Abstract

Currently, environmental degradation caused by heavy metals has become a serious concern of many countries. To monitor the concentration of heavy metals in the environment, an in-situ sensor that can measure in real time and has high quality, sensitivity, and flexibility is essential. We proposed a modified multipath ring resonator (MPRR) based on silicon-on-insulator technology with additional gold nanodisk (GND) on top of the ring to increase its sensitivity. To prove the effect of GND on the sensitivity of the modified MPRR, finite-difference time-domain simulations were conducted. Results showed that the average sensitivity of the modified MPRR was 675 nm/RIU, where RIU corresponds to the refractive index unit, higher than that of the unmodified MPRR (171 nm/RIU). Moreover, compared with the single ring structure, the proposed design had better sensitivity. We believe that our proposed approach for the modification of MPRR is suitable for application to optical sensor development.

Abstract

Gang Lumumba, located in Ngagel Rejo, Surabaya, is known for its socially negative environment characterized by deviant behaviors such as alcohol abuse, gambling, and a lack of attention to children's education. The Pandawa Learning House Community, established in 2009, aims to transform these conditions by providing formal and moral education for children. This study seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of the community in mitigating social pathology. Using a qualitative approach, the methods employed include interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal positive impacts, including increased community awareness of the importance of education, behavioral changes in children, and strengthened social bonds. Although initially met with resistance, the community has gained support from local residents and collaborates with various stakeholders, such as university students and local organizations. This study aligns with Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory, which emphasizes how individual-environment interactions influence social development. The research highlights the significance of community initiatives in driving social change within marginalized areas

Abstract

Abstrak: Pendidikan di Indonesia dihadapkan pada permasalahan pendidikan yang kompleks. Mulai dari permasalahan kurikulum hingga hasil pendidikan. Realita yang ada Adab perserta didik terhadap guru sangatlah kurang, guru diposisikan sebagai pegawai, yang lebih parah lagi diposisikan sebagai pembantu karena strata ekonomi guru jauh lebih rendah dari orangtua peserta didik, tidak ada sopan santun dan sikap memuliakan guru sebagaimana bentuk memuliakan ilmu yang dimiliki. Hal ini banyak dijumpai di sekolah-sekolah Indonesia. Banyaknya keluhan orangtua sebab adab peserta didik, sangat susah diatur serta diingatkan, hingga orangtua merasa tidak mampu lagi dalam mendidik putra-putrinya dan mengambil langkah sepunuhnya diserahkan kepada lembaga pendidikan. Maraknya siswa dan santri mengidolakan tokoh fiktif dan artis korea, yang mana notabenenya adalah orang-orang kafir. Lembaga pendidikan yang memperhatikan pendidikan adab adalah Kuttab Al-Fatih Sidoarjo. Lembaga ini setingkat pendidikan Sekolah Dasar (SD), dengan usia belajar peserta didik lima - dua belas tahun. Kuttab dalam pembelajarannya mengedepankan pendidikan adab. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui dan mendiskripsikan implementasi pendidikan adab di Kuttab Al Fatih Sidoarjo. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian lapangan. Metode pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Metode Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif-analitis, melalui proses induksi-interprtetasi-konseptualisasi. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : implemantasi dari pendidikan adab berlangung sesuai dengan rencana yang telah ditetapkan, yaitu dengan pembekalan keilmuan, teladan dan pembiasaan. Para santri sangat berbaikti kepada orang tua, gurunya dan cinta serta mengidolkan Rasulullah, ummul mukminin serta sahabat dan sahabiyah. Setiap kalimat yang santri ucapkan selalu memilik unsur keimanan yang sempurna.

Abstract

This study aims to theoretically examine the power relations between school principals and teachers within the framework of implementing performance-based education policies. A qualitative approach was adopted, with a literature review serving as the primary research method. Power relations in educational institutions are inherently shaped by the hierarchical structure of school organizations, where principals hold decision-making authority while teachers act as policy implementers. Drawing on key sociological theories of education, such as Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of social reproduction and Michel Foucault’s concept of power relations, the study reveals that performance-based education policies tend to reinforce unequal power structures. Teachers are frequently positioned as passive recipients of top-down policies, with little involvement in the decision-making process. This lack of participation has significant implications, particularly in diminishing teachers’ professional autonomy in classroom practices. Consequently, the study recommends adopting more democratic and participatory policy-making approaches in schools to promote more balanced and equitable working relationships between principals and teachers. Such an approach is expected to improve not only school governance but also the overall effectiveness of educational outcomes.

Abstract

Important developments related to the recent history of social theories, including the soci- ology of education, are revolutions that take place in linguistics and lead to the search for structures that underlie language. Structuralism, as the name of the revolution, later influenced various fields of social science, such as the anthropology of Levi-Strauss and Marxian theory, Structural Marxism. The most important post-structuralist is Michel Fou- cault. The latest theory derived from semiotics, structuralism, and post-structuralism is the actor-network theory, seeing social processes and human actors as entities whose characteristics are born from circulation through a network of relations. In Islamic educa- tion, the study of the structure of language becomes very important, because language is a communication tool of the education and learning process, besides that it is also a publication for the development of education to the wider community.

