Abstract

Indonesia is on the path of the Bean Belt, which is an area suitable for the development of coffee trees. This makes Indonesia the fourth largest coffee producing country in the world with a production value of up to 12 million 60-kilo sacks by the end of 2020. Malang Regency, East Java, is one of the largest coffee bean producing regions in Indonesia. Squirrel coffee is a variant of coffee that comes from the rest of the coffee cherries consumed by squirrels. This process provides a distinctive taste and aroma for coffee lovers. The uniqueness of Bajing coffee has not been exploited by coffee farmers and Pamanjur. Even consumers are more likely to choose Arabica coffee than squirrel coffee, because they feel that the taste does not have a significant difference. As a result, the price of squirrel coffee is still unable to reach its full potential. The UMM Service Team assisted Girimoyo and Pamanjur Villages to Compile Product Value and packaging to increase the selling value of Bajing Coffee. Several steps were taken by the team to develop a program to strengthen the value of coffee squirrels in Girimoyo Village, including: holding a meeting with the owner of Pamanjur to obtain initial data, then the team tried to understand the flavor profile of coffee squirrels by conducting a taste test, then developing a program to strengthen the value of coffee squirrels through design. packaging, by changing the name of Bajing coffee to Belka coffee. The term "Belka" comes from the Russian language which is the name for the animal "Squirrel". After the concept matured, the team worked on a prototype of the Bajing coffee packaging. The final stage is the finalization and printing process carried out by Pamanjur. In conclusion, by taking advantage of the unique characteristics of Kopi Bajing and implementing an effective packaging design, Girimoyo Village can maximize the market potential of its specialty coffee.

Abstract

Di wilayah Nusantara, cerita rakyat dengan motif “anak durhaka” tampaknya cukup populer. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan ditemukannya enam belas cerita di wilayah Nusantara yang memiliki motif tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan struktural dengan metode sastra bandingan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah close reading. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah metode struktural-komparatif da diolah dengan model kualitatif-interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan motif anak durhaka ditemukan pada enam belas judul cerita rakyat. Motif ini muncul sebagai peringatan moral yang menyoroti pentingnya menghormati orang tua, sementara motif perubahan bentuk atau transformasi memberikan alegori tentang perjalanan spiritual dan pembelajaran karakter. Motif kemiskinan yang berubah menjadi kekayaan menciptakan narasi yang inspiratif, sementara motif kutukan memainkan peran penting dalam memberikan dimensi moral pada cerita rakyat. Tokoh utama dan pendamping menjadi elemen kunci dalam menggambarkan kompleksitas moralitas, sedangkan setting tempat dari cerita menciptakan lokalitas dan keberagaman kisah serta menambahkan dimensi budaya yang mendalam. Dengan menggali motif dalam cerita rakyat Nusantara, artikel ini membantu memahami nilai-nilai kultural dan spiritual yang diperjuangkan oleh masyarakat Indonesia. In the Indonesian archipelago, folk tales with the motif of "disobedient children" seem to be quite popular. This is proven by the discovery of sixteen stories in the archipelago that have this motif. This research uses a structural approach with comparative literature methods. The data collection technique used was close reading. The analysis technique used is a structural-comparative method and is processed using a qualitative-interactive model. The research results show that the motif of the disobedient child is found in sixteen folklore titles. This motif appears as a moral warning that highlights the importance of respecting parents, while the motif of shapeshifting or transformation provides an allegory about spiritual journeys and character learning. The motif of poverty turning into wealth creates an inspirational narrative, while the curse motif plays an important role in giving a moral dimension to folk tales. The main characters and companions are key elements in depicting the complexity of morality, while the setting of the story creates the locality and diversity of the story and adds a deep cultural dimension. By exploring motifs in Indonesian folklore, this article helps us understand the cultural and spiritual values fought for by Indonesian society.

Abstract

Background: The news coverage from Detik.com and Kompas.com regarding the sacrificial cow numbered 024, associated with Anies as a presidential candidate for 2024, presents an intriguing subject. These media outlets differ in their ideologies. Purpose: This study aims to examine the framing of Anies as a 2024 presidential candidate in the news coverage of Detik.com and Kompas.com during the Eid al-Adha moment in 2022. As each moment during a Political Year holds the potential to influence public opinion and impact the electability of political figures, understanding the framing strategies employed by the media is crucial. Method: This research utilizes a qualitative approach, analyzing ten news articles from Detik.com and two news articles from Kompas.com. The analysis includes an examination of titles, news content, and accompanying pictures or photos, employing Robert Mathew Entman’s framing analysis model. Results: Detik.com and Kompas.com adopt different perspectives in framing the news about Anies. Detik.com presents news in two directions, where some articles suggest that the existence of cow number 024 is merely coincidental, while others imply a connection between the incident and political issues. In contrast, Kompas.com employs a single form of framing, portraying it as a political symbol. Conclusion: It can be concluded that Kompas.com’s coverage is relatively limited and less accommodating compared to Detik.com. However, Kompas.com presents Anies’ reporting as a form of “political language,” positioning him as a potential “dark horse” in the 2024 Indonesian Presidential Election. Implications: This study sheds light on the construction of meaning and public opinion towards Anies, influenced by the news consumed by individuals. The media’s framing of Anies plays a significant role in shaping public perception and impacting public opinion regarding his candidacy.

