Abstract

This research aims to study and identify the extent of damage to buildings in Pontianak City Elementary School caused by destructive factors of the building, studying and identifying the types of organisms that destroy wood and look for a solution in accordance with the method of building maintenance. The study was conducted in 3 elementary school in each the district, namely Pontianak Kota, Pontianak Timur, Pontianak Barat, Pontianak Utara, Pontianak Selatan, and Pontianak Tenggara. Total sample was 18 elementary school. The research method used forensic engineering. The results showed that the level of damage occurs due to the lack of maintenance of buildings and errors in the use of construction materials. Large part of damage in Elementary School building was caused due to the lack maintenance of the building and by the use of raw materials that do not comply with the standard. The damaged in building mostly by wood destroying organisms such as termites, fungi, insect borers, and other insect pests. Treatments and maintenance of building school  in the city of Pontianak is the determinant of the development activities and the prevention of damage to the building which will reduce the level of damage. The wood destroying organism need to control to prevent the huge damage. Maintenance of building is important, especially in the parts of construction of components which is susceptible to damage by wood organism . Abstract

Rubber plantation in the forest area managed by local people is one of their income source. They depend a lot on these rubber trees for their life. The rubber plant is one of the important commodity and has a very large role in the economy sector. Most of the people transmigration of ressetlement unit 1 in Pangmilang Village Singkawang Selatan Subdistrict West Borneo have rubber plantation in forest area. They work as rubber tappers and farmers. The research purpose is to know the income level and factors that influence income level of farmers from rubber in forest plantation area. These factors are : land area (X1), the quantity of trees tapped (X2), the man power of working time (X3), as well as the length of time worked as rubber farmers (X4). The research method used survey technique with descriptive analysis. The results showed that the rubber revenue obtained Rp 1.072.980,--/month. The contribution of this rubber is 39,83% (Rp 1.072.980,--) from total revenue of Rp 2.694.113,--. Four variables have significant effect on the income to the value in which Fhit = 3,45 > F(0,05;4-1)= 2,579 on the level analysis of 95%. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the effectiveness of the mixture of eucalyptus leaf extract 0,01%, degraded pine wood, official waste paper, and cardboard waste as bioattractant against subterranean termites Coptotermes curvignathus and to know the effectiveness composition of the bait as a bioattractant against subterranean termites Coptotermes curvignathus. The examination was done with 2 methods, no choice test and multiple choice test. The observation including weight loss of test sample and termite mortality. Results showed that type of bait has significant different to weight loss in both no choice test and multiple choice. The highest value of weight loss in no choice test was noted at the composition of degraded pine wood + official waste paper + cardboard waste + eucalyptus leaf extract 0,01%, with a value of 10,7685% and the lowest value of weight loss was noted at the composition of official waste paper, with a value of 1,3642%. The highest value of weight loss in multiple choice test was recorded at composition of degraded pine wood + official waste paper + cardboard waste + eucalyptus leaf extract 0,01%, with value of 9,3863% and the lowest value of  weight loss was at with composition of official waste paper + cardboard waste, with value of 0,8783%. Types of bait are also significantly different to termite mortality. The highest value of termite mortality was noted at sample with composition of degraded pine wood + official waste paper + cardboard waste + eucalyptus leaf extract 0,01%, with value of 51,3333% and the lowest termite mortality was at sample with composition of degraded pine wood + official waste paper + cardboard waste, with value of 22%. Bait formulation of degraded pine wood + official waste paper + cardboard waste + eucalyptus leaf extract 0,01% effective as bioattractant against Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren.Keywords: Baiting method, Bioattractant, Coptotermes curvignathus, Maleuca leucadendra, Pinus merkusii.

Abstract

The society around the forest generally depends on the forest to extract their daily needs by taking the result of forest like timber and non-timber products for sale. However, since 2006 the illegal logging activity has been curbed and gave an impact to the communities livelihoods around the forest which caused the decline in their income. The objective of the research is to find out the alternative livelihoods after the controlling of the illegal logging, to determine the size of the income of the people before and after the controlling of illegal logging is executed, and to see the factors that is expectedly has an influence on the people's income. This research was conducted using a descriptive survey method with interview techniques. The result of the research showed that the occupations of the people before the controlling of illegal logging are tree feller/penebang, rafting agen/pengengkut, and log collector agent/pengepul. After the controlling, their changes their occupation as rice farmers,rubber farmers, fisherman, traders and rattan collectors. The peoples income before the controlling of illegal logging are; as much as 7 respondents have the lowest-income, that is less then Rp. 11.912.661, as much as 51 respondents have middle-income between Rp. 11.912.661-Rp. 21.284.645, and as much as 2 respondents have the higher-income, that is more than Rp. 21.284.645. While the incomes of the former of illegal loggers are as many as 9 respondents has high-income, > Rp. 26,337,189, -/year. And as many as 45 respondents have middle-income between Rp. 7.488.064, - Rp. 26.337.189, -/year. Then as many as six respondents have the lowes-income, that is below Rp. 7488064, -/year. Based on Chi-Square statisticsThere was no relationship between the level of income with the attitudes, people perceptions about the illegal logging activities. Abstract

