Abstract

Pediculus humanus capitis atau yang dikenal dengan kutu rambut merupakan ektoparasit yang hidup pada kulit kepala manusia. Gejala klinis yang terjadi adalah rasa gatal oleh gigitan kutu rambut pada kulit kepala. Apabila sudah terserang maka efek yang ditimbulkan rasa gatal yang tidak tertahankan dan sangat menggangu sehingga akan terjadi garukan yang kuat dan dapat menyebabkan luka dan iritasi pada kulit kepala.Hal ini memudahkan masuknya bakteri sehingga terjadi infeksi. Cara penanggulangan bagi masyarakat biasanya dengan penggunaan bahan kimia seperti organochlorides (DDT dan lindane), pyrethrins alami dan sintetis (disinergikan dengan piperonyl butoxide) dan karbamat. Penggunaan terlalu banyak insektisida kimia dapat menyebabkan timbulnya iritasi pada kulit kepala dan residu yang ditinggalkan dapat juga meracuni manusia. Penanggulangan Pediculus humanus capitis pada insektisida alami dapat dilakukan dengan senyawa flavonoid yang terkandung dalam Sirih Merah dan Daun Srikaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan populasi anak-anak yang menderita kutu rambut di daerah Balongbendo Sidoarjo dengan kriteria sampel kutu rambut (Pediculus humanus capitis) yang di reaksikan dengan rebusan sirih merah dan daun srikaya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sirih merah dan daun srikaya dapat melihat kematian kutu rambut (Pediculus humanus capitis) paling efektif konsentrasi 100% dengan kurun waktu 15 menit.

Abstract

Aspartic aminotransferase (AST) is a mitochondrial enzyme that catalyzes the back and forth transfer of amino groups from aspartic acid to ?-oxaloacetic acid to form glutamic acid and oxaloacetic acid. AST is contained in erythrocytes so that if there is hemolysis, a ruptured erythrocyte will cause an increase in the activity of the AST enzyme that comes out of the erythrocyte. This study aims to determine the effect of hemolysis in serum on AST enzyme activity. This research method is experimental by comparing normal serum with hemolytic serum. The research sample involved 30 employees of the Manding Sumenep Public Health Center who would be examined for the AST enzyme activity. The results showed that the AST enzyme activity in normal serum had an average of 24.367 IU / L, while the average hemolytic serum was 39.3 IU / L. Based on the results of these data, it shows that there is an increase in AST enzyme activity in hemolytic serum compared to normal serum.

Abstract

Dengue virus infection is an infectious disease examination which is still quite high in Sampang Regency. On average, cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever spread in 22 villages from 2019-2020. The local health office noted that there were 181 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever during January to December 2020. The locations and examinations in this study were carried out at the Farmalab Sampang Clinical Laboratory. Data collection is carried out in January 2021 to March 2021. This study aims to determine the description of liver function in patients with suspected Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. The method used is descriptive analytic with data collection techniques based on laboratory analysis, literature study and observation. The results of the SGOT and SGPT examination showed an increase of 3-10 times in 15 respondents (75%) experiencing an increase in SGOT levels and 16 respondents (80%) SGPT.

Abstract

Menstrual disorders are important indicators that indicate impaired reproductive system function that can be associated with an increased risk of various diseases such as uterine cancer, breast cancer, infertility and diabetes mellitus (DM). This is due to the presence of estrogen receptors on pancreatic cells which will increase insulin release and will be influenced by hormonal changes in the menstrual phase. Blood glucose or blood sugar is the main nutrient used for cell metabolism and energy supply in the body, and regulates and maintains glucose within normal limits.This study aims to determine the differences in fasting blood glucose examination in the follicular phase and the luteal phase in menstruating women. This type of research is descriptive with quantitative laboratory analysis techniques, namely calculating fasting blood glucose levels. The material used for this test was the blood of patients as many as 10 samples for the follicular phase and the luteal phase. The results obtained in the follicular phase with results that were not much different from normal values, while in the luteal phase the results slightly increased from the normal value of 70-110 mg/dL and the results obtained a difference in percentage with the results of 13%.

Abstract

Dengue Haemorrahagic Fever (DHF) is an acute epidemic disease caused by the dengue virus that spreads rapidly throughout the world, especially in tropical and subtropical areas (WHO, 2014). In dengue hemorrhagic fever, plasma seepage occurs which is characterized by hemoconcentration (increased hematocrit) or fluid accumulation in the body cavity. This study aims to determine the number of hematocrit and leukocytes of patients with suspected dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) with thrombocytopenia. It was concluded that as many as 25 samples, 10 samples of leukocyte values were below normal (40%) and 15 samples did not experience a decrease (60%). The hematocrit obtained 8 samples below normal (32%) and 17 samples with normal hematocrit (68%) the lowest value was 25.4% and the highest was 48.1%.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to measure the potential of purple sweet potato and yellow sweet potato (lpomoea batatas) juice in reducing blood sugar levels in mice strain BALB/c (Mus musculus) conditioned by hyperglycemia. This study was required 30 mice and divided into 3 groups placed in cages. Each groups consisted of 10 female mice (Mus musculus) weighing 25-30 g and 2.5 months. The results showed that there were differences in the value of blood sugar levels in mice. The group of normal mice, blood sugar levels did not increase or decrease, the group of mice with dextrose treatment had an increase in blood sugar values, the group of mice with dextrose treatment and sweet potato therapy had a decrease in blood sugar values. The results of statistical calculations obtained a significance value of 0.00 which means that the value of blood sugar levels has a significant difference after administration of purple sweet potato and yellow sweet potato juice. The conclusion of this study that purple and yellow sweet potatoes juice (lpomoea batatas) could lower blood sugar levels in mice (Mus musculus) which were previously hyperglicemia conditioned, so it could be continued as candidates to be tested in further research purple and yellow sweet potatoes can be candidats for blood sugar lowering foods.

