Abstract

Tulisan ini mendiskusikan akan pentingnya upaya mereformasi pendidikan Islam dengan menampilkan wajah Islam toleran dapat dijelaskan dari sudut pandang filsafat perenialisme, esensialisme dan progresifisme. Dalam pandangan perenialisme kurikulum adalah "construct" yang dibangun untuk mentransfer apa yang sudah terjadi di masa lalu kepada generasi berikutnya untuk dilestarikan, diteruskan atau dikembangkan. Sementara dalam prespektif filsafat progresivisme, posisi kurikulum adalah untuk membangun kehidupan masa depan dimana kehidupan masa lalu, masa sekarang, dan berbagai rencana pengembangan dan pembangunan bangsa dijadikan dasar untuk mengembangkan kehidupan masa depan. Dari sinilah sangat memungkinkan untuk mengajarkan prinsip –prinsip ajaran Islam yang humanis, demokratis dan berkeadilan kepada peserta didik. Sebuah prinsip-prinsip ajaran Islam yang sangat relevan untuk memasuki masa depan dunia yang ditandai dengan adanya keanekaragaman budaya dan agama

Abstract

Pesantren as a unique of Indonesian Islamic  education institution has a dynamic in its development. Although modernization and its implication has been influenced pesantren’s existence, it can survive until noweday. One of factors support pesantren is figure of kiai as a strong leader with his patronage system. This is a relation pattern which has been rooted in pesantren tradition. The system has widely networks and disseminated by kiai not only in the pesantren, but also out of it. Patron-client between santri and kiai legitimize the authority and charisma of kiai. It also make him easy to influence and ask community to participate in buillding pesantren. Last but not least, the community it self have a good awareness and attitude (sami’na wa atha’na) in foolowing and supporting every single of kiai’s policy for advance of pesantren.

Abstract

This article expects the readers to witness the condition of religious harmony in the village of Kutuk in Undaan, Kudus, Central Java. The people who live in the village share various religious backgrounds, but they live side by side in harmony. This condition is achieved as the results of the education carried out by the Kutuk people since ancient times that has passed down through generations. Then, what kind of education pattern is being developed by the community to accompany every Muslim to be a tolerant figure? This research question is answered through a qualitative research with a case study approach that uses non-measurement techniques in data collection processes, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. This study confirms that Kutuk village is a miniature of tolerant village in Kudus district. This village has a lifelong pattern of tolerance education, children with the education in their families, youth with peer education in youth organizations and adults with their educational councils. The methods that were utilized in the process of transmitting the tolerance values are education bil hal (education with good behavior and good examples), education bil maqol (education via oral tradition), and education bil du'a (education with a prayer). These findings provide some options to the community about applicable steps to empower families and communities in assisting Muslims to be tolerant. It is the evidence in the village that amaliyah of nahdliyyin such as yasinan, tahlilan, and berjanjenan have contributed signifi cantly to educate Muslim to be socially and theologically pious adherents of Islam.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan inklusivitas Pesantern Tebuireng dalam menatap globalisasi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah teknik observasi, partisipasi, interview dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis datanya adalah teknik analisis domain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Pesantren sebagai sebuah lembaga tertua di Indonesia sesungguhnya memiliki karakter unik dan khas yang berbeda dengan lembaga pendidikan agama Islam. Kelenturan sikap dan ekspresi keagamaan yang cenderung inklusif, sering ditunjukkan oleh komunitas pesantren. Hal ini disebabkan karena pada wataknya pesantren memiliki seperangkat aturan, nilai, dan norma yang membudaya dan bersumber pada alquran dan hadistdi samping bersumber pada kesepakatan para ulama. Begitu juga Pesantren Tebuireng, sebagai salah satu pesantren terkemuka di Indonesia terkenal sangat inklusif, senantiasa berusaha menjawab tuntutan-tuntutan globalisasi dengan senantiasa berpegang pada “tradisionalisme” dan kearifan lokal peninggalan Mbah Hasyim Asy’ari dan para leluhurnya. Terbukti dengan paradigma seperti ini, Tebuireng mampu berselayar di tengah tantangan modernitas tanpa harus tercerabut akar-akar kebudayaanya sendiri. Hal ini dapat dijadikan sebagai modal bagi pesantren dalam mendakwahkan prinsip-prinsip ajaran Islam kepada masyarakat tanpa mengalami benturan dan konflik dengan agama lain maupun kepercayaan lokal di Indonesia.

