Abstract

The quality of pakcoy plants in hydroponic cultivation is influenced by the planting medium and the growth regulators given to the leaves of pakcoy plants to get good plant results. The aim of the research was to examine the effect of modifying hydroton planting media by providing plant growth substances concentrations on plant growth and production. This research uses 3 x 4 Factorial Complately Random Design with 3 replications. The first factor for modification of hydroton planting media includes hydroton (M0), hydroton+cocopeat (M1), hydroton+charcoal husk (M2), the second factor PGR concentration includes o ml/liter (H0), 2 ml/liter (H1), 4 ml /liter (H2), 6ml/liter (H3). Data were analyzed using Range Analysis and tested further using DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) at the 5% level. The research results showed that there was an interaction effect between modified hydroton planting media and PGR concentration on leaf width and leaf area parameters. The hydroton planting media modification treatment had a significant effect on all parameters except root length.  Keywords : cocopeat, hidroton, modification, pakcoy

Abstract

This study was aimed to examine the effect of nitrogen-based fertilizers based on coffee grounds and types of planting media on the growth and yield of mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.). The research was carried out on October 03, 2021 – March 20, 2022, at the Green House and at the Ecology and Plant Production Laboratory, Faculty of Animal and Agricultual Sciences, Diponegoro University, Semarang. The factorial experiment with a 4 x 3 completely randomized design with 3 replication was used in the study. The first factor (P) consist of 4 levels of nitrogen dose based on coffee grounds organic fertilizer (CGOF) , namely P0 = control, P1 = 150 kg N/ha equivalent to 10,5 tons CGOF/ha, P2 = 170 kg N/ha equivalent to 11,9 tons CGOF/ha and P3 = 190 kg N/ha equivalent to 13,3 tons CGOF/ha. The second factor (M) consists of several kinds of planting media, namely M1 = soil, M2 = soil + husk charcoal (3:1) and M3 = soil + cocopeat (3:1). The recommended dose of nitrogen used in the study was 170 kg N/ha. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, plant dry weight, harvest index and root crown ratio. The data obtained were tested using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the results that significantly affected the observed parameters were then further tested using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the level 5%.Keywords: dose, nitrogen, coffee grounds, mustard greens.

Abstract

The growth and production of hydroponic water spinach using liquid organic fertilizer and appropriate planting media determines the success of the plant. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) substitution types and planting media on the growth of water spinach (Ipomoea reptans) production. Data collection was carried out in the month 23 Februaty – 30 March 2023 in Pudakpayung village, Banyumanik District, Semarang City. Treatments were arranged using a completely randomized design with 2 factors. Factor 1 is the planting medium in 2 level, M1 = Rockwool dan M2 = Cocopeat, and factor 2 is the substitution of liquid organic fertilizer in 4 levels, N1 = 4 ml/l AB mix, N2 = 3 ml/l AB mix + 2 ml/l POC, N3 = 2 ml/l AB mix + 3 ml/l POC, dan N4 = 4 ml/l POC. Each treatment was carried out in 3 repetitions so that there were 24 experimental units. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, root length, shoot fresh weight, root weight, biomass weight, and leaf color. The data was analyzed for variance and further tested using the honest real difference (BNJ) at the 5% level. The research results showed that the use of LOF of rice waste and papaya fruit could substitute AB mix at a concertation of 2 ml/l AB mix + 3 ml/l LOF or 50%. Abstract

Basil is a spice plant that is widely used as a culinary additive, fragrance, atractan, and anti-bacterial because it produces essential oils, basil oil. This research aimed to identifying the affect of adding rice husk ash on different basil’s cultivars on growth and yield of basil (Ocimum basilicum). This research use 4 x 2 factorial experiment pattern with Completely Randomized Design consisting of 5 replication. The first treatment was various type of basil’s cultivars such as Genovese cultivars (K1) and Dark Opal cultivars (K2). The second treatment was doses of rice husk ash such as control or without giving rice husk ash (M0), 30 g/pot (M1), 35 g/pot (M2), dan 40 g/pot (M3).  The observed parameters were soil bulk density and porosity, plant height, leaves total, roots length, and leaves simplisia. The results showed that the application of husk ash can affect the increase in physical properties of the soil, but has not directly affected the growth parameters and yield of leaf simplisia. Dark Opal cultivars on all growth parameters showed higher yields, but Genovese cultivars showed higher yields or simplisia.

