Abstract

Kue bakpia merupakan kue tradisional yang dikenal di beberapa daerah di Indonesia. Kue bakpia terbuat dari bahan-bahan seperti terigu, minyak sayur, gula halus, air dan garam. Isian dari kue bakpia ini umumnya adalah kacang hijau. Bakpia ada dua jenis, yaitu bakpia basah dan bakpia kering. Daya tahan dari bakpia basah dan bakpia kering berbeda. Bakpia basah bertahan sampai empat hari dan bakpia kering dapat bertahan hingga tiga minggu, terkadang juga kurang dari seharusnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui adanya kontaminasi kuman Staphylococcus aureus dan menghitung jumlah total kuman dengan metode ALT pada kue bakpia basah. Hasil pemeriksaan identifikasi kuman Staphylococcus aureus terhadap 5 (lima) sampel bakpia kacang hijau basah didapatkan 2 (dua) sampel, yaitu sampel BP3 dan BP4 terkontaminasi Staphylococcus aureus. Sedangkan dari hasil hitung total jumlah kuman pada 5 (lima) kue bakpia kacang hijau basah belum memenuhi Standart Nasional Indonesia (SNI 7388:2009) tentang pangan, khususnya bakpia kacang hijau dengan batas maksimum cemarannya adalah 1 x 104 cfu/g sampel.

Abstract

Infectious lesions on the skin surface are easily colonized by various organisms. Pyogenic infections are still common, especially in developing countries and for therapeutic treatment is a big challenge. Ensure appropriate and efficient therapy, inflammation-focused identification and treatment is needed. The aim of this research was to identify germs isolated from pus sample in patients suffering from wound infentions on the skin surface. The type of this research is descriptive explorative. Pus sample were taken from two people who had an infection wound on the skin surface. In this research was found Pseudomonas aeruginosa with a similarity percentage of 90.7% and Staphylococcus aureus with a percentage similarity of 91.5 % in the pus sample.

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease can cause a progressive decline in kidney function which can lead to kidney failure. One of the therapies for patients with chronic kidney failure is hemodialysis, but this method can cause complications, including worsening of anemia. This study aims to determine differences in hemoglobin levels and erythrocyte index in patients with chronic renal failure before and after hemodialysis. This study is an experimental using data on hemoglobin and erythrocyte index results pre and post hemodialysis in patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis therapy at RSPAL dr. Ramelan Surabaya. Paired Sample T-test was used to determine differences in hemoglobin levels and erythrocyte index in patients with chronic renal failure pre and post hemodialysis. In this study, there were differences in hemoglobin levels and erythrocyte index in patients with chronic renal failure before and after hemodialysis.

Abstract

Lime (Citrus aurantifolia) is one of the herbal plants that is rich in benefits, especially as a herbal medicines. Besides of lime fruit, lime peel also has antibacterial properties such as essential oils which contain flavonoids which can inhibit bacterial growth. This research utilizes lime peel which will be extracted as a test material. The purpose of this research is to determine the antibacterial potential of lime peel extract against Vibrio sp. at various concentrations. This research used the well-diffusion method using MHA as a test medium to determine whether lime peel extract can inhibit the growth of Vibrio sp. Various concentrations and penicillin as a positive control used in this research to determine which concentration has a greatest potential for inhibiting the growth of Vibrio sp. Result of this study used qualitative analysis by comparing the clear zone size produced on the medium. The obtained result shown that 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% concentration of lime peel can forming a clear zone which mean they can inhibit the growth of  Vibrio sp. The best concentration used to inhibit Vibrio sp. is 100% concentration which produce 23.7 mm clear zone on MHA medium. Lime peel extract can be used to inhibit Vibrio sp. growth based on the research result.

Abstract

This research is based on Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection which can increase the value of erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Where the transmission of these bacteria through the respiratory tract is known as Droplet Infection. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of one month tuberculosis treatment on the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and acid fast bacilli (AFB) examination. This type of research is a laboratory observation study with an accidental sampling technique of 30 samples which was carried out at the Singotrunan Banyuwangi health center for 30 days. The results showed that out of 30 samples examined, it showed that there was an influence of ESR and acid fast bacilli examinations on Tuberculosis patients who had been treated for one month. The conclusion is that there is an influence on Tuberculosis patients on ESR and AFB examinations at the Singotrunan Banyuwangi Health Center. Keywords : Tuberculosis, ESR, AFB

Abstract

Hyperglycemia is a marker of diabetes mellitus which is generally caused by damaged pancreatic ? cells which interferes with insulin secretion, causing the amount of blood glucose in the body to be uncontrolled. Marsilea crenata is known to contain several phytochemical compounds such as phenolics, flavonoids and steroids which have a positive effect on treating metabolic disorders. This study aims to determine the effect of Marsilea crenata cooking water on blood glucose levels in Mus musculus. The method used to check blood glucose levels is the POCT method. The results obtained in this study indicate that there is a difference in the average blood glucose examination in the treatment group and the control group. The average blood glucose before treatment was found to be 186.1 mg/dl, while measurements at the 4th and 7th hours after therapy with Marsilea crenata boiled water showed results of 166 mg/dl and 155.2 mg/dl. Statistical tests indicated that there was a significant difference or the effect of giving Marsilea crenata boiled water on decreasing blood glucose levels. Keywords : Marsilea crenata, Mus musculus, Blood glucose level, Hyperglycemia

Abstract

Margarine is a product of emulsion, both semisolid and liquid made from vegetable fats. The composition of margarine includes fats, water, vitamins A and vitamin E as well as other ingredients. At SNI 7388:2009 on the maximum limit of microbial contamination there are some bacteria that are often found in foodstuffs margarine including Salmonella sp. and Staphylococcus aureus. Salmonellasp. bacteria can lead to deman enteric, diarrhea, nausea, stomach cramps. Staphylococcus aureusbacteria are the most frequently used agents to cause skin sepsis, enteric infections, septic and pneumonia. The purpose of research is to know the contamination of Salmonella sp. and Staphylococcus aureus as well as ALT bacteria in margarine. The method used is laboratory experiments. From the results of the identification of 10 samples of Salmonella sp. and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. As well as the result ALT bacteria meet the quality requirements of margarine.

Abstract

Banana peels contains simple sugars and complex sugars which can be utilized in metabolism of microorganisms. This means that banana peels can be used as an alternative culture medium for microorganisms. Rhizopus sp. and Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a type of microbe that often found in nature, and is one type of microbe that can be used in the food and non-food industries. In general, fungi need nitrogn, carbon, vitamins and growth factors. In this research, two types of fungi were grown on the Musa paradisiaca peels (pisang tanduk) and Musa acuminata peels (pisang kepok), as well as potato dextrose agar as a control medium. Growth was observed 24, 48 and 72 hours after inoculation. The data obtained is a qualitative data and analyzed descriptively. We found that the growth results on alternative medium using M. acuminata were quite good for Rhizopus sp. and S. cerevisiae. Meanwhile, medium using M. paradisiaca more suitable for the growth of Rhizopus sp. Keywords: Musa paradisiaca peels, Musa acuminata peels, Rhizopus sp., Saccharomyces cerivisiae
