Abstract

Abstract

Thomson's atom is a solid ball or billiard ball with a positive charge that contains several negatively charged particles or electrons. These electrons will be spread on the ball like raisins on bread. The main difference between Thomson's and Rutherford's atomic models is that Thomson's model does not contain information about the atomic nucleus, while Rutherford's model does. The theory of atomic structure helps scientists understand why elements behave in certain ways in chemical reactions. For example, electron configuration determines how elements bond and form compounds. In this paper, a literature review was conducted on the development of Thomson's atomic structure model. The study method was carried out to identify elements based on their atomic number, determine their reactivity based on the number of valence electrons, and understand how atoms unite to form molecules through chemical bonds. The results of the study, by studying atomic theory, can find out about the chemical and physical properties, as well as the uses of particles or substances that exist around the universe.

Abstract

One of the products offered by sharia banks is financing. In this financing, Islamic banks usually take profits in the form of margin or it can also be done by profit sharing. The base profit rate model was introduced to determine margins in Islamic bank financing. The margin generated using the base profit rate model is only in the form of a percentage. Therefore, follow-up was carried out by forming a sharia financing installment table to make it easier to see profits in nominal form. The methods used in making this installment table are the proportional method, annuity method and effective rate method. From research conducted in the case of sharia motor vehicle financing with a term of 1 year, a margin of 66.61785% was obtained and the profit based on the calculation results of the proportional method, annuity method and effective rate method was respectively IDR. 9,992,677.20,- , Rp. 5,945,097.50,-, and Rp. 5,412,700.31. So it can be concluded that the effective rate method takes the smallest profits, then followed by the annuity method and finally the proportional method which takes profits that tend to be larger.

Abstract

Diversification is a method used to reduce risks by allocating several financial, industrial, and other instruments. Investors might need to use this method to allocate their companies’ funding as efficient as they should be. Mean variance portfolio is a diversification theory designated for investors who are aware of potential risks. On the other hand, multi-objective portfolio optimization is another theory that suits for investors who are more unaware, or choose to neglect potential business risks. Multi-objective optimization can boost source of income and minimize the risks while utilizing k weighting coefficient as risk aversion index. This research aims to form an optimal portfolio from each perspective of selected investors using multi-objective optimization, as well as to analyze the benefits and risks that the investors will have. Samples used in this research are sharia stocks actively involved in Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) and non-sharia stocks which are actively involved in LQ-45 from January 2013 to January 2018.

Abstract

Excessive sugar consumption has been linked to an increased risk of kidney failure, prompting research into alternative sweeteners. This literature study investigates the potential of Stevia leaves (Stevia rebaudiana) as a sugar substitute in reducing the risk of kidney failure. A comprehensive review of studies published between 2013 and 2023 was conducted using databases such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The analysis revealed that high sugar intake, particularly from sweetened beverages, is associated with a higher risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Stevia, a zero-calorie sweetener, demonstrated promising results in weight management and glycemic control, both crucial factors in kidney health. Several studies reported improvements in kidney function markers, including serum creatinine and microalbumin levels, in CKD patients supplemented with Stevia. Additionally, Stevia's antioxidant properties may protect kidney tissues from oxidative stress. While the findings suggest Stevia's potential as a beneficial sugar substitute for kidney health, limitations in current research, including short study durations and unclear mechanisms of action, highlight the need for more comprehensive, long-term studies. This review concludes that Stevia shows promise as a tool in the prevention and management of kidney diseases, but further research is needed to fully understand its role and optimize its use in dietary interventions for kidney health.