Knowledge of the nature and chemical composition of a type of wood makes the utilization of such wood as industrial cultivators such as pulp and paper, rayon, fiberboard, cement board, wood durability and others can be considered. A type of wood can be recommended as a raw material, it is necessary to introduce the wood in order that the processing, utilization, and treatment can be appropriate and efficient. The aim of this research is to know the chemical variation of sengon wood (Albizia falcataria (L.) Fosberg) based on height of stem (base, middle, and tip) which include extractive, holocellulose, alpha cellulose, and lignin.The chemical research of Albizia falcataria (L.) Fosberg wood was done by sampling of Ambawang River area, Kubu Raya District. The test was conducted in the laboratory of Forest Product Technology Faculty of Forestry, Tanjungpura University, Pontianak using ASTM standard. The purpose of this research is to know chemical component of Albizia falcataria (L.) Fosberg wood. Wood chemical components observed include percentage of moisture content, holocellulose, cellulose, lignin, and extractive (alcohol benzene) at the height position of the stem. The results showed that the moisture content of this wood is 13.5389 %, holocellulose 77.84616 % Of Alpha cellulose 64.29624 % (including high category), hemicellulose 13.54992 %, lignin 21.10961% (including moderate percentage), and extractive substances (alcohol benzene) are 3.226568 % (including moderate percentage).Keywords: Albizia falcataria (L.) Abstract

Based on the identification result of research conducted in the area of ​​Forest City Sanggau found 3 types, namely Bamboo Buluh (Schizostachyum brahycladum Kurz, Bamboo Munti (Schizostachyum sp), and Betung Bamboo (Dendrocalamus asper (Schult) Becker ex. Heyne). Based on the analysis of identification observation of the entire plot there is a type of bamboo that has the highest INP. The dominant type of bamboo is a type of bamboo buluh with INP = 122.616%, dominance index value of 0.526 indicates that the pattern of dominance is spreading not concentrated on one type only; Diversity Index Type (H') that is equal to 0.31654 classified into low because the value of H' <1; the value of Wealth Index Type (d) in all kinds of bamboo that is equal to 2.57966 allegedly a growing factor that does not support to grow and thrive well for individuals of each species; Evenness index type (e) of 0.66344 indicates that the level of evenness of bamboo in Forest City area Sanggau uneven; Morisita index (Id) of 33.7058 whole bamboo species showed a tendency deployment groups. And when viewed from the calculation of Truth Chi-square test results obtained by 2186.564 This indicates that the Chi-square test was significantly different meaning deployment groups. Abstract

West Kalimantan is one of the centers of biodiversity. It’s has a wealth of flora are very much and most potential as an ornamental plant. Yayasan Dian Tama in Toho Ilir very support educational activities, research and ecotourism. This study aims to determine the potential down and epiphytes plant species as ornamental plants are contained in secondary forest area PPTAT Yayasan Dian Tama Toho Ilir. The research time is two week effectively in the field from September 1 until 2014 September 14. This research is using a single plot with a plot size of 20m x 50m (0.1 Ha), as many as eight plots and the total number of observations made plot is 0.8 hectares. The results found that 15 plant species very potential as an ornamental plant, namely: Aglaonema crispum, Aglaonema nitidum, Aglaonema simplex, Asplenium nidus, Bauhinia sp., Bulboppylum sp., Chrysalidocarpus sp., Cordyline fruticosa, Drynaria sparsisora, Globba sp., Hemamolena sp., Lygodium circinnatum, Lygodium scandens, Molineria latifoliadan Nephrolepis sp. From the 15 species of cover coops and epiphytes as a ornamental plant, that are Nephrolepis sp. with a density 68.74 clumps / ha, Aglaonema nitidum with a density of 47.5 clumps / ha and Hemamolena sp. with a density of 42.5 clumps / ha. As for the highest frequency is the type of Aglaonema nitidum, Aglaonema simplex and chrysalidocarpus sp. each with a value of F = 0.5. Keywords : Ornamental plant, Epiphytes, potential, research.
