Abstract

Abstract

This article aims to explain the construction of ecotheology from the perspective of contemporary interpreters based on comparison of contemporary interpretive texts. The creation of humans as caliphs on earth which has the meaning of being a substitute has experienced a shift in meaning in several contemporary interpretations. This theoretical study of environmental issues was studied using descriptive qualitative methods through interpretation results with plural dimensions. The data processing and analysis process is carried out using content analysis methods in thematic interpretation aspects related to environmental issues. A number of terms related to ecology in the Al-Qur'an show the relationship between human rights and environmental rights. Humans are ecologically part of the living environment, so the sustainability of human entities actually depends on environmental balance. The universe has a human right to be treated as well as possible as a life partner for humans to carry out their shared roles in serving God.

Abstract

The article explains the contestation and commodification of ideology in changing patterns of extremist movements in society. Ideological problems are studied using a political sociology approach to describe the relationship between Pancasila values and peaceful verses in Islam with the phenomenon of changing movement patterns of terrorist networks in Indonesia. This paper uses a qualitative method that explains the data descriptively so that the construction of the data is understood as the result of interpretations that have plural dimensions or depend on the analytical point of view. The primary sources for this research are documents related to the themes of Pancasila values and peaceful verses in the Koran and patterns of building immunity against extremism. The data processing process based on some documents was carried out using the content analysis method using the descriptive analysis method. Ideological identity in contestation in Indonesia is only one of the differentiation strategies to win public sympathy. Identity politics, which is often associated with radicalism and fighting between religious groups, is different from what happens in politics in other countries. The phenomenon of the life of the Nahdlatul Ulama and Shi'a community in Jepara, which tends to be peaceful and quick in resolving conflicts based on religious ideology, is at least influenced by awareness of the values of Pancasila as a common consensus.

Abstract

This article describes changes in the movement patterns of terrorist networks and anticipatory strategies carried out by the government through the synergy of civil society coalitions. The first act of terrorism that occurred since the Bali Bombing I in 2002, has experienced a transformation of the target objects and objectives of the struggle movement. The first generation of terror targeted actions as revenge against the government and citizens of the United States and coalition countries. The shift in the terror movement occurred after the birth of the Terrorism Law which made security forces the target of terror because they tended to be repressive and paid little attention to human rights in taking action. This paper uses a qualitative method that explains data using content analysis methods. The primary sources for this article are documents relating to the shifting patterns of terrorist movements in Indonesia as well as the synergistic activities of civil society in handling terrorism in Indonesia. An ethic of care that prioritizes empathy is the key to civil society synergy in reducing the potential for the development of violent extremism.

Abstract

This article describes changes in campaign patterns and the mobilization of political support through online media. This shift in campaign strategy presents an opportunity for competing political groups to be more innovative in their use of digital media tools. Political contestation necessitates the availability of alternative sources of information beyond mainstream media. The issue is that social media, which allows individuals to autonomously convey political views and calls to action, carries the risk of political vulnerability due to hate speech and misinformation. This paper employs a qualitative method that explains the data through content analysis based on Norman Fairclough’s model of Critical Discourse Analysis, which emphasizes text, practice, and socio-cultural analysis. The primary sources for this article are documents related to the evolving patterns of presidential election contestation in online media and activities interpreting political contestation. The results of the socio-cultural analysis reveal that the voting public in the presidential election tends to acquire knowledge of diversity through social media rather than through direct mobilization, which may contribute to increased tensions in Indonesia’s political contestation.

Abstract

Social media has become a strategic tool in political contests in Indonesia, particularly since the 2014 GeneralElection, the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election, and up to the 2024 national elections. This article analyzes the role ofsocial media as a means of political mobilization, framing construction, and discourse dissemination, including its impact on social polarization and political intolerance. This study employs a descriptive-critical qualitative approach, utilizing literature review and digital observation methods to explore the use of platforms such as Twitter (X), Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok during four major political events in Indonesia. The findings indicate that social media is not only effective in shaping political image (e.g., the rebranding of Prabowo Subianto through “gemoy” content), but also serves as a medium for spreading hoaxes, black campaigns, and the exploitation of identity-based issues (religion, ethnicity, and SARA—ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group relations). Digital buzzers and online volunteers play a pivotal role in influencing public opinion, through both positive and negative campaigning, which has the potential to trigger social conflict. The study further reveals how vertical andhorizontal mobilization strategies including religious, ethnic, and capital-based mobilization contribute to the fragmentation of society. In conclusion, although social media enhances political participation, its adverse effects such as polarization and intolerance must be addressed through stricter regulation of buzzers, civic political education, and risk mitigation by election organizers. These findings offer insight into the dynamics of digital democracy in Indonesia and its implications for social and political stability.