Abstract

Lahan produktif yang semakin sempit mengakibatkan dikembangkannya pemanfaatan lahan gambut untuk pertanian, namun masalah yang perlu diperhatikan adalah rendahnya pH tanah sehingga ketersediaan unsur hara menjadi rendah pula. Aplikasi abu janjang kelapa sawit dapat meningkatkan pH tanah gambut dan varietas tanaman jagung manis yang baik dapat menunjukkan hasil pertumbuhan dan produktivitas yang optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dosis abu janjang kelapa sawit terbaik dan pengaruh varietas tanaman terhadap pertumbuhan dan produktivitas jagung di tanah gambut. Penelitian dimulai dari bulan Juni – Oktober 2022. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan percobaan Split Plot dengan rancangan dasar acak kelompok (RAK) dengan ulangan 3 kali. Petak utama terdiri dari V1: Bonanza, V2: Secada, dan V3: Sweet Boy. Anak petak terdiri dari P0: kontrol (tanpa amelioran), P1: 7,5 ton/ha (120 g/polybag), P2: 15 ton/ha (240 g/polybag), dan P3: 22,5 ton/ha (360 g/polybag). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa varietas tanaman jagung berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang tongkol. Dosis abu janjang kelapa sawit berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, panjang daun, panjang tongkol, bobot tongkol berkelobot, dan bobot tongkol tanpa kelobot. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah varietas Bonanza memberikan hasil panjang tongkol yang paling tinggi. Dosis abu janjang kelapa sawit 22,ton/ha memberikan pertumbuhan dan produktivitas tanaman jagung manis di tanah gambut lebih baik dibandingkan tanpa aplikasi.

Abstract

Evaluation of land suitability was carried out in Kasihan District to determine the land suitability class for food plants. This research was conducted to determine the limiting factors that resulted in a decrease in soil fertility in the local area. Land suitability classes were obtained in S3, and N classes with limiting factors for water availability (wa), erosion hazard (eh), root media (rc), and nutrient retention (nr). The limiting factors that are found in the study area are the erosion hazard, soil pH, and organic C levels. Improvement efforts as an agricultural area development that can be done are making bunds to reduce slopes, giving biochar to increase organic C levels, and reducing soil pH. The limiting factors of soil texture and depth cannot be repaired. Soil texture is a property of the soil that is influenced by nature and is very difficult to change, and the depth of the soil cannot be changed unless other agricultural commodities are selected.

Abstract

The research was aim at studying the effect of application of gypsum and manure to growth, biomass yield, dry matter yield, dry matter content and crude protein of Benggala grass. This study used factorial design with nine replications. The first factor was manure dosages i.e. 0 and 20 ton ha-1. The second factor was gypsum dosages i.e. 0, 0.75, 1.5 and 3 ton ha-1. Variables to observe were relative growth rate (RGR), biomass yield, dry matter yield, dry matter content and crude protein. The application of 20 ton manure and 3 ton gypsum per hectare resulted the highest values of  RGR, biomass yield, dry matter yield, dry matter content and crude protein; they were 0.86 g day-1, 1039.4 g pot-1, 219.1 g pot-1, 20.9% and 8.1%, respectively. Response of RGR, biomass yield, dry matter yield, dry matter content and crude protein to gypsum application with 20 ton manure  ha-1 were linier.  Keywords :  benggala grass,  saline soil, gypsum, manure, nitrogen.
