Abstract

The Social Entrepreneurship Assistance Program, implemented through a collaborative partnership between the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and the Technology Business Incubator of Universitas Andalas, was designed to strengthen the economic independence of vulnerable households through entrepreneurship development. The program involved 350 Beneficiary Families (Keluarga Penerima Manfaat, KPM) across Padang City (150 participants), Pariaman City (100 participants), and Tanah Datar Regency (100 participants), West Sumatra, Indonesia. According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), vulnerable communities experience disproportionately high rates of micro-enterprise failure due to inadequate business planning and limited managerial capacity. This community development initiative adopted a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach integrated with a structured business incubation model. The intervention consisted of regional coordination, participant screening, a Training of Trainers (TOT) program for 20 local mentors, and three months of intensive field mentoring. Capacity-building activities emphasized business model development using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) and SWOT analysis, financial literacy and bookkeeping, and productive asset enhancement through financial assistance of IDR 600,000 for each beneficiary family. In addition, a Virtual Expo platform was established to improve product promotion and expand market access. The program achieved a 100% completion rate in business model development, while 85% of participants consistently adopted daily cash bookkeeping practices. These findings indicate that strategic collaboration between university-based technology business incubators and government institutions can effectively enhance entrepreneurial capacity, reduce micro-enterprise risks, and promote sustainable socio-economic empowerment by transforming vulnerable households into resilient and independent entrepreneurs.

Abstract

Business development requires research and networking. Even in their infancy, business owners need these things. It is just that often Technology-Based Beginner Entrepreneurs (PPBT) do not take this seriously. This activity's long-term goal is to create market surveys and networks that provide convenience in developing the PPBT business. The specific targets of this activity are: 1) conducting a market survey for Andalas University PPBT products (minimum 5 products); 2) implementation of business matching where PPBT is met with all stakeholders, especially business people who are relevant for the development of PPBT products as well as with buyers who can become buyers for PPBT products. The method used is by conducting market surveys to potential customers and conducting business meetings that bring together PPBT and all parties who can help PPBT business. The output of this activity is a market survey and business meeting. The activities obtained were marketing innovative products such as mangosteen peel teabags, Unca tea (Gambir) teabags, sorghum flour, honey peel-off masks, and coffee body scrubs are still tricky. This is because the production of this innovative product is not carried out continuously, and the selling price is relatively high compared to similar comparison products. It can be concluded from this activity that Unand's innovation product must compete with other products if it is to be chosen by the community. One form of strategy that can be done is to reduce production costs so that the selling price of the product can also be reduced. Another form of increasing sales of innovative products is by producing break-even points so that producers will not suffer losses.

Abstract

This program aims to develop Bukik Gompong, an organic vegetable and fruit producer in West Sumatra, to meet national retail product standards. The program is designed to enhance the capacity of local farmers through a series of training sessions and mentoring on organic farming techniques, the use of modern agricultural technologies, and effective post-harvest management. Additionally, the program involves collaboration with industry partners like Transmart Carrefour Padang to ensure that the products can be optimally marketed in modern retail markets. The methods used in this activity include identifying market needs, conducting outreach and education for farmers, providing resources such as high-quality seeds and organic fertilizers, as well as offering intensive support during the production and distribution processes. A community development approach was implemented to ensure that farmers were actively involved as key subjects in this business development. The results show a significant improvement in farmers' capacity, both in terms of production management and marketing. Production efficiency also improved with the use of agricultural technologies that support the quality and quantity of organic yields. The collaboration with Transmart Carrefour opened wider market access, allowing local organic products to meet the demand of modern retail markets in West Sumatra. In conclusion, this program successfully created a sustainable business model for the startup while also improving the economic conditions of local farmers. Further recommendations include periodic evaluations and technological innovations to ensure the program’s sustainability.

Abstract

This community engagement program aimed to accelerate the institutional transformation of Vocational High School 1 Tanjungpandan, Belitung Regency, as a designated Vocational High School Center of Excellence (SMK-PK). The school faced several institutional challenges, including misalignment between its long-term strategic vision and operational roadmap, limited collaboration with business, industry, and the workforce (DUDIKA), and the absence of standardized Project-Based Learning (PjBL) models. As part of a national initiative entrusted to Universitas Andalas, a structured university-led mentoring program was implemented over a six-month period. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach combined with collaborative workshops involving 35 participants, including the principal, the Center of Excellence (CoE) team, and vocational teachers. The intervention consisted of institutional mapping, site observations, strategic roadmap revision workshops, curriculum alignment, and the development of Teaching Factory (TeFa) frameworks to strengthen school–industry collaboration. The results demonstrated significant institutional progress, including the complete revision of the strategic roadmap in alignment with industry needs, the development of three new Project-Based Learning (PjBL) instructional modules, and the establishment of formal internship partnerships with five local DUDIKA partners. These outcomes strengthened institutional governance, improved curriculum relevance, and enhanced collaboration between the school and industry. Overall, the program demonstrates that systematic university-led mentoring is an effective strategy for supporting vocational school transformation, reducing implementation challenges, and fostering sustainable link-and-match partnerships with industry. This mentoring model offers a practical and replicable framework for strengthening vocational education, particularly in geographically remote and island regions.
