Abstract

In education, such as classroom teaching and learning, politeness is very important. Students communicate with the teacher during the teaching and learning process using various sayings that demonstrate politeness strategies. Considering politeness consists of methods to create appropriate politeness in communication between students and teachers. But when students use politeness strategies in giving feedback on the teacher's response, not all students can know a good speech. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the politeness strategies used by students and teachers for classroom interaction. There are four politeness strategies based on Brown and Levinson's theory. There are bald on record, off record, positive politeness, and negative politeness. Researcher used qualitative descriptive methods to describe the results. The participants of this study were students and teachers in English classes. Researcher used two research instruments, namely interviews and observations. The Data were analyzed by undergoing several processes such as reading, analyzing, interpreting, and inferring. The results showed that the most dominant politeness strategy used by students is positive politeness. Thus, this study is expected to contribute to students choosing the suitability of politeness strategies when classed.

Abstract

This study explores the removal of Rhodamine B dye from wastewater using SiO2/ZnO catalysts synthesized by wet impregnation with varying zinc nitrate loadings (0.25–1.25 g). The catalyst prepared with 1 g of Zn(NO₃)₂ exhibited the highest activity, achieving a remarkable 95% degradation of Rhodamine B under UV irradiation. This enhanced performance is attributed to optimized active site availability on the catalyst surface. FTIR characterization confirmed the presence of both SiO₂and ZnO, with characteristic vibrational modes observed at 1067.44 cm⁻¹ and 428.72 cm⁻¹, respectively. These findings highlight the promising potential of tailored SiO₂/ZnO catalysts for efficient and environmentally friendly treatment of dye-contaminated wastewater.

Abstract

Academic resilience is paramount for students to persevere even in challenging, risky, and unfavorable circumstances. This study investigated the influence of demographic factors, such as age and gender, as well as psychological factors, specifically adversity quotient and school engagement, on students' academic resilience. The participants in this study consisted of 262 high school students from two Boarding Schools in South Kalimantan. Participants were asked to complete the scales for the variables and respond according to their current circumstances. This quantitative study collected data via Zoom Meetings and analyzed it using hierarchical regression. Findings from the analysis indicated that demographic factors did not play a significant role in academic resilience R2 = 0.032, F(2.259) = 4.305, p = 0.014, while psychological factors showed significant results (R2 = 0.390, F(2.257) = 75.267, p = 0.000. Although demographic factors such as age and gender had no significant effect on academic resilience, psychological factors such as adversity quotient (β = 0.547, t = 9.694, p < 0.05) and school engagement (β = 0.116, t = 2.035, p < 0.05) had a strong influence. These findings emphasized the importance of the adversity quotient in shaping how students view academic challenges as opportunities for growth and school engagement as a key driver in enhancing academic resilience. The main contribution of this research lies in educational psychology, particularly in efforts to improve educational quality by providing moral and psychological support services that strengthen students’ resilience and academic performance.

Abstract

Abstrak – PT Jarakosta Multi Mandiri merupakan salah satu perusahaan jasa yang menyediakan service mobil. PT Jarakosta Multi Mandiri berlokasi di Jl. Kawasan Industri MM 2100 Kp. Jarakosta Rt 002 Rw 001 Kel. Danau Indah Kec. Cikarang Barat Kab. Bekasi.
