Abstract

Conventional vegetative propagation is the process in which new plants are grown from a variety of sources, seeds, cuttings and other parts of the plants. Therefore, the conventional vegetative propagation of liberica coffee by cutting or grafting of stems is hampered by the limited number of stem or branches, which can be used as propagating materials. In addition, the tissue culture technique is another method used to propagate liberica coffee. This study aims to investigate an efficient protocol for embryogenic callus development from leaf explants of Coffea liberica cv. Liberika Tungkal Komposit. The explants used are immature leaves of fully opened liberica coffee. The medium used was Murashige and Skoog (MS) composition supplemented with vitamins, 3% sucrose and solidified with 0.7% agar, and the medium pH was adjusted to 5.8 ± 0.1. The experiment was arranged in a factorial randomized block design, and the first factor was 2.4-D (2.0, 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 ppm) and then the second factor was BAP (0.0, 0.5, and 1.0 ppm). The results showed that the application of 2.4-D and BAP significantly improved the distribution of callus proliferation on cultured explants. The use of 2.0 ppm 2.4-D + 1.0 ppm BAP resulted in the fastest callus proliferation (19 days after culture initiation). In general, the application of different levels of 2.4-D and BAP successfully induced friable with nodular morphology callus on young leaf explant of liberica coffee. It is believe that the callus has embryogenic capacity and will undergo embryogenesis when transferred to a suitable medium composition

Abstract

The research was conducted at Agriculture Researh Farm, Faculty ofAgriculture, Jambi University. The aim of this research were todetermine the effect of the combination of different material and dosesof organic liquid fertilizers on growth and yield of celery (Apiumgraveolens, L.). Abstract

The aim of this study was to obtain the best combination of 2,4-D and BAP in inducing callus from leaf explants durian cv. Selat Jambi. Experiment was arranged in completely randomized design with a growth regulators combination of treatment 2,4-D (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 ppm) and BAP (0,0 ; 0.5 ppm). Each treatment consisted of 10 bottles each culture bottle were planted on explant culture. Explants were cultured on induction medium for 2 month. The parameter time of calli initiation were observed every day. Meanwhile the percentage of explant forming callus, callus structure and color of callus was observed at the end of the study. The results showed that, granting some combination of growth regulators 2,4-D and BAP are given to the culture medium was able to stimulate the formation of callus on leaf explants young durian CV. Selat Jambi. Time of the fastest callus initiation (8 days after cultur) was obtained on medium 4 ppm 2,4-D + 0.5 ppm BAP. In contrast, the highest percentage of explants forming callus was obtained on treatment of 5 ppm 2,4-D (30%).Key words: Exsplants, Durio zibethinus, callus, BAP, 2,4-D

Abstract

The objective pf this research was to determine the phenology of vegetative and generative growth of duku plant variety kumpeh at different ages. The treatment was design in randomized block design (RBD) with duku plant age duku as a treatment. The treatments tested were analysis : LA=Age plants less than 25 years; plants LB=Age 25-50 years, and LC=Age 50 years and older plants. On the obtained results, that theair temperature has a positive correlation to the length of shoots, shoots diameter and number of leaves at different plant age duku. Poster for the end of all plant life duku happened in September but there is a difference between the starting time and peak Poster. Flowering in plants duku occurredin the village of Karang Cityin early Octoberis the end of the dry season or the beginning of the rainy season. Duku fruit that reaches fruit set can beharvestedat 125 days after anthesis. Duku plants aged >50 produce fruit that tastes sweeter, with asugarcontent of 18.93% and 0.36% acid levels. Abstract

This research was aimed to indentify the effect of varies type and concentration of plant growth regulators for induce callus embryo somatic regeneration from Tengkawang plantlets. The type of plant growth regulators are GA3 and BAP and the concentration of GA3 are 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 ppm and BAP are 1.0, 3.0, 5.0 ppm. The result of this experiment showed all treatment could induced the regeneration of callus somatic embryos to form a new root organs but failure to induced shoot formation. The highest percentage of root formation was achieved at plant growth regulator BAP 3.0 ppm. Culture which failure to regenerate the new organ, still induced callus with compact structure and at GA3 treatment the colour. Abstract

This experiment aims to determine the effect of different fertilizers formula on  chinesse kale (Brassica oleracea). This research was conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jambi. This research was carried out for 3 months. This study was conducted using  Randomized Complete Block design with one factor of fertilizers formula. The treatments  consist 6 treatment :  Formula 1 = Chemical fertilizers (Urea: 200 kg / ha, Sp-36: 150 kg / ha and KCl: 150 kg / ha), Formula II = solid chicken manure  1.6 kg / plot, Formula III = solid chiken manure  3.2 kg / plot, Formula IV = Liquid fertilizer feremented from chicken manure 25 ml / plant, Formula V = Liquid fertilizer fermented from chicken manure 50 ml / plant, Formula IV = Liquid fertilizerfermented from chicken manure 75 ml/ plant. Each treatment was repeated four times. The results showed the formula II, solid  chicken manure at dose 1.6 kg / plot achivied  the highest chinese kale yield. Abstract

