Abstract

The Numerical Method is one of the introductory courses that are useful for students to understand mathematics better. However, the reality on the ground is that students do not understand the material in this course and only use problem-solving methods without understanding its meaning. This research is development research. This research aims to describe the results of the numerical method course module's development, efficiency and effectiveness based on creative thinking. This study uses a modified Thiagarajan development model in three stages: the define, design, and developing stages. This research was conducted with the subjects of fourth-semester students who took the Numerical Method course in the mathematics education study program at the Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. This research produces a product from a numerical method course module. Based on the analysis results at the define stage, students still do not interpret the material in the numerical method course, so their creative thinking skills tend to be poorly trained. At the design stage, the module is prepared by training students with creative thinking skills. Finally, at the development stage, the module is validated and tested in the numerical method course. The validation results state that the module is valid and can be used with minor revisions. Furthermore, after being tested, the students' responses were found to be in good criteria, meaning that the module was constructive for students. Then, the results of the creative thinking ability test stated that the results of the creative thinking ability test of students who used the development result module experienced mastery learning. Based on these results, it is concluded that the numerical method course module based on creative thinking skills is valid, practical and effective. Keywords: development, numerical method, creative thinking.

Abstract

. Lesson Study (LS) is the learning of assessment activities carried out by a group of teachers / faculty collaborative and sustainable to test and improve the effectiveness of learning. In this study, the implementation of lesson study to improve student interest in learning through the learning method Seminars Group. The results obtained by analysis of the average increase student interest in learning. Cycle 1 gained an average interest of students 67, 86 in the category of high interest in learning. In the first cycle of the findings of the observer focused on seating position make it difficult for the observer to move and students still do not concentrate on learning. Seat that is positioned in groups. Cycle 2 gained an average of 70.78 in the category of student interest high interest in learning. In Cycle 2 focused on the position of the seat. Apparently after the seat is positioned to the observer, the motion less students, so many students are easily sleepy and easier to jaw, with no attention to the lecturer. Cycle 3 gained an average of 72.59 students' interest in the category of high interest. In the do cycle 3, the observer gain some findings that many students were late, and there are still some students who own story. This is possible because they are too short presentation and question focus. Suggestions observer, lecturer models the moderator in the learning process. Cycle 4 gained an average of 72.71 in the category of student interest high interest in learning. Learning is in conformity with the plan, but there are still students who do the work of other subjects. This is a model professor responded by asking questions that make students think, re-concentration of students with learning again.

Abstract

A crucial aspect in various disciplines is numeracy skills. The purpose of the study was to determine the difference in the average social-emotional competence and numeracy skills of students before and after the implementation of differentiated learning that integrated social-emotional competence. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri Satu Atap 1 Cimanggu, Cilacap. The sample in this study was selected using the saturated slicing technique involving 22 grade VIII students. The type of research is an experimental study that uses a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test method. The data collection techniques used include observation, tests, and questionnaires. There are 20 questions in the questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively using paired sample t-tests and descriptive statistics. Before conducting the analysis, a prerequisite test was carried out using a normality test to test the distribution of data. The results of the study showed that the numeracy skills had a significance value of 0.200 (>0.05) and the social-emotional competence had a significance value of 0.11 (>0.05) which showed that the data was normally distributed. The results of the analysis showed that the value of the t-test of numeracy was 49.423 (t-test > ttable), with a significance value (2-tailed) < 0.05 (0.00 < 0.05). For KSE, the statistical value of the t-test was 27.54 with a very small p-value (5.75×10⁻¹⁸) indicating that there is a significant difference in the average value of numeracy skills and KSE before and after the implementation of integrated differentiation learning KSE. Integrated differentiation learning KSE can be applied to improve numeracy skills. The results of this study can be used as a solution to overcome the low mathematical numeracy skills of students.
