Abstract

The purpose of this study was to study the effect of bagasse compost on the growth and yield of red chili (Capsicum annum L.), and to obtain a dose of bagasse compost that could provide the best growth and yield of red chili. This research was conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University, Mendalo Indah Village, Outer Jambi District, Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province. The study was carried out from April to August 2020. The design used was a Randomized Block Design (RAK) consisting of 5 treatment levels, namely: without bagasse compost (p0), 200 g bagasse compost (p1), 300 g (p2) , 400 g (p4), and 500 (p5). The treatment was repeated 5 times, so there were 25 experimental units. Each experiment contained 5 polybags where each polybag contained one plant and 3 as sample plants. From the results of the study, it was found that giving a dose of 500 g of bagasse compost was the best dose that affected the number of branches, number of fruit per plant, and fruit weight per plant.

Abstract

The research took place from June-October 2020 at the rice production centersin Tanjung Jabung Barat and Tanjung Jabung Timur regency Jambi province. The resistance test of Nilaparvata lugens to the active ingredients of insecticide was carried out at the Pesticide and Weed Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University. This study aimed to determine the resistance level of N. lugens of Rawa Medang and Sri Agung population (Batang Asam district, Tanjung Jabung Barat regency), and Parit Culum II and Teluk Dawan population (Muara Sabak district, Tanjung Jabung Timur regency) to the insecticides used. The active ingredients of insecticide tested were abamektin and dimehipo (N. lugens of Rawa Medang and Sri Agung population), and BPMC and fipronil (N. lugens of Parit Culum II and Teluk Dawan population). Mass rearing of N. lugens was carried out at the Pesticide and Weeds Laboratory using Ciherang variety as feed. Insecticide toxicity test on macroptera female adults of N. lugens was carried out by the feed dipping method with two stages, namely preliminary and main tests. Preliminary test was carried out on N. lugens field population 2nd generation (F2), while main test was carried out on field population (F2) and standard population (F41). The observed variables were N. lugens mortality and resistance ratio (NR). Mortality data of N. lugens at 72 hours after insecticide application was analyzed probit using the PoloPlus program. The results showed that N. lugens of Rawa Medang population has been resistant (NR=6.2) to abamektin and indicated to be resistant to dimehipo (NR=1.5), while Sri Agung population was indicated to be resistant to abamektin (NR=2.9) and dimehipo (NR=1.5). N. lugens of Parit Culum II population has been resistant to BPMC (NR=4.94) and fipronil (NR=44.62), while Teluk Dawan population was indicated to be resistant to BPMC (NR=2.76)

Abstract

The research was conducted at the research farm and laboratory of plant pest, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jambi. The aim of the research was to study abundance of types and percentage of insect pest attackin upland rice cultivation using flowering plants. There were two treatments, namely the cultivation of upland rice Inpago 5 variety without and with flowering plants. There were 4 experimental plots with an area of 20 m x 10 m each, 2 plots each for cultivation of upland rice with and without flowering plants. The flowering plants used were sesame (Sesamun indicum) and Tagetes sp which were planted around the experimental plots. Variables observed included the type and number of insect pests, the percentage of rice stem borer attacks and the percentage of grain destroying pests. Data on type, number and percentage of plants attacked by pests were tabulated and analyzed descriptively. The number of pests in upland rice cultivation without flowering plants was more fluctuating and reached a peak at the age of 8 and 10 week after planting. The number of rice stem borers, the percentage of stems attacked by stem borers and the percentage of grains attacked were almost always higher in upland rice cultivation without flowering plants. The results showed that there were more types of insect pests on upland rice plants with flowering plants (27 species) compared to those without flowering plants (17 species). The number of insect pests in upland cultivation without flowering plants fluctuated more than upland rice cultivation with flowering plants. The percentage of insect pest attacks on rice stems and grains was lower in upland rice cultivaton with flowering plants than without flowering plants.

Abstract

Soybean is a food crop that has an important role in increasing national food security. To achieve maximum soybean productivity, plants need adequate nutrition, namely through fertilization. The limited availability of fertilizer greatly affects farming activities. Therefore, the use of organic fertilizer is one solution to this problem.This research was carried out at the Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University, UNJA Mendalo Campus, Mendalo Indah Village, Jambi Luar Kota District, Muaro Jambi Regency in approximately 4 months starting from 10 January to 30 April 2023. This research used a Randomized Block Design (RAK) one factor is the provision of Eco Enzyme concentration at 5 levels, namely: p0 = Eco enzyme 0 mL L-1, p1 = Eco enzyme 10 mL L-1, p2 = Eco enzyme 15 mL L-1, p3 = Eco enzyme 20 mL L-1, p4 = Eco enzyme 25 mL L-1.The results of this study showed that administration with several concentrations of Eco Enzyme gave different responses to plant height, number of pods per plant, number of pods containing plants, number of primary branches, weight of 100 seeds and yield per hectare and had no significant effect on the flowering rate of the plants. Giving Eco Enzyme with a concentration of 20 mL L-1 water is the best concentration.