Abstract

Religious harmony in Indonesia has become an important issue amid ongoing social dynamics. Based on Jorge Gracia’s hermeneutic approach, this study examines the phenomenon of Kristen Muhammadiyah (Krismuha)—harmonious interactions between Christian and Muhammadiyah communities in Muhammadiyah educational environments in non-Muslim-majority areas. The method used is descriptive-qualitative with text analysis techniques applied to the work Kristen Muhammadiyah by Abdul Mu’ti and Fajar Riza Ul Haq. The study results indicate that interactions between Muhammadiyah and the Christian community in the field of education occur without theological coercion but are based on sociological relationships that uphold openness, comfort, and respect for each other’s identities. These findings affirm that the inclusive pluralism model promoted by Muhammadiyah is capable of building interfaith trust through education. Gracia’s hermeneutic approach demonstrates a balance between the interpretation of normative Islamic texts and the pluralistic social context faced by Muhammadiyah. The Krismuha phenomenon contributes to interfaith diplomacy at the grassroots level, strengthening social cohesion and enriching Indonesia’s living laboratory of pluralism. This study recommends the development of similar models to expand the scope of interfaith harmony in Indonesia.

Abstract

Pembangunan perumahan telah menjadi fenomena signifikan di era urbanisasi yang pesat, yang membawa berbagai konsekuensi sosial dan ekonomi bagi masyarakat. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dampak pembangunan perumahan terhadap kondisi sosial dan ekonomi masyarakat dengan menggunakan pendekatan Systematic Literature Review. Metode yang digunakan melibatkan analisis terhadap lima belas artikel ilmiah yang dipilih dari 30 publikasi relevan yang diterbitkan antara tahun 2013 hingga 2024. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembangunan perumahan menghasilkan dampak sosial berupa pergeseran pola interaksi masyarakat, transformasi nilai dan pola pikir, perubahan peran tokoh masyarakat, serta perubahan komposisi penduduk. Secara ekonomi, dampaknya meliputi peralihan mata pencaharian dari sektor pertanian ke perdagangan dan jasa, peningkatan kesempatan kerja, naiknya nilai lahan, serta munculnya gaya hidup yang lebih konsumtif. Studi ini menyoroti sifat ganda dampak beberapa wilayah memperoleh manfaat berupa kohesi sosial dan kemakmuran ekonomi yang meningkat, sementara wilayah lain menghadapi ketimpangan sosial dan meningkatnya individualisme dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Studi ini menekankan pentingnya pembangunan perumahan yang integratif dan inklusif demi keadilan dan keberlanjutan sosial.

Abstract

One of the most valuable assets owned by a company organization is human resources which are the main issue in the success of achieving a company's goals as employees as measured by career development and performance motivation. The aim of this research is to determine the importance of the work environment on career development and employee performance motivation. Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital telah merevolusi akses dan distribusi pengetahuan, sehingga memicu perubahan signifikan dalam relasi kekuasaan di masyarakat perkotaan. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana digitalisasi memengaruhi struktur sosial, legitimasi, dan partisipasi warga di Surabaya, dengan menggunakan pendekatan sosiologis berbasis teori transformasi sosial. Metode penelitian bersifat kualitatif dengan studi kasus dan analisis literatur, difokuskan pada interaksi antara aktor sosial, teknologi, dan struktur sosial lokal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa digitalisasi menciptakan pola kekuasaan yang lebih heterarkis dan multidimensional, di mana individu atau kelompok yang mampu memanfaatkan teknologi digital memperoleh pengaruh baru, sementara akses pengetahuan menjadi lebih demokratis. Fenomena ini juga memperlihatkan adanya kesenjangan digital, di mana wilayah pinggiran kota dan kelompok dengan literasi digital rendah menghadapi keterbatasan dalam partisipasi sosial dan ekonomi. Selain itu, penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya penguatan literasi digital, pengembangan infrastruktur teknologi, dan platform partisipatif untuk memastikan inklusivitas dan kualitas distribusi pengetahuan. Implikasi teoritis penelitian ini menegaskan relevansi teori transformasi sosial dalam memahami interaksi kompleks antara teknologi, aktor sosial, dan struktur masyarakat, sementara implikasi praktisnya memberikan rekomendasi bagi pemerintah, institusi pendidikan, dan komunitas lokal dalam mengelola masyarakat digital. Temuan ini diharapkan memperkaya literatur sosiologi perubahan sosial sekaligus memberikan arahan strategis bagi pengembangan masyarakat digital yang inklusif di Surabaya
