Abstract

Rhodamine B is a synthetic dye used for colouring of paper, textiles and inks. Rhodamine B is able to cause an irritation of the respiratory tract, liver damage and as a carcinogenic substance. The use of dyes aims to obtain more attractive colour. This study aims to identify the rhodamine B on lipsticks in the market in Palu City. The dye was determined using thin layer chromatography (TLC) through qualitative and quantitative tests. The results showed that all lipstick samples were negative containing rhodamine B. Based on qualitative test by TLC did not found similar Rf 0.72 cm confirming the reference solution for rhodamine B, where the value of Rf on consecutive samples were 1A code samples obtained value Rf = 0.58 cm, the sample code 2A obtained value Rf = 0.46 cm, the sample code 3A Rf value = 0.68 cm, the sample code 4A obtained Rf = 0.65 cm, code samples obtained 1B Rf = 0.49 cm, and the sample code 2B obtained value Rf = 0.50 cm. Based on this study it can be concluded that all 6 lipstick samples tested did not contain rhodamine B.

Abstract

Students in the learning required to take an active role in the learning process . But in fact, there are still many conventional learning that found. This can have an impact on student learning outcomes. Therefore we need an appropriate learning modes and appropriate. One of the learning model that allows students to play an active role in learning is a model guided note taking. This study aims to determine the effect of application of learning models guided note taking on learning outcomes of students of class XI Science SMAN 2 Pasangkau school year 2013/2014. The research sample that is class XI IPA 2 as the class experiment with the number of students 25 people and XI IPA 1 as a control class with the number of students was 27 people. The data was collected using achievement test instruments. Testing research data using t-test statistical analysis of the parties to the prerequisite test was a test for normality and homogeneity tests. Average score of student learning outcomes using the guided note taking learning model was 66.14 while the average score of student learning outcomes that follow the conventional learning 52.5. Based on the analysis of statistical hypothesis t-test with the values obtained by the tcounted = 3.693 and ttable = 1.67. So, tcounted> ttable showing that Ho refused and H1 accepted. It can be concluded that the guided note taking learning model gives higher learning outcomes than conventional learning models.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of self-direct learning based on information technology toward learning outcomes of students in the structure of atoms material in class X SMA 9 Palu. The population in this study was students of class X academic year 2016/2017. The samples were students (n=26) in the class XA as an experimental class (learning by direct self learning) and students (n=25) in class XC as the control class (learning by the conventional method).The data collection was done using an instrument of test results of studying chemistry at the structure of atoms material is valid. The data testing were using t-test statistical analysis of the two parties with the prerequisite test, the normality and homogeneity test. The data analysis results obtained that an average score of the experimental class = 71.04 and for the control class gained an average = 64.80. Based on the statistical hypothesis testing of test two parties obtained that value tcalculation= 6,50and ttable= 2,00ata = 0,05. In this case, H1was accepted and H0 was rejected because tcalculation was in the rejection area of H0.This shows that there was an effect on differences in learning outcomes of students that were taught by self-direct learning and by the conventional method in the structure of atoms material in class X SMA 9 Palu.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine flavonoids levels contained in each of jatropha plant samples to be used as an alternative affordable free radicals deterrent. The flavonoid content was analyzed using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Stem of the three samples was extracted using HCl. The results showed that total flavonoids levels contained in each stem of Jatropha curcas L., Jatropha gossypifolia L., and Ricinus communis L. were 3.959 mg/L, 1.309 mg/L, and 0.083 mg/L, respectively.

Abstract

Patikan kebo (euphorbia hirta L.) is a plant commonly found in the tropical regions. The objectiveof this research was to determine the antioxidant activity of Patikan kebo leaves extract and tocategorize the strength of the extract in blocking free radicals. This research was conducted by laboratoryexperiment using maceration extraction techniques. Antioxidant activity of the extract was tested using1,1-diphenyl-2-pikrilhidrazil (DPPH). Variation concentrations of the used of Patikan kebo leavesextract and vitamin c as a positive control used for analysis were of 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm, and 80ppm. Analysis of the sample was conducted using spectronic UV-Vis. The result showed that Patikankebo leaves extract was a very strong antioxidant. It was proved by the number of IC50 less then 50. Thecalculation of IC50 of patikan kebo leaves extract was 11.50 mg/L.

