Abstract

In this digital era, textbooks are still a reference in learning but mostly in the form of softfiles (BSE). This study aims to determine the feasibility of biology textbooks based on basic competencies in the curriculum. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results is the class XI biology textbooks on the respiratory system and digestive system materials were sufficient in accordance with the basic competencies in the curriculum. One misconception was found in the material for the organs of the digestive system. The types of questions on the competency test have not been directed to higher-order thinking skills. Two writing errors were found. The images presented are relatively less attractive and effective because they only use black and white contrasting colors. Through the results of this study, it is recommended that the learning process use a variety of learning resources that will complement each other. Key words: high school textbook; biological material. Abstrak Pada era digital ini, buku teks masih menjadi rujukan dalam pembelajaran namun lebih banyak dalam bentuk softfile (BSE). Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan buku teks biologi berdasarkan kompetensi dasar dalam kurikulum. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian analisis buku teks biologi kelas XI pada materi sistem pernapasan dan sistem pencernaan sudah cukup sesuai dengan kompetensi dasar pada kurikulum. Diitemukan satu kesalahan konsep pada materi organ sistem pencernaan. Jenis pertanyaan pada uji kompetensi belum diarahkan kepada kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Ditemukan dua kesalahan penulisan. Gambar yang disajikan relatif kurang menarik dan efektif karena hanya menggunakan warna kontras hitam dan putih. Melalui hasil penelitian ini, direkomendasikan agar proses pembelajaran menggunakan variasi sumber belajar yang akan saling melengkapi satu sama lain. Kata kunci: buku teks SMA; materi biologi

Abstract

Genetics is a branch of Biology that becomes the basic building blocks of Biology, because almost none of the development of biological science is based on the concept of genetics. However, until now Genetics is still considered difficult for students so that the opportunity for the emergence of an understanding of the concept of genetics that is different from the understanding put forward by experts. The difference in understanding can trigger misconceptions especially in Biology Education students as future teachers who need to master Genetics content. Therefore, efforts are needed to identify students' conceptions with diagnostic three tier test which is considered capable of providing information about misconceptions. This study aims to identify and analyze the misconceptions of Biology Education students on Genetics material. The sample used is a saturated sample, namely all Biology Education Semester 2 students of FKIP UHAMKA. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, which plays a role in data collection in the form of a percentage of student conceptions to be compared with predetermined criteria. The results of this study concluded that there were misconceptions from the 18th diagnostic three tier test of Genetics material by 50%. Of the four sub-materials, respectively, the highest misconceptions occurred in the substance of genetics by 54%, cell division by 51%, patterns of inheritance of traits by 49%, and mutations by 43%.
