Abstract

Synthesis of C-hexyl calix[4]resorcinarene through condensation reaction between resorcinol and heptanal with HCl catalyst has been investigated. Synthesis conducted by the ratio of resorcinol: heptanal (1:1) using reflux for 6 hours in ethanol. Structural analysis of the product was done by FTIR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy, while the characterization was done by determining melting point. The product was golden brown powder with a yield 99.43% and melting point more than 300 °C. Structural analysis with FTIR and 1H-NMR known vibration and signals characteristic of calix[4]resorcinarena group,the vibrations of the CH bridge. Vibration of CH bridge appearance at wave number 1445 cm-1 and 1456 cm-1, while signal of CH bridge appearance at chemical shifts from 4.17 to 4.21 ppm.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian penentuan koefisien ekspansi termal (?) senyawa toluena pada berbagai suhu berbasis data frekuensi osilasi. Pengukuran frekuensi sebagai fungsi suhu dengan alat frekuensimeter menghasilkan data pita. Pengolahan data pita menggunakan analisis regresi metode kuadrat terkecil dan metode bobot. Hasil pengolahan data pita, besarnya koefisien ekspansi termal senyawa toluena pada tekanan 1 atm, suhu 30oC dengan metode kuadrat terkecil dan mempunyai % kesalahan sebesar 1,3% dan 4,4%.

Abstract

The synthesis of C-4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl calix[4]resorcinarene sulfonate using vanillin as a starting material has been done. The synthesis was carried out in two steps i.e. (1) acid-catalyzed cyclization resorcinol with vanillin and (2) sulfonation C-4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl calix[4]resorcinarene. Product were analyzed their structure with FTIR and1H NMR also characterized their melting point and solubility. The results showed that product have melting point more than 300 oC and more soluble in aquadest than organic solvents.

Abstract

Synthesis of adsorbent by crosslink and microencapsulation modification produce modified chitosan had been done. The product was used as adsorben for Remazol Yellow FG 6 dye. The adsorptivity test was carried out by comparing the ability of chitosan, crosslinked chitosan and mikroencapsulation of crosslinked chitosan to adsorbremazol yellow FG 6 dye at pH 11, 15 ppm of dye’s concentration, and at various contact times.The result shows that the crosslinked chitosan adsorbs Remazol Yellow FG 6 dye 3.99 times higher than the unmodified chitosan. Meanwhile, the microcapsules containing crosslinked chitosan adsorb Remazol Yellow FG 64.00 times higher than unmodified chitosan. The adsorption performance of each prepared material was determined from UV-Vis absorbance analysis. Although the adsorption performance of the microcapsules containing crosslinked chitosan is almost similar to the crosslinked chitosan, however the microcapsules have shorter optimum contact time and also more stable than the crosslinked chitosan. It shows that the modification of chitosan with crosslinking and microencapsulation process improve its adsorptivity and stability.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan karakterisasi kitosan hasil deasetilasi kitin cangkang kerang hijau (Mytilus viridis L). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menegtahui seberapa besar perolehan kitin hasil pemurnian cangkang hijau, dan perolehan kitosan hasil deasetilase kitin ,serta menentukan karakteristik kitosan yang dihasilkan.

