Abstract

Personality is considered one of the internal factors that have an impact on students’ ability in language learning. The present study investigated the impact of personality types on their ability in writing English. There are two types of personalities studied: Extrovert and Introvert. The research is quasi-experiment. Students at grade XI Vocational School 1 Sungai Penuh engage in the study, whereas only two classes selected as samples (experimental class and control class). Students were given a personality questionnaire to recognize their personality types. Then, the writing test carries out in each class in order to know the student's ability in writing. The data are analyzed by using t-test. The finding of hypotheses testing proves that the p-score is 0,00. Thus, the p-score is lower than 0,05 (0,00<0,05) which means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Hence, there is a significant impact on students’ personalities to their writing ability. Students with introvert personalities have better writing scores than students with extrovert personality.

Abstract

This study discusses the practicality test analysis of an innovative product of practicum learning media, namely the Electric drive training kit which is used in electric drive practice lesson for vocational education students, Industrial Electrical Engineering study program. This development is carried out because of the unavailability of practicum learning media that are in accordance with the characteristics of the material and oriented to industrial developments which resulted in the learning process being not optimal. The purpose of the study is to reveal the practicality level of using the Electric drive training kit as a practicum learning media by users, namely lecturers and students. The practicality level is analyzed based on data from lecturers' assessments and student assessments after using the product in the learning process through filling out the practicality assessment sheet. The data are analyzed using percentage analysis and interpreted using a practical interpretation table. Practicality assessment sheets with a Likert scale are used as data collection instruments. The results show that based on the responses of lecturers and students, this media was very practical to use as a practicum learning media in the  electric drive practice lesson. Thus, it can be concluded that the Electric drive training kit is very practical to use as a learning media to support the implementation of learning to be more optimal.

Abstract

This study discusses the analysis of the entrepreneurial interest of vocational education students in the field of electric lighting installations. Science competence in Electrical Lighting Installation Engineering owned by vocational education graduates can be one of the basic opportunities for entrepreneurship while still paying attention to the factors that influence it. The factors that influence entrepreneurial interest come from internal and internal factors. This study aims to reveal students’ entrepreneurial interest in Electrical Lighting Installation Engineering at State Vocational High School (SMKN) 1 West Sumatra in terms of internal and external factors. Quantitative research with a descriptive approach is applied to 37 students of class XI and XII, the competency of Electrical Lighting Installation Engineering as a research subject. The questionnaire was used as an instrument for collecting research data which was then processed using the SPSS application to obtain the percentage value of the respondents' achievement for interest in entrepreneurship. The results showed that when viewed from internal and external factors, the percentage of Respondents' Achievement Level (TCR) for entrepreneurial interest was in the high category, and if reviewed separately internal factors affecting entrepreneurial interest were in the high category, while external factors affecting student entrepreneurial interest were enough category. Thus, it can be concluded that the entrepreneurial interest of students in the Electrical Lighting Installation Engineering Skills competence is in the high category and internal factors are factors that have a high influence.

Abstract

This study discusses efforts to improve the implementation of remote learning that is not optimal through the development of Virtual Learning using the Problem-Based Learning Model for vocational education students in the learning process of Electrical Lighting Installation at Vocational High School (SMKN) 2 Lubuk Basung, Sumatera Barat Province. The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic demands a rapid change in the implementation of learning from face-to-face learning in the classroom to remote learning. This change requires innovations in implementing learning such as media and learning models to ensure optimal learning implementation even though it is carried out remotely. The 4-D development model (Four-D) is applied in this study as a research product development model consisting of 4 stages: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The instrument used for data collection in the study is a questionnaire for the validity and practicality assessment instrument. The results showed that the virtual learning developed using the Problem-Based Learning Model was valid to be applied in the learning process. After being tested in the learning process, the Virtual Learning developed has been practically used in the learning process to optimize the implementation of learning and improve student learning outcomes. It can be concluded that the Virtual Learning developed with the Problem-Based Learning Model is valid and practical to use in the learning process to optimize the implementation of electric lighting installation learning for vocational education students.

The data was gained from video recorder which recorded during English class. The finding indicated that there are some factors that cause the changes of classroom turn-taking IRF: (1) Most of Students lack of English comprehension. (2) Not all of students involve in classroom interaction, and (3) Teacher domination talk is still high. This study was expected to have contribution and overviewing for teachers to enhance the process of the turn-taking in class and to run IRF in a good way. Abstract

Abstract Based on observations of students in class V SD No. 137/III Koto Salak, teaching English is not a must, only as a local content and not all elementary schools make English as mulok. Some include Iqra' subjects, regional culture and skills as local content (mulok). So that there are educational institutions in elementary schools that provide English lessons but not a few do not. Even if given, the activities carried out are singing in English, not in the form of two-way conversations. For that, we need a forum that can provide alternative problem solving, namely the existence of free English learning activities, but not ignoring the quality of the results and the beauty of the process. In planning this media, the lecturer provides the media, then the media is used in teaching English vocabulary. The results of this service indicate that the use of Pictures Media is very helpful in the process of introducing vocabulary and the occurrence of real communication processes between teachers and students. Learning activities that seem to play make students not burdened with the material being taught, even students' motivation increases because of the reward hunting activity on the toys island. Keywords:  Vocabularies, Pictures Media, Elementary School, Learning