This study was aimed at investigating the effect of NAA and BAP on the development of basal slip slices in tissue culture of pineapple cv. Tangkit. The experiment was conducted at the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory Agricultural Faculty University of Jambi from July through to October 2016. Six level of NAA concentrations (0, 1, 2, 3 , 4 and 5 mgL-1) were tested in combination with six levels of BAP concentration (0, 1, 2, 3 , 4 and 5 mgL-1). A Completely Randomized Design with 5 replicates was employed in this trial. Data on the percentage of explants forming shoots, time required for shoot formation, number of shoots growing per explants, and callus proliferation were recorded. Results showed that without the involvement of plant growth regulators there had been no growth on cultured explants. However, shoot growth was found on explants cultured on medium supplemented with 1 – 3 mgL-1 NAA or 1 – 5 mgL-1 BAP. The application of NAA higher than 3 mgL-1 was found to suppress shoot growth even in combination with BAP. Shoot formation was found to be fast on medium supplemented with 1 mgL-1 NAA + 4 mgL-1 BAP, but took longer time on medium with or 1 mgL-1 NAA + 5 mgL-1 BAP as well as medium with 1 – 2 mgL-1 NAA only. The same phenomenon was also found on medium with 1 – 2 mgL-1 NAA only. This study also revealed that most of cultured explants regenerated only one shoot, but explants cultured on medium with 1 mgL-1 NAA along with 1 mgL-1 BAP produced 2.33 shoots on the average. The addition of 1 mgL-1 NAA without BAP and 1 mgL-1 BAP without NAA could increase average shoot growth by 1.78 and 1.44, respectively. Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan pada tahun 2019 melibatkan kelompok Ibu PKK warga RT 25, Desa Mendalo Darat. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk menfasilitasi warga dalam mengatasi kendala pada budidaya tanaman di lahan pekarangan khususnya tanaman seledri dan cabai, terutama dalam hal pembuatan pupuk organik, pembibitan, perawatan tanaman serta pengendalian hama dan penyakit. Sehingga melalui kegiatan pengabdian ini diharapkan pengetahuan, pemahaman dan keterampilan warga tentang budidaya seledri dan cabai organik meningkat dan dapat mengoptimalkan penggunaan lahan pekarangan untuk budidaya seledri dan cabai. Metode Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) digunakan dalam pemecahan masalah melalui kegiatan: 1) Pelatihan pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan secara optimal untuk budidaya tanaman seledri dan cabai, 2) Pembuatan pupuk organik padat dan cair, pembuatan pestisida nabati dari beberapa bahan, 3) Implementasi budidaya seledri dan cabai secara organik pada masing-masing lahan pekarangan warga RT 25. Demplot budidaya seledri dilakukan secara vertikultur menggunakan rak besi sebanyak dua unit, untuk lahan pekarangan dua peserta. Sedangkan peserta lainnya penanaman dilakukan tanpa menggunakan rak. Hasil yang dicapai setelah melakukan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah: meningkatnya pengetahuan, pemahaman dan keterampilan para peserta mengenai cara pembuatan pupuk organik dan pestisida nabati, pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan untuk budidaya seledri dan cabai organik, serta meningkatnya minat para peserta dalam pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan untuk budidaya seledri dan cabai organik. Kata kunci: optimalisasi, pekarangan, budidaya seledri dan cabai organik, pupuk organik, pestisida nabati ABSTRACT This activity was carried out in 2019 involving the PKK group of RT 25, Mendalo Darat Village. This activity aims to facilitate peoples in overcoming obstacles of plant cultivation in their yards, especially celery and chili plants, mainly in terms of making organic fertilizers, nurseries, plant care and pest and disease control. So that it is hoped that the knowledge, understanding and skills of people about organic celery and chili cultivation will increase and can optimize the use of yard land for celery and chili cultivation. The Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) method is used in problem solving through the following activities: 1) Training on optimal use of yard land for celery and chili cultivation, 2) Making of solid and liquid organic fertilizers, botany pesticides from several materials, 3) Implementation of cultivation celery and chili organically in each yard of RT 25 people. The demonstration plot for celery cultivation was carried out vertically using two iron racks, for two participants' yards. While other participants planting is done without using a rack. The results achieved after carrying out this activity are: increased knowledge, understanding and skills of the participants regarding how to make organic fertilizers and botanic pesticides, the use of yard land for organic celery and chili cultivation, as well as increasing participants' interest in using yard land for celery cultivation and organic chili. Abstract

This service aims to provide guidance, counseling and assistance on the application of MOL Nasi stale, as a local microbe for biodecomposers in processing household waste into solid organic fertilizer (porasi) and as liquid organic fertilizer used for mung bean plants. Methods The implementation of the activity is counseling to all members of the Women Farmers Group followed by a demonstration at the village office and continued with field practice at the women's group home and demonstration of land cultivation plots and planting green beans. The implementation stage is divided into 3 stages, namely the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The preparation stage includes the preparation of tools and materials and leaflets for extension participants and the manufacture of tubs or culverts for the manufacture of Porasi and land preparation for planting green beans in people's yards. The results of the activity show that community participation in the percentage of attendance at the time of counseling is classified as moderate, participating in technological counseling is high, applying technology is classified as moderate, land processing for planting is low to moderate because it is assisted by the family.

Abstract

One of the efforts to make efficient use of yard is by planting with plants that are used to meet the needs of themselves and the needs of others. In addition, to make efficient use of land and yard will be well maintained, beautiful and also increase household income. In Teratai village, Muara Bulian sub-district, there is agroindustry based on farmer group which has the healthy drink with the red ginger raw material. They produce these healthy drinks by using raw materials ordered from other regions. This makes agroindustry highly dependent on the supply of others to meet the needs of these raw materials. In this devotional activity carried out demonstration area on the farmyard yard where the Team Dedication as a companion. Through demonstration the farmers' area gets direct guidance from the Community Services Team, seeing and practicing every material given in accordance with the stages of plant development. In this way, it is expected to transfer knowledge and technology effectively from universities to the community. Thus, it is expected to increase the knowledge and skills of farmers in the cultivation of red ginger plants as yard plants, especially ginger farmers in the village of Teratai and generally red ginger farmers in Muara Jambi Regency.
