Abstract

This study analyzes the application of the Just In Time (JIT) method toward inventory cost efficiency of suction tubes at PT. Rama Mulia Sentosa, an industrial component distributor in Purwakarta. The main problem faced is high inventory costs due to excessively frequent ordering with small quantities, causing waste in storage costs and trapped working capital. This study aims to analyze inventory management conditions before and after JIT implementation, as well as to determine the effectiveness of the method. Suction tube inventory data for January–December 2025 was processed using three approaches: conventional company policy, Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method, and Just In Time (JIT) method. The calculation results show that the JIT method produces the lowest total inventory cost of Rp 599,833.31 per year, compared to EOQ at Rp 1,469,285.54 and conventional policy at Rp 7,266,922.75. JIT implementation successfully reduced inventory costs by 91.75% compared to the conventional system, with ordering frequency reduced from 48 to 1 time per year. With an average supplier lead time of 5–6 days, the JIT method is considered highly feasible to be implemented at PT. Rama Mulia Sentosa.

Abstract

This study aims to identify potential hazards, assess occupational safety risks, and develop safety improvement recommendations for mechanical work at PT Arasindo Bina Bersama using the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) methods. This study employed qualitative and quantitative approaches through field observations, interviews, and documentation. JSA was used to identify potential hazards at each stage of the work process, while HIRARC was applied to assess risk levels and determine appropriate control measures based on the hierarchy of controls. The results identified three critical mechanical activities, namely hydraulic hose and pipe installation, axle component dismantling and installation, and hydraulic pipe and hose assembly, with a total of 26 identified hazards. The HIRARC risk assessment classified the hazards into 1 Very High Risk, 4 High Risk, 18 Medium Risk, and 3 Low Risk categories. Hazards classified as Very High Risk and High Risk were prioritized for immediate implementation of control measures. Meanwhile, Medium Risk hazards required additional controls to reduce the level of risk, whereas Low Risk hazards only required periodic monitoring. Safety improvement recommendations were developed based on the hierarchy of controls, including elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment. This study demonstrates that the integration of JSA and HIRARC provides a systematic approach to hazard identification, risk prioritization, and the development of effective control strategies to improve occupational safety and promote a sustainable occupational health and safety culture.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the AfterTreatment machine maintenance at PT XYZ using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Six Big Losses methods. The AfterTreatment machine is a crucial part of the rayon fiber production process but has been experiencing a high level of downtime. The OEE method is used to measure machine effectiveness based on three key components: availability, performance efficiency, and quality. Data was collected from machine operations between September 2024 and February 2025. The results show that the average OEE value is 75.99%, which is below the world-class standard of 85%. The primary causes of low OEE are losses due to reduced speed, equipment failure, and idling & minor stoppages. By identifying the loss causes through the Six Big Losses and Fishbone Diagram methods, this research proposes improvements including preventive maintenance planning and enhanced operator training. The study concludes that machine effectiveness can be improved by minimizing major losses and optimizing maintenance strategies.