Abstract

Microcapsules of chitosan gel beads crosslinked with Ethylene Glycol Diglycidyl Ether (PSF-EGDE-CTS) were prepared to improve adsorption capacity and mechanical stability of chitosan at acidic condition. These microcapsules were prepared through three step i.e. the formation of gel beads (CTS), crosslinked CTS with EGDE (EGDE-CTS) and microencapsulation of EGDE-CTS with Polysulfone (PSF-EGDE-CTS). Product characterizations were carried out using FTIR and SEM. The adsorptions were carried out by variation of pH and contact time in order to determine the optimum condition of adsorption. The yield of Microcapsules PSF-EGDE-CTS was 94,79 wt %. The optimum condition of Procion Red MX 8B dye adsorption by PSF-EGDE-CTS is at pH 5 and 24 hours of contact time. The adsorption capacity of PSF-EGDE-CTS is 40,69 mg/g.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan optimasi pH dan waktu kontak biosorpsi zat warna remazol yellow oleh biomassa rhyzopus oryzaeaktif dan terimmobilisasi. Biomassa Rhyzopus oryzae ditumbuhkan pada media cair Yeast Ekstrak Pepton Dekstrosa (YEPD). Biomassa diaktivasi dengan cara diberi NaOH 1 M, dipanaskan pada 121oC selama 15 menit lalu dikeringkan pada suhu 70oC selama 12 jam. Proses immobilisasi biomassa dilakukan dengan cara dicampur pada gel natrium silikat, kemudian dipanaskan pada suhu 60oC selama 12 jam. Zat warna Remazol Yellow diserap dari larutannya dengan variasi pH 7 – 13 dan variasi waktu kontak 10 – 100 menit. Konsentrasi zat warna Remazol Yellow yang diserap dianalisis dengan spektrofotometer Ultraviolet-Visibel (UV-VIS) sebagai selisih dari konsentrasi awal dan konsentrasi terukur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa daya serap biomassa aktif sebesar 2,623 mg/g pada kondisi pH 10- 11 dan waktu kontak optimum 30 menit, sedangkan daya serap biomassa terimmobilisasi sebesar 3,775 mg/g pada kondisi pH optimum 11 menit dan waktu kontak optimum 20 menit.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan reaksi adisi methanol terhadap ? -karioflena dengan menggunakan katalis asam lewis AlCl3. Hasil yang diharapkan dari reaksi ini adalah diperoleh senyawa ? -kariofilena yaitu ?-kariofilena metal eter yang bermanfaat dalam industri obat dan parfum.Reaksi adisi metanol tehadap ?-kariofilena dilakukan pada variasi suhu 27oC, 50oC dan 62,5oC serta variasi waktu refluks selam 2 jam, 4 jam dan 6 jam. Produk dominan yang dihasilkan dari reaksi ini berupa senyawa kariofilena metal eter. Hasil analisis dengan kromatografi gas menunjukkan bahwa produk kariofilena metil eter terbanyak pada suhu 62,5oC dalam waktu 6 jam yaitu sebesar 25,22%. Produk samping yang menarik untuk dianalisis adalah produk berupa kariofilena alkohol. Hail kromatografi kolom yang diikuti analisis dengan kromatografi gas dan spektrofotometer IR diperoleh dua produk kariofilena alkohol yang berebtuk cairan berwarna kuning bening dan Kristal berbentuk jarum yang berwarna putih. Struktur kariofilena alkohol belum dapat ditentukan karena keterbatasan dat-data yang ada.

Abstract

The synthesis of anethole-lauryl methacrylate (LMA) copolymer had been carried out by cationic polymerization using BF3O(C2H5)2 as the initiator without the use of solvent at room temperature (28-30 °C) over atmospheric N2 conditions. Polymerization was conducted by varying LMA concentration i.e. 2%, 4%, and 6%, (w/w) with respect to the anethole weight. Structural determination of co-poly(anethole-LMA) was done using FTIR and 1H-NMR spectrophotometer. The relative molecular weight (Mv) of co-poly (anethole-LMA) was measured by an Ostwald Viscometer at room temperature. Morphological characterization and surface area analysis of co-poly(anethole-LMA) was performed using SEM and SAA, respectively. The successful synthesis of co-poly(anethole-LMA) was proven by the disappearance of vinyl group absorption at 1696, 1638, 965, and 938 cm-1 of the FTIR spectra, as well as the loss of vinyl group proton signals at 6.4-5.5 ppm in the 1H-NMR spectra. Increasing the weight of the LMA affected the characteristics of co-poly(anethole-LMA). The relative molecular weight of co-poly(anethole-LMA) was found to rise by increasing the weight of LMA. The Mv of co-poly(anethole-LMA) 2%, 4%, and 6% were 32378.62, 50611.05, and 65133.79 g/mol, respectively. The morphology of co-poly(anethole-LMA) showed that the surface distance between particles was getting tighter and the highest surface area in co-poly(Anethole-LMA) 6% was 233.80 m2/g.

Abstract

In the pursuit of environmentally responsible chemical processes, we conducted a thorough assessment of the green metrics associated with the Cannizzaro reaction using p-anisaldehyde and benzaldehyde under solvent-free conditions. This research elaborates the application of two different methods i.e., reflux and ultrasonication, applying potassium hydroxide (KOH) as the reagent. The progress of the Cannizzaro reaction was methodically followed via thin-layer chromatography (TLC), and the resulting products were characterized using various techniques, including melting point analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS). To measure the environmental impact and sustainability of these reactions, a multifaceted approach was used. Green metrics were evaluated by the state-of-the-art Environmental Assessment Tool for Organic Syntheses (EATOS) software, combined with the Andraos algorithm. Moreover, energy consumption calculations were evaluated. Reasonable analysis of the green metrics results was undertaken in the framework of prevailing literature, permitting to measure the level of eco-friendliness attained. Experimental findings revealed optimal conditions for the Cannizzaro reaction concerning p-anisaldehyde at a temperature of 50 °C for 90 minutes, resulting in remarkable of p-anisyl alcohol and p-anisic acid in 95.16% and 95.04% yields, respectively. Likewise, the reaction involving benzaldehyde reached its peak performance at 50 °C for 2 hours, giving benzyl alcohol and benzoic acid in 96.17% and 97.22% yields, respectively. Overall, the green metrics assessment and energy consumption calculations reliably confirmed that the solvent-free Cannizzaro reaction, when performed via ultrasonication, offers a reasonably greener and more energy-efficient method than the traditional ones. This research highlights the importance of sustainable chemical synthesis practices and their potential to reduce the environmental footprint of chemical processes.