Abstract

Timun (Cucumis sativus L.) adalah salah satu jenis sayuran yang masuk dalam famili labu-labuan (Cucurbitaceae) yang sudah popular di dunia. Dalam budidaya tanaman timun terdapat beberapa masalah dalam pengelolaan penanamannya, salah satunya adalah kondisi lahan yang tidak optimal untuk mendukung pertumbuhan timun , terutama di Jambi. Hal ini karena lahan di Jambi umumnya didominasi oleh tanah ultisol yang tingkat kesuburan yang rendah. Pupuk organik merupakan salah satu alternatif untuk meningkatkan kesuburan tanah. Penggunaan pupuk organik dapat menekan penggunaan pupuk anorganik. Pupuk organik memiliki sifat kimia, biologi dan fisika tanah yang baik. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jambi, Mendalo Indah Kecamatan Jambi Luar Kota, Kabupaten Muaro Jambi. Penelitian ini akan dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei 2021 sampai bulan November 2021. Penelitian ini mengguanakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yakni penambahan pupuk Trichokompos pelepah sawit, yang terdiri dari 6 taraf perlakuan: t0 = 0 ton/ha (kontrol) tanpa perlakuan (0 g/ tanaman), t1 = 15 ton/ha trichokompos pelepah sawit (320 g/tanaman), t2 = 30 ton/ha trichokompos pelepah sawit (480 g/tanaman), t3 = 45 ton/ha trichokompos pelepah sawit (640 g/tanaman), t4 = 60 ton/ha trichokompos pelepah sawit (800 g/tanaman), t5 = 75 ton/ha trichokompos pelepah sawit (960 g/tanaman). Terdapat 6 perlakuan, setiap perlakuan di ulang sebanyak 4 kali, sehingga di dapat 24 satuan percobaan. Setiap satuan percobaan terdiri dari 6 tanaman, sehingga pada penelitian ini akan di tanam 144 tanaman. Untuk melihat pengaruh perlakuan terhadap variabel yang diamati dilakukan uji anova dan uji lanjut Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan pupuk trichokompos pelepah kelapa sawit belum mampu memberikan pengaruh terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, panjang buah, diameter buah dan bobot pertanaman tanaman mentimun. Penambahan pupuk trichokompos pelepah kelapa sawit 60 ton/ha mampu memberikan hasil bobot buah pertanaman terbaik yaitu 204,791 kg.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji respon pemberian berbagai konsentrasi eco-enzyme memperkaya kecambah kacang hijau dan air cucian beras. kompos dekanter solid dan konsentrasi asam humat cair, serta mencari konsentrasi terbaik bagi pertumbuhan tanaman tomat. Penelitian dilakukan di Teaching dan Research Farm Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jambi, selama 12 MST. Penelitian menggunakan analisis statistik dengan pola Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pemberian berbagai konsentrasi eco-enzyme memperkaya kecambah dan air cucian beras berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, umur mulai berbunga, jumlah buah per tanaman, bobot buah per tanaman dan bobot buah per buah.

Abstract

The pursuit of economic growth often generates environmental pressures, particularly within the hospitality sector, which is highly dependent on environmental quality. This study investigates the role of eco-enzymes in enhancing economic growth through environmental sustainability as a mediating mechanism in the hotel industry in Sumatra, Indonesia. This study adopts a quantitative explanatory research design using survey data collected from 615 general managers and duty managers of three- to five-star hotels across Sumatra. The data were analyzed using SPSS 26 through descriptive statistics, validity and reliability testing, classical assumption tests, and multiple regression analysis to examine both direct and indirect relationships among variables. The findings reveal that eco-enzyme adoption does not have a significant direct effect on economic growth. However, eco-enzymes have a significant positive effect on environmental sustainability, which in turn positively and significantly influences economic growth. These results confirm the mediating role of environmental sustainability, indicating that the economic benefits of eco-enzymes are realized indirectly through improved environmental performance rather than immediate financial outcomes. The study provides important practical implications for hotel managers and policymakers. Eco-enzyme adoption should be viewed as a strategic sustainability investment that strengthens environmental performance, enhances operational efficiency, and supports long-term economic growth. These findings contribute to the growing literature on sustainable hospitality management by empirically demonstrating the importance of environmental sustainability as a pathway linking green innovation to economic performance.
