Abstract

ABSTRACTAs a common properti, fisheries management in swamps need to be made to provides economic benefits for the parties on the one side (especially the community), and the sustainability of the ecosystem itself on the other side. Current conditions need to be obtained to formulate swamp resource management in a sustainable manner by reducing fishing activities with aquaculture activities. Aquaculture, besides providing greater income, can also control fishing activities and reduce pressure on the swamp ecosystem. The study was conducted in Rawa Deling, Deling Village, Pangkalan Lampam Sub-District, OKI District. Water quality measurements are carried out for 5 months, from March 2018 to July 2018 in 4 stations with differences depth and vegetation. Water quality analysis is carried out to get an overview of the swamp condition. Water quality data will determine the feasibility and treatment needed for aquaculture. The results of water quality measurements showed that temperature parameter values ranging from 28.1 - 32.2 oC, depths of 0.7 - 5 m, brightness of 20 - 50 cm, TDS 17 - 35 mgL-1, pH 4.1 - 5, DO 1 , 7 - 4.1 mgL-1, phosphate <0.060 - <0.090 mgL-1, total nitrogen 12.50 - 38.90 mgL-1, ammonia 0.68 - 0.93 mgL-1. Abstract

The ability of climbing perch, Anabas testudineus (Bloch, 1792) to grow effectively can be done for a sex reversal using natural steroids active ingredient which are derived from cow’s milk through immersion of the fish larvae. This research aims to increase the ratio of the female sex, survival, and growth of the larvae of climbing perch. The research material is a juvenile of 7 days old which is gained from induce breeding methods. The research was conducted at a hatchery. Sex ratio was observed in biology laboratory and water quality was observed in chemical laboratory of the University of Muhammadiyah Palembang from March to May 2016. Post-larva was immersed with three media for the treatment i.e. cow’s milk (P1), soya milk (P2) and the mix (P3). The immersion was done by 10 hours; used 2 ml L-1 dozed on each part and 50 post-larva were immersed on jar sized 10 liters. After immersing the post-larva was reared during 60 days in aquarium sized 30x30x30 cm3 for observation of sex ratio and growth. Sampling method used is a random sampling. The post-larva and water were observed every 10 days with 40% material sample of post-larva. The result showed that best grow is in P1 (61.11%). The length growth is 3.77 cm, biomass growth is 1.69 g, and produce sex ratio of female is 77.78%. Abstract

The high price of toman fish (Channa micropeltes Cuvier.) in the market is one of the reasons for the need for toman fish farming activities.  However, the expensive price of commercial feed causes the cost of cultivation to be high.  Effective and efficient feeding can reduce feed costs.  Satisfaction is done so that the stomach is emptied in an uncharacteristic time, so it is expected to increase the appetite of Toman Fish.  This study aims to determine the effect of grazing time on the growth of toman fish. This research was conducted in the Wet Fisheries Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Muhamadiyah University of Palembang.  From September to November 2021.   The research method used is an experimental trial with a Non-Factorial Complete Randomised Design. Treatment factors include P1 (No gratification/control), P2 (1 day fasting 4 days fed), P3 (1 day fasting 3 days fed), P4 (1 day fasting 2 days fed), and P5 (1 day fasting 1 day fed). The changes observed were weight growth, length growth, and survival rate (SR).  The treatment of 1-day of fasting and 1 day fed to toman fish (Channa micropeltes Cuvier.) is the best treatment for length growth (3.35 cm), weight (11.06 grams), and survival (89%).

Abstract

Abstract: The most considerable production cost in fish farming activities is feed. Every year, fish feed prices increase, which is especially felt by the baung fish farming group, Village-owned enterprise (BumDes) Teratai Indah, Bangsal Village, Pampangan District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province. A potential alternative feed that could be used is a maggot, and when given to baung fish post-juvenile, it needs processing into flour to be adequately consumed according to the size of the fish's mouth. Therefore, the Aquaculture Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Palembang, conducted training on the manufacture of maggot flour as a maggot derivative product with potential economic value. This community service program aims to optimize baung fish farming activities by producing alternative feed for baung post-juvenile and making variant products from maggot at BumDes Teratai Indah. This activity program is divided into four movements: exploring participants' knowledge about maggot and maggot flour, socialization of maggot cultivation materials and techniques for making maggot flour, and applying maggot for baung fish cultivation, and evaluation of the implementation of activities. The product obtained from this activity is maggot flour, an alternative feed, as a derivative product with a potential economic selling value and can reduce the production cost of baung fish farming in the Teratai Indah BumDes Ogan Komering Ilir Regency.
