Abstract

Background: falls is one of the major problems that often occur in the elderly population. It caused the decrease of balance in elderly. Purpose: to prove addition perturbation training on core stability exercise better than core stability exercise to improve balance in elderly. Method: This research is an experiment research design with pre and post test control group design. These samples included 22 people who were divided into two groups. Group 1 has given perturbation training and core stability exercise, while Group 2 has given core stability exercise. Measurement of balance measured using a Berg balance scale. Result: Paired t-test at Group 1 and Group 2 showed value p=0.001 (p<0.025), this results showed a significant balance increase in each groups. Then independent sample t-test between Group 1 and Group 2 showed value of p=0.015 (p<0.025). It results showed significant difference between Group 1 and Group 2. Conclusion: additional perturbation training on core stability exercise better than core stability exercise to improve balance in elderly.

Abstract

Myofascial pain syndrome yang terjadi pada otot upper trapezius menyebabkan keterbatasan lingkup gerak sendi leher. Tujuan penelitian untuk membuktikan perbedaan antara intervensi muscle energy technique dan infrared dengan positional release technique dan infrared terhadap penurunan nyeri myofascial pain syndrome otot upper trapezius yang diukur dengan Visual analogue Scale (VAS). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan pre dan post test control group design. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 20 orang dan dibagi ke dalam dua kelompok. Kelompok 1 diberikan muscle energy technique dan infrared dan Kelompok 2 diberikan positional release technique dan infrared. Uji hipotesis dengan paired sample t-test didapatkan hasil p=0,000 dengan beda rerata 1,920±0,607 pada Kelompok 1, sedangkan pada Kelompok 2 didapatkan hasil p=0.000 dengan beda rerata 1,810±0,491. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan adanya penurunan nyeri yang bermakna pada setiap kelompok. Uji perbandingan dengan independent sample t-test didapatkan beda selisih p=0,527 (p>0,05). Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik, dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa intervensi muscle energy technique dan infrared sama baik dengan positional release technique dan infrared terhadap penurunan nyeri myofascial pain syndrome otot upper trapezius.

Abstract

Permasalahan stunting masih menjadi perhatian serius, dengan prevalensi mencapai 22,5% pada balita, menunjukkan adanya keterlambatan pertumbuhan yang memengaruhi perkembangan anak. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi dan meningkatkan kesadaran orang tua tentang peran penting mereka dalam optimalisasi tumbuh kembang anak, serta mengurangi keterlambatan perkembangan melalui sosialisasi, pemeriksaan, dan pelatihan. Pengabdian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan desain survei, melibatkan 88 anak usia 0-48 bulan sebagai subjek. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan Kuisioner Pra Skrining Perkembangan (KPSP), yang valid dan reliabel, serta dilengkapi dengan wawancara dan observasi langsung. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk mengkategorikan perkembangan anak ke dalam kelompok sesuai tahap perkembangan, meragukan, dan kemungkinan penyimpangan. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan 77,3% anak berkembang sesuai tahapannya, 22,7% meragukan, dan tidak ada yang menunjukkan penyimpangan. Simpulan dari pengabdian ini adalah bahwa kesadaran orang tua dalam memperhatikan tumbuh kembang anak cukup baik, terbukti dengan mayoritas anak berada dalam kategori perkembangan sesuai. Pelatihan yang diberikan kepada kader posyandu juga efektif dalam diterapkan di kegiatan posyandu dengan pendampingan berkelanjutan. Implikasi pengabdian ini adalah perlunya program sosialisasi dan pelatihan berkelanjutan untuk mendukung peran aktif orang tua dan kader posyandu dalam mendeteksi dan mencegah keterlambatan perkembangan anak.

