Abstract

Background: Gymnastics is a fundamental sport that supports physical fitness development and long-term athletic performance through complex physical demands such as strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and explosive power. However, its development as an achievement sport often receives limited structural and institutional support at the local level. Objectives: : This study aimed to analyze the perceptions of the sports community toward gymnastics achievements in Semarang City and to identify discrepancies between conceptual support and perceived developmental conditions. Methods: A quantitative descriptive survey design was employed involving 60 respondents from the sports community, including sport science students, physical education teachers, and sports practitioners. Data were collected using a validated and reliable closed-ended questionnaire measuring three perception indicators: acceptance, understanding, and appraisal of gymnastics as an achievement sport. Responses were assessed using a four-point Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics alongside validity and reliability testing. Results: Item-level analysis indicated positive perceptions, with mean scores ranging from 3.05 to 3.79, reflecting strong recognition of gymnastics’ value and potential. However, classification of total perception scores showed that 58.33% of respondents rated the current condition of gymnastics development as very poor. This contrast highlights a clear gap between conceptual appreciation and perceived realities, particularly regarding infrastructure availability, coaching quality, and competition opportunities. Conclusions: The sports community in Semarang City demonstrates strong conceptual support for gymnastics as an achievement sport, yet perceives substantial limitations in its practical development. Strengthening facilities, coaching systems, and competitive structures is essential to transform positive perceptions into sustainable athletic performance.

Abstract

This study examined the effect of variable distance and moving target training on football passing accuracy and compared it with conventional training. The study used an experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 16 football school players divided into an experimental group and a control group using the ordinal pairing technique. The experimental group received variable distance and moving target training, while the control group followed conventional training. Passing accuracy was measured using a football passing accuracy test based on the football skills test developed by Subagyo Irianto. Data were collected through pretest and posttest measurements. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired sample t tests, and independent sample t tests. The results show that variable distance and moving target training significantly improved passing accuracy with a t value of -9.029 and a significance value below 0.001. The analysis also shows a significant difference between the experimental and control groups with a t value of 3.870 and a significance value of 0.002. These results indicate that variable distance and moving target training are more effective than conventional training for improving football passing accuracy.

Abstract

The ongoing advancement of technology in the era of digitalization has brought about significant transformations in all domains, including media. Multiple mass media corporations are vying to transition from traditional to digital systems in order to maintain their ability to compete and survive in the face of the increasing convergence of media. Media businesses are required to ensure that there are repercussions for delivering news in both hard news and soft news formats promptly, accurately, and engagingly. The purpose of this study is to investigate and describe the existence and professionalism of Indonesian sports journalists in the digitalization and media convergence era. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach. The six journalists were requested to express their experiences and perspectives by means of an open-ended questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The gathered replies were subsequently examined utilizing the methodologies and instruments of Narrative analysis. In conclusion, sports journalists must be proficient in multimedia, able to swiftly adapt to new situations, have high moral standards, be able to interpret sports data, and be able to maintain their professionalism in the face of the challenges posed by the digital age and the convergence of media. Competitors will always find a way to beat out those lacking in soft skills and IT knowledge. Additionally, it is undeniable that sports writers cannot survive without engaging with audiences and sports fans via various internet platforms, including social media.

Abstract

The physical performance of Kabaddi players is not simply determined by physical skills, but also by their mental preparedness for dealing with competitive stress. Perhaps competitive anxiety is experienced prior to and/or during competition and interferes with focus and performance. On the other hand, psychological resilience is instrumental in enabling athletes to maintain focus, confidence and pressure regulation. there has been less such data available for this parameter on Kabaddi athletes. The present study intends to examine the relationship between mental toughness with competitive anxiety of Kabaddi athletes in Central Java Province. This study used a quantitative correlational design. The research sample consisted of 24 Kabaddi athletes in Central Java Province, selected using a total sampling technique. Two measurement instruments, the Sports Mental Toughness Questionnaire (SMTQ) and the Sports Competitive Anxiety Test(S CAT), were used to gather data. statistical analysis methods:tests for normality and linearity, t:ests I;or correlation based on the Pearson Product-Moment~ 1. The test of correlation results indicated that mental toughness was negatively and significantly related to competitive anxiety (r = –0.517; p = 0.010). This means that the higher the level of mental toughness, the lower the level of competitive anxiety experienced by athletes. The normality test also showed that both variables were normally distributed, and the linearity test results showed a linear relationship between the two. Mental toughness plays an important role in reducing competitive anxiety among Kabaddi athletes. Higher mental toughness helps athletes stay focused, calm, and confident in the face of competitive pressure. The results of this study can be used as a basis for coaches in designing psychological training programs to improve athlete performance.