Abstract

Nusantara memiliki ratusan cerita rakyat yang tersebar dalam beragam etnis. Berbagai cerita rakyat tersebut diwariskan antargenerasi sebagai bentuk kekayaan budaya masyarakat. Meskipun begitu, cerita rakyat sebagai hasil konstruksi manusia mengandung nilai-nilai dan pandangan dunia yang dianggap ideal oleh masyarakat pemilik cerita. Hal ini salah satunya berkaitan dengan konstruksi maskulinitas. Penelitian ini berupaya mengetahui bagaimana representasi maskulinitas dalam Cerita Rakyat Nusantara. Penelitian ini bersifat tekstual dengan metode close reading. Teori yang digunakan untuk membentuk interpretasi adalah teori representasi Stuart Hall. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan konsep tujuh area maskulinitas milik Janet Saltzman Chafetz. Objek dari penelitian ini adalah 233 tokoh laki-laki dari 33 cerita rakyat yang dipilih secara purposive pada website ceritarakyatnusantara.com. Teknik Analisis data yang digunakan merupakan model analisis Miles dan Huberman. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tujuh area maskulinitas Janet Saltzman Chafetz terepresentasikan di dalam Cerita Rakyat Nusantara. Maskulinitas di dalam Cerita Rakyat Nusantara direpresentasikan memiliki fisik yang kuat, gagah, dan tampan. Berkaitan dengan konsep maskulinitas fungsional, mayoritas direpresentasikan memiliki fungsional yang positif seperti penolong, bertanggung jawab, dan berperan sebagai tulang punggung keluarga. Konsep maskulinitas pada tokoh laki-laki berkaitan dengan agresi seksual secara jumlah direpresentasikan secara berimbang. Konsep maskulinitas emosi mayoritas merepresentasikan tokoh laki-laki sebagai tokoh yang pemarah. Konsep maskulinitas intelektual, mayoritas tokoh laki-laki direpresentasikan sebagai suatu hal yang positif seperti cerdik, cerdas, dan sakti. Tiga representasi maskulinitas interpersonal yang paling menonjol adalah bijaksana, baik hati, dan rendah hati. Terakhir, pada konsep maskulinitas karakter personal lainnya tergambarkan secara berimbang dari segi sifat positif dan negatifnya.

Abstract

Children and teenagers are at risk of being sexually abused targeted or performing risky sexual behavior. Appropriate sex education from their closest environment presented by parents or teachers is in demand. However, parents and teachers have limitations in giving sex education, especially in early childhood. Even though workshops or training for improving parents’ knowledge and skills are effective, specifically designed education tools are needed to support parents ad teachers in disseminating sexuality topics for kids. This research aimed to validate the picture storybook “Tubuhku Berharga” specially designed for preschoolers in two consecutive procedures. First, the content validation process to evaluate the design’s relevance and appropriateness. Next, a quasi-experiment protocol as an empirical validation process was conducted following the content validation. A one-group pretest-posttest design was used in a local kindergarten. The result demonstrated that the picture storybook “Tubuhku Berharga” is valid as a supporting tool in teaching sexuality matters to preschoolers. We suggested constructing other visual media with other topics in sexuality health, such as reproduction and body image that are age-suitable for preschoolers.

Abstract

Background: The cyanide coffee case resurfaces public attention after the release of the documentary film “Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee and Jessica Wongso” by Netflix. The famous Indonesian podcaster, Deddy Corbuzier, raises this issue in his content. This leads to reactions and debate among netizens. Netizens expressed their opinions through the comments column on Deddy Corbuzier’s YouTube account. Purpose: This research aimed to explore the diversity of netizens’ comments on Deddy Corbuzier’s YouTube podcast videos through thematic analysis. Methods: This research used a qualitative approach with an interpretive research type. The data analysis technique used was Virginia and Clarke’s thematic analysis. This research discussed Quiring and Schweiger’s interactivity and Robert Plutchik’s theory of emotion. Results: The research results describe netizens’ responses to Deddy Corbuzier’s YouTube video on the issue of suspect Jessica for the murder of Mirna. The results were divided into two: initial thematic and final thematic. Conclusion: The findings on the final theme were grouped into four sub-themes, divided into two categories for Jessica’s innocence by misunderstanding the judge’s decision and supporting the reopening of the case. The second category is guilty based on netizens’ perceptions of Jessica’s supporters and agreeing with the judge’s decision. Implications: This research examines messages and interactions among netizens towards Jessica from the influence of the Documentary Film “Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee and Jessica Wongso” by Netflix on Deddy Corbuzier’s podcast. It reflects the perspectives and preferences in society towards the film.

Abstract

Janus Coffee & Roastery is a coffee roastery located in Batu City Square and has been established since 2018. The background for this research is that Janus has not focused too much on designing packaging designs, on the other hand, packaging design has strong potential in efforts to increase product brand awareness. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to design packaging design for Janus Coffee & Roastery in an effort to increase brand awareness. This design uses a qualitative and descriptive approach. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and literature study were analyzed using the SWOT and USP methods. The results of this creative design are packaging illustrations, brand colors, brand patterns, and typography. The end result of packaging design is applied to media such as coffee bags, drip bags, drip bag boxes, shopping bags, plastic bags, and coffee cups which are adjusted in terms of safety, ergonomics (comfort), and experience (experience).