Abstract

Skateboard memerlukan kekuatan otot untuk mempertahankan keseimbangan yang baik terutama kekuatan otot tungkai bawah. Kekuatan otot menghasilkan tegangan dan tenaga selama usaha maksimal baik secara dinamis maupun statis serta memiliki peran penting dalam meningkatkan keseimbangan statis dan keseimbangan dinamis. Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan Indeks Massa Tubuh dan panjang tungkai dengan keseimbangan dinamis pada pemain skateboard tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian Cross-Sectional. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah pengukuran tinggi dan berat badan untuk menentukan Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) dan pengukuran panjang tungkai menggunakan antropometri serta pengukuran keseimbangan dinamis menggunakan Y Balance Test. Data yang didapat kemudian dilakukan uji linearitas regresi dan uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment untuk uji hipotesisnya. Hasil uji linearitas penelitian ini terdapat suatu hubungan linier secara signifikan antara IMT dan Panjang Tungkai dengan Keseimbangan Dinamis. Hasil Uji Pearson, korelasi antara IMT dengan Keseimbangan Dinamis sebesar -0,068 menunjukkan hubungan keeratan sangat lemah dengan arah negatif, sedangkan korelasi Panjang Tungkai dengan Keseimbangan Dinamis sebesar 0,318 yang berarti hubungan keeratan lemah dengan arah positif. Simpulannya adalah jika terjadi penambahan pada IMT, maka keseimbangan dinamis akan menurun, sedangkan jika terjadi penambahan panjang tungkai maka keseimbangan dinamis akan meningkat.

Abstract

Knee osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition that affects balance and functional mobility of the knee joint. The application of dual-task exercise using a Bola bosu is expected to improve these impairments. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of dual-task exercise in improving balance and functional ability in patients with grade II knee osteoarthritis. Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 15 participants were selected using a consecutive sampling technique. Balance was measured using the Berg Balance Scale, while functional ability was assessed using the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) questionnaire. Results: The paired t-test showed a significant improvement in balance (p = 0.001) and functional ability (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Dual-task exercise effectively improves balance and functional ability in patients with grade II knee osteoarthritis. Implications: Dual-task exercise can be considered a therapeutic option for rehabilitation programs in patients with grade II knee osteoarthritis.

Abstract

Background: Flat foot is a common lower extremity deformity in children. Underdeveloped arches can lead to complaints such as fatigue during prolonged walking, impaired balance, frequent injuries, and pain. Several interventions can be employed to address these issues, including arch muscle strength exercises, toe curls exercises, calf stretches, and plantar fascia stretches. Purpose: This study aims to prove the effectiveness of a combination of heel raises exercise and vestibular stimulation versus a combination of heel raises exercise and perceptual motor program in increasing lower extremity muscle strength and standing balance in children with flat foot. Method: This research is a quasi-experimental study that utilized a pre-test and post-test two-group design with a purposive sampling method. A total of 30 subjects were put into 2 groups. Group 1 received a combination of heel raise exercises and vestibular stimulation. Group 2 received a combination of heel raise exercise and perceptual motor program. Lower extremity muscle strength was assessed using the Manual Muscle Test (MMT), and standing balance was evaluated using the Pediatric Balance Scale (PBS). Result: Both groups showed differences in the measurement aspects of MMT and PBS (p-value < 0.05). However, no significant difference was found between the groups in the MMT score. In contrast, a significant difference was observed in PBS scores, with Group 2 demonstrating greater improvement (p-value < 0.05). Conclusion: The combination of heel raises exercise and a perceptual motor program is more effective in improving balance in children with flat foot compared to the combination with vestibular stimulation.

Abstract

Background: Down syndrome is a condition of a genetic disorder caused by an abnormality of chromosome 21. Statistical data shows that the average incidence of Down syndrome worldwide is 1 in every 700 births. This incident will increase with the increasing age of pregnant women. This study aims to compare the addition of sensory motor training to shoulder stabilization exercise to further improve upper extremity strength and fine motor coordination in the Down syndrome population.  Methods: This research is an experimental study with blocked randomization. Group 1 (n=15) given the combination of sensorimotor exercises and shoulder stabilization exercise, while the Group 2 (n=15) were given shoulder stabilization exercise. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling. The intervention was given 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Measurements were carried out using the manual muscle test (MMT) and the manual abilities classification system (MACS). Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Test and the Mann–Whitney U test to compare differences between the two independent groups. Results: The MMT value was p=0.037 (p<0.05) and the MACS value was p=0.041 (p<0.05). These results indicate a significant difference between the two groups. Conclusion: Adding sensorimotor training in shoulder stabilization exercise intervention can improve upper extremity strength and fine motor coordination in down syndrome population. It is suggested to add sensorimotor training in down syndrome population.
