media massa menjadi acuan teori untuk mendalami kegiatan literasi media berbasis media menjadi sebuah jembatan dalam pelaksanaan literasi plotik berbasis media. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif studi kasus yang nantinya akan menghasilkan pemahaman tentang suatu program yang dilaksanakan oleh pemerintah dan sejauh mana keikutsertaan masyarakat dalam program tersebut. Program yang diteliti bernama Desa Peduli Pemilu dan Pemilihan yang dilaksanakan KPU Kota Surabaya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk memahami bagaimana proses komunikasi yang dilakukan oleh KPU Kota Surabaya dalam menyampaikan program Desa Peduli Pemilu dan Pemilihan. Hasil penelitian ini mengatakan bahwa program kerja DP3 berjalan cukup baik, program ini merupakan inovasi KPU RI untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya mengikuti pemilihan umum. Masyarakat nantinya akan dituntut untuk lebih peduli pada informasi yang disebarkan secara digital. Hal ini guna memaksimalkan pemilu serentak yang dilakukan pada tahun 2024.

Abstract

The tremendous number of internet usage in Indonesia does not only present positive impacts but also negative implications, particularly for women. Many of them experience difficulties related to digital security, not only for themselves but also for their children. Therefore, a digital literacy program targeting housewives, particularly members of the HEPI Bandung community, is critical. This program was conducted on 21 June 2023 by focusing on literacy to empower the participants to shop online wisely and control children in accessing digital media products effectively. This program has two stages. Number one is knowledge sharing aims at awareness improvements and a two-way sharing session to build knowledge and appropriate solutions. The program evaluation showed that literacy activities witnessed benefits for the participants to be wiser in using the internet. Hopefully, this program can be conducted sustainably in the future program.

Abstract

New media usage, particularly network-based media using mobile platforms, has become a big issue in the community. Various issues arise related to the presence of information technology and its intersection with daily activities and other social environments. There has yet to be a corresponding growth in people's awareness of online ethics in Indonesia with the surge in internet use. Housewives, in particular, frequently do sharenting and oversharing on the internet. Awareness of the risks associated with online flaming and cyberbullying is also essential. Thus, it is crucial to successfully promote digital literacy among housewives in the HEPI Bandung community to raise awareness of online ethics. It is also critical to comprehend the technical facets of branding for both personal and professional purposes. This program seeks to educate participants about digital literacy and digital content creation workshops to assist them in avoiding adverse outcomes down the road, particularly for housewives. This activity had two phases: material distribution (including a workshop) and sharing sessions. Increasing the participants' knowledge is the purpose of the content delivery. The two-way sharing session aims to broaden participants' knowledge and answer their problems appropriately. Evaluate the activities by sending out feedback surveys. The evaluation's conclusions show how successfully literacy-related activities have addressed participants' needs. Increasing digital literacy is a positive thing, mainly as we use digital media to become a better-informed society. Furthermore, the participants hope that such literacy exercises continue in parallel to evaluate and improve the understanding that has been established collectively.

Abstract

Internet meme merupakan sebuah fenomena yang terjadi pada kehidupan sosial masyarakat yang berkembang karena beradaptasi dengan perkembangan teknologi internet. Sebuah internet meme memiliki daya difusi tinggi yang disebabkan oleh aspek viralitas yang terdapat dalam sebuah meme. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aspek viralitas pada meme Will Smith dan Chris Rock melalui unggahan di Instagram Drama Telyu yang dipaparkan secara narasi deskriptif. Penelitian akan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang akan mengacu para teori Malcolm Gladwell terkait tentang Tipping Point atau sebuah fenomena yang terjadi secara cepat dan penyebaran yang cukup luas dan terdapat tiga faktor utama yakni The Law of Few, The Stickiness Factor, dan The Power of  Context. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa viralitas disebabkan oleh seorang mahasiswa Telkom University yang memproduksi sebuah meme dengan idenya tersendiri lalu dibagikan melalui media sosial Instagram Drama Telyu dengan memanfaatkan kekerasan Will Smith dalam gambar sebagai ketegasan pesan dengan memanfaatkan konteks kondisi yang menjadi keresahannya sebagai mahasiswa Telkom University. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa faktor viralitas meme Will Smith dan Chris Rock di Instagram Drama Telyu mengungkapkan seorang mahasiswa Telkom University yang membentuk sebuah meme kreasinya sendiri dan selaras dengan teori The Tipping Point Malcolm Gladwell yang menjelaskan sebuah fenomena dapat memiliki dampak yang besar dan difusi yang tinggi .

Abstract

Background: Despite the rise of the gig economy, the mental health of Indonesia’s gig workers has received little attention. To cope with work-related stress and a limited interaction between drivers and app firms, many ride-hailing drivers have formed shared experience-based communities, such as Indriver Bandung Bersatu (IBB). Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the perspectives and motives of five drivers in a natural setting, with an emphasis on their lived experiences and interpretations of stress coping mechanisms. Method: To better understand how drivers deal with mental health difficulties at work, a qualitative phenomenological approach was applied. From November to December 2022, data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations. Triangulation and member checking confirmed data validity. Result: Although ride-hailing employment have several advantages, drivers are stressed because of monopolistic policies, fluctuating pay, negative customer behavior, and rapid system modifications. To cope, people rely on personal strength and mutual support from a community that shares experiences and alleviates emotional pressures. Conclusion: Capitalist structures, aided by uneven and unfriendly policies, disadvantaged drivers. Mutual-aid communities, on the other hand, enable them to support one another and work together to find common answers. Implications: Facing shared workplace issues together, sharing experiences, and developing peer-based support all promote motivation and self-determination, allowing drivers to become more resilient.
