Abstract

The aims of this research was to decrease the level chromium and TSS in the laboratory wastewater liquid sample PT SUCOFINDO by using calcium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide. Precipitation process was done by reacting the wastewater sample and solution Ca(OH)2 0,2 and NaOH 1 M at pH variation 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, then allowed to settle for 24 hours and established the optimal pH at both solution was used in the precipitation process. Analysis content of Cr metal at this research using AAS instrument and analysis for content of TSS in this research using gravimetric method. The optimal pH precipitation to decrease Cr metal and TSS level is 8 in each of the solution used. Cr metal level after precipitation using Ca(OH)2 solution at pH 8 is 0.0901 mg/L and TSS level is 0.005 mg/L. Cr metal level after precipitation using NaOH at pH 8 is 0.0935 mg/L and TSS level is 0.008 mg/L. If compared with level decrease of Cr metal and TSS in laboratory wastewater using Ca(OH)2 and NaOH solution, and found the effectiveness of solution that have better efficiency to reduce levels of Cr and TSS in the low concentration is calcium hydroxide.

Abstract

Abstract

The study about the comparison of analytical performance of the determination of Pb metal ions using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer in various laboratories in samarinda has been conducted. The validated methods are linearity, detection limits, quantity and precision limits. The results showed, a standardized regression test obtained by laboratory A, a value of R2 ≥ 0.4103, laboratory B a value of R2 ≥ 0.983 and laboratory C, a value of R2 ≥ 0.000. The detection limit found at laboratory A was 0.6728 µg/L, laboratory B was 0.1989 µg/L and laboratory C was 0.0001 µg/L. The quantization limit obtained by laboratory A was 0.6817 µg/L, laboratory B was 0.6063 µg/L and laboratory C was 0.0001 µg/L. The precision test of laboratory A was 7.2208, laboratory B was 5.4557 and laboratory C was 0,000. The result of determining Pb of gas station soil samples in laboratory A is 0.737 µg/L and laboratory B is 0.391 µg/L, so that means they have exceeded the quality standards set by the Indonesian National Standard (INS).

Abstract

The adsorption of cadmium ions (Cd2+) using adsorbent from tea waste by column method has been carried out. The purpose of this study is to utilize tea waste as an adsorbent to adsorb cadmium ions. The preparation tea waste was washed with hot water until the filtrate is colorless, then the dried tea waste was crushed and sieved using a 60 mesh sieve. In this study, the adsorption process used the batch method and column method. Determination of metal ions concentration of cadmium complexed with dithizone and measured with UV-Vis spectrophotometer at 518 nm. The optimum conditions of cadmium metal adsorption using adsorbent from tea waste by batch method at 10-minute contact time, pH 10, and the maximum adsorption capacity of 157.1282 mg/g. The adsorption process with optimum column method at 4.10 mL/minute flow rate and the maximum adsorption capacity of 68.8817 mg/g. The cadmium metal ions adsorption process follows the Langmuir isotherm type. Keywords: Adsorption, Tea Waste, Cadmium, Column Method.

Abstract

Research has been carried out regarding the synthesis of Magnetite-Alginate microcapsules (MNPs-ALG) and applied to Cu (II) metal ions. The nature of magnetic nanoparticles, Fe3O4 which easily form aggregations can be overcome by this encapsulation process, but a very efficient separation process is also very much needed in the analytical separation process. The process of making magnetite nanoparticle compounds is carried out first using FeCl2.4H2O and FeCl3.6H2O and adding concentrated ammonia at a temperature of 90οC until the solution becomes blackish in color. The dry magnetite, Fe3O4, nanoparticles were then dissolved in distilled water and thickened with Na-Alginate then dropped slowly into a 1 M CaCl2 solution. The results of characterization using SEM showed that there were differences in morphology before and after contact, and there was 0.98% mass of Cu elements on the EDS results. The microcapsule adsorption optimization test gave results for the best adsorption percentage >90% on a mass variation of magnetite (MNPs) of 0.3 grams; pH 5; contact time of 30 minutes and retention capacity of 185.95 mg/gram, at a Cu(II) concentration of 800 ppm. Analytical performance shows the best results with linearity parameters with a correlation coefficient of 0.999; the detection limit and quantitation limit are 0.0516 ppb and 0.1720 ppb with a lifetime of four times. The application of samples in the form of river water samples shows a percent recovery value of around >90%, indicating that there is no matrix that significantly influences the measurements.