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain description in application the cooperative learning model type scramble on student’s learning outcomes in hydrocarbon material in class X SMAN 8 Palu. This type of research was quasi-experimental research. This study was conducted at two group, 27 students in class XB as an experimental group and 28 students in class XA as a control group. The testing of student’s learning outcomes data used the statistical analysis t-test of the two parties with the prerequisite test: normality test and homogeneity test. The results of the data analysis, it was obtained the average values of students in experiment class () was 72.40 with a standard deviation of 11.86 and students in control class () was 67 with a standard deviation of 12.03. Based on the results of testing hypotheses by statistical t-test two parties, it was obtained –ttable­<tcalculation> +ttable (tcalculation=2.37 and ttable=1.67)  with a significance level α = 0.05 and degrees of freedom 53, then H0 was rejected and ha was accepted. It can be concluded that there is the effect of applying the cooperative learning model type scramble toward student’s learning outcomes in the hydrocarbon material in class X SMA 8 Palu.

Abstract

Research on the use of aloe vera gel (aloe vera) as a natural coagulant in water purification village wells Sausu Tambu has been done. This study aims to determine whether aloe vera gel can be used as a natural coagulant and determine the optimum ratio of aloe vera gel in water (V/V) which is used in the purification of water wells in the village Sausu Tambu. Research was conducted on the water sample preparation, natural production of aloe vera gel, water treatment and analysis of water quality parameters, namely turbidity, hardness, color, pH and temperature. The results showed that aloe vera gel can be used as a coagulant to purify the water with an optimum ratio of 0.3 mL aloe vera gel in 500 mL water sample. Aloe vera gel can reduce 72.22% of turbidity, 63.48% hardness, 68.62% color with a pH of 5.5 and a temperature of 30 oC. It can be concluded that the aloe vera gel has the ability as a coagulant to purify water.

Abstract

Research on the antioxidant activity test has been done on red fruit (pandanus baccari L) from Poso area Central Sulawesi. This research was conducted by laboratory experiments using maceration extraction techniques, DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-pikrilhidrazil) as free radicals, vitamin C as positive control, UV-Vis spectronic as a tool for antioxidant test, and red fruit extracts as samples. The aim of this research was to determine antioxidant strength of red fruit extracts. The red fruit sample was used as much as 30 grams, and the solvent was an absolute ethanol, whereas variations in the concentration of red fruit extracts used were 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm, and 80 ppm. Antioxidant activity test was done by using a UV-Vis spectronic and IC50. The results showed that the red fruit extracts had strong antioxidant activity with the percentage of optimum activity in inhibiting free radical by 81.02%, and the IC50 value was 14.454 ppm.

Abstract

Salak is a inclusive of into erudite tribe Moraceae name is a salacca zalacca in English named is a snake fruit and one of fruit type which is at most planted in the tropics. One of potency from of salak which improper consume that is exploited permanent upon which making ethanol, where glucose can be exploited as ethanol, because in it contain elements of carbon,hydrogen and oxygen. which is do not consume that is damage storey level 90. The purpose of this research is to cultivate salak which improper consume as raw material for making etanol by fermentation process and to determine the level of ethanol produced from salak which improper consume. In this research yeast fermentation is used with tape, NPK fertilizer and urea fertilizer. Starter used by 20 mL each of three erlenmeyer. The starter and then fermented for 5, 8, 11 and 14 days ago on distillation. After the distillation was measured levels of ethanol, the reaction with Na metal, solubility in water, density measuremen and measure pH ethanol. Then the analysis show a 5 day fermentation obtained 13.8%, ethanol content weight of 0.991 g/mL and pH 5.02. Fermentation for 8 days derived ethanol content of 10.79%, density 0.989 g/mL and pH 4.21. Fermentation for 11 days gained ethanol content 6%, weight of 0.982 g/mL and pH 3.04. And fermentation obtained 2.20%, density 1.002 g/ml and pH 2.25.

Abstract

Permasalahan  utama dalam Penelitian  ini adalah: rendahnya hasil belajar siswa kelas V SDN Mimbala Kecamatan Dampal selatan Kabupaten Tolitoli pada pokok bahasan proses pencernaan (mata pelajaran IPA). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatan hasil belajar siswa kelas V SDN Mimbala melalui penerapan pembelajaran Quantum Teaching tentang pokok bahasan proses pencernaan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dua siklus, dan setiap siklus terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi dan refleksi dengan jumlah siswa 25 orang,  terdiri dari 19 orang siswa laki-laki dan 6 orang siswa perempuan.  Hasil evaluasi akhir siklus I diperoleh nilai rata-rata 68,6 dengan ketuntasan belajar klasikal sebesar 48% hasil observasi rata-rata kegiatan guru 61,66% dan rata-rata persentase aktifitas siswa 54,99 %. Hasil evaluasi akhir siklus II diperoleh  nilai rata-rata 78,6 dengan ketuntasan belajar klasikal sebesar 96%, hasil  observasi aktifitas guru 92,5% dan hasil observasi aktifitas siswa 92,5%. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran Quantum Teaching meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA materi proses pencernaan Kata Kunci: Penerapan Pembelajaran Quantum Teaching, Hasil Belajar