Abstract

Lime (Citrus aurantifolia) is one of the herbal plants that is rich in benefits, especially as a herbal medicines. Besides of lime fruit, lime peel also has antibacterial properties such as essential oils which contain flavonoids which can inhibit bacterial growth. This research utilizes lime peel which will be extracted as a test material. The purpose of this research is to determine the antibacterial potential of lime peel extract against Vibrio sp. at various concentrations. This research used the well-diffusion method using MHA as a test medium to determine whether lime peel extract can inhibit the growth of Vibrio sp. Various concentrations and penicillin as a positive control used in this research to determine which concentration has a greatest potential for inhibiting the growth of Vibrio sp. Result of this study used qualitative analysis by comparing the clear zone size produced on the medium. The obtained result shown that 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% concentration of lime peel can forming a clear zone which mean they can inhibit the growth of  Vibrio sp. The best concentration used to inhibit Vibrio sp. is 100% concentration which produce 23.7 mm clear zone on MHA medium. Lime peel extract can be used to inhibit Vibrio sp. growth based on the research result.

Abstract

Head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) commonly infecting children in most countries. Soursop leaves (Annona muricata Linn) contain acetogenin compounds. The acetogenin compound functions as an anti feedent, some people also use olive oil to kill head lice, because olive oil contains flavonoids. The purpose of this study was to see the potential of soursop leaf extract with olive oil to kill head lice. This type of research is experimental. The method used to obtain soursop leaf extract is the maceration method. The results of giving soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata Linn) with olive oil (Olea eruopaea) on the mortality of head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) in controls showed no dead head lice, 10% concentration of 4 dead head lice, 20% concentration 6 dead head lice, 30% concentration of 8 dead head lice observed every 15 minutes. Based on these results, it can be seen that the combination of soursop leaf extract and olive oil has the potential to kill head lice.Keywords: Soursop leaf extract, olive oil, head lice

Abstract

Pseudomonas aeruginosamerupakan bakteri yang menginfeksi manusia yang sering ditemui pada kulit yang mengalami luka/trauma. Untuk penyembuhan luka infeksi menggunakan antibiotik tetapi banyaknya kasus resistensi terhadap antibiotik membuat angka infeksi semakin tinggi karena bakteri yang ada dalam tubuh semakin berkembang. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh enzim bromelin pada mahkota nanas (Ananas comosus) dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Metode maserasi digunakan untuk mengekstraksi mahkota nanas dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Ekstrak mahkota nanas diidentifikasi enzim bromelin dengan spektrofotometer serta dilakukan uji efektifitas enzim bromelin pada mahkota nans (Ananas comosus) dengan konsentrasi 25%, 50%, 75% dan 100% dalam menenkan pertumbuhan Pseudomonas aeruginosadengan metode difusi sumuran. Sebagai kontrol positif uji menggunakan Chloramphenicol dan sebagai kontrol negatif menggunakan larutan Pz yang sudah steril. Hasil kadar identifikasi enzim bromelin yang didapatkan pada mahkota nanas (Ananas comosus) adalah 0,153 U/mL. Uji daya hambat yang termasuk kategori sensitif hanya pada konsentrasi 100%. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan konsentrasi ekstrak mahkota nanas 25% dan 50% berbeda nyata dengan ekstrak mahkota nanas konsentrasi 75% dan 100%.

Abstract

Soil is a mineral material that has several unconsolidated forms which are located on the surface of the earth and have undergone several treatments. Soil-Transmitted Helminth (STH) is an intestinal nematode that in its life cycle requires a soil medium for the infective form to mature. worms are moist soil, shady, and protected from sunlight. This study aims to determine whether there is contamination of "Soil-Transmitted Helminth" eggs and what species are present in the rice fields using the Native method. This examination uses a 2% eosin solution. The sample uses paddy fields in Sukodono Village. Sampling at 3 sampling points with 3 types of samples, the total sample is 9 samples of paddy soil. The research was conducted on April 26-28 2021 at the Parasitology Laboratory, Faculty of Health Sciences, Maarif Hasyim Latif University, Sidoarjo, on 9 samples of paddy soil, the results obtained were 3 types of samples, or 33% of the soil contaminated with worm eggs and 6 types of samples or 66% not contaminated with worm eggs. Keywords: Paddy fields, Soil Transmitted Helminth, Native Method
