Abstract

Research Survey of integrated pest management fruit flyBactroceraspp on cytrus in threesubdistrict’s of Karo’s regency.The aim of this research was to find out relation between integratedpest management with the number of fruit flies imago, damage percentage and production of orangein three Karo regency. This research had been conducted at farmer field Simpang Empat, BarusJahe dan Tiga Panah, Kabupaten Karo pada May - September 2013 using survey method bycorrelation quantitative analyze rank Spearman. The result showed that the number of orange fruitflies had a significant corelation with damage percentage of fruit flies (rxy= 0,733), and integrated pestmanagement was not have the significant corelation with damage percentage (rx1y= 0,256) but had asignificant corelation with production of cytrus in Karo (rx1y1= 0,464). The highest number ofBactrocera spp imago were showed in Tiga Panah with 71,07 imago number and the lowest wereshowed in Barus Jahe with 23,76 imago number. The highest damage percentage were inTiga Panah 14,27% and the lowest damage percentage were in Barus Jahe 5,89%. The best orangeproduction were in Barus Jahe with 14,05 ton/ha/year, and the lowest production were inTiga Panah with 10,05ton/ha/year.Keywords: Cytrus, Bactrocera spp dan IPM.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the effectivity of entomopathogenic fungi B. bassianadan M. anisopliae to C. sacchariphagus with different concentration levels. This research wasconducted at the Laboratory of Pest, Agroecotechnology Program Study, Faculty of Agriculture,University of North Sumatera, with altitude ±25 m asl from February until March 2014. Themethod used Randomized Completely Design non factorial which consist of 7 treatments and 3replication. The treatments consist of : T0 (Control), T1(B. bassiana 30gr/1l water), T2 (B. bassiana40gr/1l water), T3 (B.bassiana 50 gr/1l water), T4 (M. anisopliae 30gr/1l water), T5 (M. anisopliae40gr/1l water), T6 (M. anisopliae 50gr/1l water). Parameters measured were percentage mortalitylarva and the change of morphology larva. The result showed that the most effective B. bassiana isthe treatment T2 dan T3 by 73.33% and 86.67% and the most effective M. anisopliae is thetreatment of T5 dan T6 by 86.67% and 100.00%. The observation of the change of morphology oflarva C. sacchariphagus was as the following: the movement of larva C. sacchariphagus becameslow (lazy), the body of the larva was weakening dead and hardening, and finally was covered bydifferent colors of mycelium, i.e. B. bassiana was covered by and mycelium white M. anisopliaewas covered by green mycelium.Key words: Beauveria bassiana, Chilo sacchariphagus, Metarrhizium anisopliae, sugar cane

Abstract

The aim of this research was to get the best shape and elevation of yellow sticky trap to controlfruit fly. Research was conducted from September 2013 until November 2013 at Kuta Tualahvillage, Kecamatan Kutalimbaru, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, North Sumatera on 57 meter above sealevel. The research was conducted using Randomized Block Design (RAK) factorial with twofactors and 5 replications. The first factor was U1= 100 cm, U2= 150 and U3= 200 cm and thesecond factor was T1= circle, T2= square, T3= sylinde. The results showed that circle yellowsticky trap with 150 cm elevation more effective for trapping male and female fruit fly than theothers. The highest number of larvae in tomatoes fruit was founded at square yellow sticky trapwith 100 cm elevations. Highest tomatoes production (21.86 ton / ha) was founded at circle yellowsticky trap with 150 cm elevation, meanwhile the lowest (3.70 ton / ha) was founded at squareyellow sticky trap with 100 cm elevation.Key words: Bactrocera spp., fruit fly, tomato, trap

Abstract

The aim of the research was to get effective concentration of chitosan suspension to controltermites (Coptotermes curvignathus) on the rubber plants in the field. This research was conductedin experiment field at Sungei Putih Research Centre since March until June 2014. This researchused Randomized Block Design Non Factorial with 6 treatments, 0, 6, 12, 18, 24 and 30 g whichapplicated with bait and three replications. The result showed that the highest percentage (100%)of termites mortality was 18 g treatment and the lowest (18.67%) at control treatment five day afterapplication. The symptoms infection of chitosan was characterized by discoloration of the abdomenwhich beginning white to blackish brown.Keywords : termites, chitosan, bait

Abstract

The objective of this research was to get an effective termiticides to control termites (C. curvignathus) in the laboratory. The research was conducted at Pest Laboratory, Agricultural Faculty, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan, from April until May 2014. The method used Randomized Complete Design Nonfactorial with seven treatments. The tratments were (control, cassava bark 25g/L water, cassava bark 50g/L water, cassava bark 75g/L water, cassava bark 100g/L water, kerosene and termiticide (active ingredient imidakloprid) and three replications. The results showed that kerosene was more effective to control termite that the others with mortality of 95% followed by imidacloprid termitisida (85%), cassava bark 100g / L (76.67%), whereas cassava bark 75g / L, 50 g / L, 25g / L weren’t effective to control termite with percentage of mortality were 65, 50, 46.67% respectively. Termite's death marked by the existence of body color changed from pale white to blackish brown color and stiff body shape then into wrinkles.Keywords : termiticide, Captotermes curvignathus, mortality

Abstract

The objective of this research was to get bioinsecticides that efective againts the borer on chickpea in the field. This research was conducted at the Desa Kerapuh Kecamatan Dolok Masihul Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai, from November 2013 until Januari 2014. The research used complete block design nonfactorial with eight treatments and three replications. The treatments were control, Leaf extract of betelvine 100 g/l, leaf extract of soursop 250 g/l, Extract of Derris 50 g/l, Leaf extract of papaya 100 g/l, Bacillus thuringiensis 1ml/l, Beauveria bassiana 10 gr/l and Klorantraniliprol 1 ml/liter. The result showed that kind of bioinsecticide gave different effect to all of parameters. The best bioinsecticide to control M. testulalis was leaf extract of soursop 250 gram/liter.Key words: Maruca testulalis, chickpea, bioinsecticide

Abstract

Kelapa sawit merupakan salah satu komoditi hasil perkebunan yang memiliki peran penting dalam perekonomian di Indonesia. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi adalah rendahnya produktivitas dan kualitas kelapa sawit yang disebabkan oleh G. boninense. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan cendawan yang terdapat pada tanah supresif terhadap G. boninense penyebab penyakit busuk pangkal batang pada tanaman kelapa sawit. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengambil sampel tanah terinfestasi G. boninense dan tanah supresif disekitar tanaman kelapa sawit untuk dianalisis keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan cendawan. Analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode pengenceran pada tingkat pengenceran 10-3 hingga 10-5 pada media PDA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanah supresif mengandung cendawan yang mampu menghambat pertumbuhan patogen tular tanah. Keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan cendawan pada tanah supresif lebih tinggi daripada keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan cendawan pada tanah terinfestasi G. boninense. Total isolat yang diperoleh dari tanah supresif sebanyak 8 isolat dan total isolat yang diperoleh dari tanah terinfestasi sebanyak 4 isolat.
