Abstract

This study aims to determine the economic, demographic, and social characteristics that are determinants of poverty, and analyze how the level of tendency (probability) in shaping poverty in East Java. Using a quantitative approach, this research relies on a logistical model (logit). The logit model aims to find the probability of an event occurring, in this case the probability of a household heading into poverty or not. The result is that education of household heads, gender of household heads, household size, household head work sector, access to KUR, and access to poor health insurance have a tendency to be determinants for household heading to poverty status. Educational variables, gender of the head of household, and access to KUR from this paper empirically show a tendency to reduce the probability of households to poor. Meanwhile increasing household size, types of employment in the agricultural sector, and the ownership of poor health insurance tend to increase theprobability of households heading into poverty status.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused residents of RT 01 / RW 01, Kelurahan Dukuh Pakis, Surabaya to face problems in the form of a decrease in residents' income and a potential shortage of foodstuffs due to the implementation of the lockdown policy (PSBB). The solution offered to mitigate this problem is to conduct training on the introduction and use of wild plants for food, as well as online assistance with botanists in developing wild food plant gardens on unused land located in the middle of residential areas. Online assistance is carried out using WhatsApp in residents’ groups. Apart from online assistance through WhatsApp, residents are also provided with modules in PDF format and an online learning video. This community development program is expected to give the residents of RT 01 / RW 01 Kelurahan Dukuh Pakis, Surabaya an insight into the benefits of wild plants as an alternative food source; ability to manage alternative plant cultivation independently or collectively; and realizing food self-sufficiency with various types of wild plants in anticipation of a food crisis due to the Corona virus. There are 4 (four) outputs from this program: 1) publication in an ISSN journal; 2) publication in print / electronic mass media; 3) online learning videos on the use of wild plants; and 4) availability of beneficial wild plant gardens as alternative food sources.

Tourism productivity has a role in driving economic growth, creating jobs, increasing people's income, and building tourism infrastructure. Measurement of tourism productivity is important because it provides the information needed to measure the performance of the tourism sector, plan sustainable development, identify growth opportunities and make smart investment decisions. The type of approach used is a descriptive qualitative approach, namely an approach that uses more systematic analysis based on assumptions and critical thinking. This approach is used to answer the research objective, namely to determine tourism productivity in a country. The type of data used is secondary data obtained from several relevant and valid scientific journals regarding tourism productivity that have been published previously. Not only scientific journals, this research also uses government publication data. The results of the research discussion aim to make readers understand and know tourism productivity in several countries and provide relevant information for decision makers in local governments and the tourism industry.