Abstract

This study sheds light on the identity of Islamic education in Indonesia and Singapore to fight against radicalism. This study focuses on comparing Indonesia and Singapore in awakening multicultural consciousness, particularly on philosophical and practical religious education. The crisis of ideology faced by Muslim society in the world has an impact on the genesis of religious movements that legitimate violence and terrorism. This study is based on the sociological perspective and aimed at knowing the philosophical and practical construction of Islamic education in Indonesia and Singapore. The focus of this study is on preventive and persuasive deradicalization. Religious education institutions in both countries have multi principles and practices of education, which is implemented particularly in preventing Islamic ideology that teaches violent values and terrorism. Anticipating the development of understanding radicalism, in both countries, Islamic education has formulated policies that are accommodating with universal values and cosmopolitanism of Islamic civilization. Such efforts are implemented by pesantren and madrasah in Indonesia and Singapore to build harmony among fellow human beings and transmit the character of egalitarian, democratic, humanist, inclusive, and civilized.

Abstract

This study aims to find a new model in the development of Islamic Boarding Schools or well known as pesantren. By adopting a business system, pesantren can be developed by a franchise model. The data collection methods used in this study were interviews, observation, and documentation. From the data obtained, the results indicated a new model in the development of pesantren, namely the franchise model. The franchise model in pesantren can be perceived in three points. Firstly, the existence of the central pesantren as the control holder of branch pesantren. Secondly, the presence of royalties paid by the branch pesantren to the central pesantren in exchange for the given learning system. The royalty is not material but in the form of tahfidz students who have good character. It is in line with the purpose of the Tahfidz Daarul Qur’an Islamic Boarding School to print thousands of memorizers of the Qur’an in the archipelago. Thirdly, the existence of a standard learning system that can be adopted and followed by the branch pesantren.

Abstract

The emergence of a number of religious sects which culminated in violence, especially in Indonesia sometimes dragging the name of the salaf pesantren, is actually a phenomenon that is motivated by a number of determinant factors, such as economic factors, politics and ideology. For the first and second factor has been widely discussed by experts/ researchers, while the ideological factor often forgotten by many people. Whereas the issue of ideologythat believed by each religious groups usually determine their direction and purpose. In fact, sometimes leads to an attitude/decision how to look to other groups. The streams of radical ideology has encourages the hostility with the others. This phenomenon of course reversed with the mainstream ideology of pesantren salaf, one of which is a Pesantren Edimancoro Salatiga. as the result of research revealed that the idiology of this pesantren salaf, always talking mutualrespect and love for fellow human beings, voice for justice, liberation and against any anarchism is an enemy of every religion.

Abstract

This article will explain about the contemporary developments in the pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), especially its role in maintaining the tradition and stem infiltration of religious radicalism at the pesantren. The steps that can be used by pesantren is by teaching inclusive faith and the reformulation of multicultural curriculum for the students (santri). All this, with consideration for each movement by fundamentalists and extremists who cast a "jihad" to fight against those who disagree actually do not fit with the character and cultural of the pesantren. Is not the pesantren has always showed his attitude that it is always accommodating and understanding of diversity?

Abstract

The development of the era that resulted in to an era of disruption encourages changes in educational activities. It triggers new problems in educational ethics, including the ethics of teachers and students. The ethical constructions of teachers and students that have been formulated by scholars and education experts are by the conditions of their time. One of the scholars who laid the foundations for teachers and students' ethics was Zainuddin bin Nuruddin 'Ali bin Ahmad Al-'Amili Al-Juba'i or also known as Al-'Amili. This study aims to interpret the actualization of the ethics of teachers and students of Al-'Amili in the context of the era of disruption. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach, namely the library research method with the primary data source of the book Munyah al-Murīd fī Adab al-Mufīd wa al-Mustafīd by Al-'Amili. The analysis was performed using Content Analysis techniques. This study found that teacher and student ethics can apply in general, namely that teachers and students have their own ethics in the educational process. The thought of Al-'Amili is universal so that it can be actualized in the present. In an era of disruption where values are uprooted and replaced by new values, the role of ethics becomes important to underlie teachers' and students' activities in learning. One of them is the ethical model of the relationship between teacher and student as an educational relationship that is Sufistic by highlighting the characteristics of holiness in learning.
