Abstract

Abstract

Adherents of ancestral religions stand in two entities as indigenous peoples and as citizens after the Constitutional Court Decision Number 96 of 2016 provided hope for believers as citizens to express their communal identity. This research aims to find out the form of relationship between Orang Lom and the state to civil rights services and to see the efforts made by Orang Lom to gain recognition from the state so that they have access to civil services. The approach in this study put forward Axel Honneth's political theory of recognition by dissecting it through the elements of subjectivity, objectivity, and solidarity that developed in the practice of civil rights services for the Mapur Lom Tribe. This study utilized a descriptive qualitative method with a case-study approach in the Mapur Indigenous Community of Orang Lom, Belinyu District, Bangka Belitung. The data collection technique was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and literature studies. Moreover, data analysis applied various sources, both from key informants and secondary data. The data analysis was performed by using an interactive model in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that the relationship between Orang Lom and the state seemed more administrative in nature on the basis of the prevailing laws and regulations regarding civil service and population administration. At this time, Orang Lom can put their belief in God Almighty in the column of National ID Card, but traditional marriage has not been recognized so that it has an impact on children's birth certificates and education services. In terms of the funeral of the adherents of folk religions, they do not receive any rejection from the community while for the organization's administration, the existence of the Mapur Customary Institution of Orang Lom receives recognition from Majelis Luhur Kepercayaan Indonesia.

Abstract

The factors that led to the extinction of a regional language dialect are the absence of inputting the vocabulary into a dictionary, recording the phonological system to academic articles, and the absence of language enthusiasts or linguists who want to maintain the existence of a dialect in a community. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the phonological system in the Toboali dialect as the variant of the Malay language in the South Bangka Regency. The research is triggered by the decreasing use of regional languages in society and it purports to identify and describe the phonological system of the Toboali dialect. To do that, this study uses a qualitative method in which the researchers firstly collected data, then analyzed and classified the data, and finally drew a conclusion. The Swadesh list which consists of 250 vocabularies was utilized during the interview. The researchers obtained the Toboali dialect words by gesturing or pointing to objects and images so the informants were able to pronounce the words and then the phonetic transcription could be written. Thus, the data obtained are accurate because the language obtained was not delivered in Indonesian but is purely pronounced in the Toboali dialect. The results of this study indicate that there are 7 vowels: [?], [e], [o], [i], [?], [?], [a] and 19 consonants are found in the Toboali dialect: [b], [c], [d], [f], [g], [h], [j], [k], [l], [m], [n], [p], [r], [s], [t], [w], [y], [z], and [?].

Abstract

Currently, illicit relationships such as those of same-sex couples have special symbols that they use as their identity. These symbols are created by their community. We can see directly and analyse their community’s symbols through movies. One of them is the gay movie that this research examined, "Boy Meets Boy". This research uses qualitative methods, which are analyzed using Roland Barthes's semiotic theory. This research aims to identify or find gay symbols using Roland Barthes's semiotic theory formulation. This research obtained 3 gay symbols. The symbols obtained is the result of Roland Barthes's semiotic analysis with three meanings, namely denotation, connotation and myth. Denotation is a real (visual) reading of meaning. Connotation is a subjective reading of meaning, while myth is a relationship between meaning and symptoms or phenomena that are believed by many people. The datum is obtained from the scene of non-verbal communication shown by the gay couple in the "Boy Meets Boy" movie. Non-verbal communication in this movie includes physical touch, kissing on the lips, kissing the hair, stealing glances, glances or stares, and intimate relationships. The implications of existing symbols basically do not have any meaning if we do not know the meaning of the symbols. This symbol is closely associated with the LGBTQ+ community. Hopefully, this research can provide knowledge to find out more about this community.
