Abstract

Abstract

The Effect Of Loading On The Power Capacity Of A 1-Phase 50 Kva Distribution Transformer. The 50 kVA distribution transformer at the SNT04-109 substation plays an important role in distributing electrical energy to customers. However, increasing loads can accelerate the decline in transformer performance and lifespan. This study aims to analyze the effect of loading on transformer power capacity using a descriptive quantitative approach based on load current data from 2019 to 2023. The results show that the average nighttime load current increased from 96 A in 2019 to 131 A in 2023. Based on calculations, the actual power carried has reached 28.9 kVA or 72.2% of the maximum capacity. With an annual load growth trend of around 8.7%, it is estimated that transformers will experience overloading in the coming years. If load management or uprating is not carried out, the risk of damage and decreased operational efficiency will increase. Therefore, routine monitoring and capacity planning are essential to maintain the reliability of electricity distribution.

Abstract

This Study Aims To Analyze The Effect Of Loading On The Life-Time Of A 50 Kv Distribution Transformer at Penyulang LMS01, Tambakreja Village, ULP Cilacap Kota. Distribution transformers are critical components in power systems, and overloading can accelerate performance degradation and reduce their lifespan. The research method involves measuring current, voltage, and load power of a B&D transformer from 2019 to 2023. The analysis reveals that excessive loading, especially during nighttime, reduces the transformer's lifespan by 8 years and 9 months from the standard 20 years, with an error value of 44,25%. The remaining lifespan is estimated at only 11 years and 3 months. This study recommends regular monitoring and limiting loads to below 80% capacity to extend the transformer's operational life.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of duty cycle, inductance, and capacitance variations on the performance of a buck converter through simulation using PSIM software. The research aims to quantify how these parameters affect output voltage and ripple, which are key factors in achieving efficient and stable DC–DC conversion for renewable energy applications. The converter was modeled with an input voltage of 48 V, an intended output voltage of 24 V, and a switching frequency of 20 kHz. Simulation results show that the output voltage increases linearly with the duty cycle. At a 50% duty cycle, the converter achieved an output voltage of 23.9 V, confirming accurate voltage regulation. Furthermore, ripple voltage was found to decrease significantly with higher inductance and capacitance values, reaching a minimum of 0.1 V when L is 750 μH and C is 1,250 μF. These results demonstrate that optimizing LC parameters can substantially improve voltage stability and filtering efficiency. The findings provide practical design guidance for high-efficiency buck converters used in renewable energy and power electronic applications.

Abstract

Abstract

This study presents the design, simulation, fabrication, and experimental validation of a Savonius Helix vertical axis wind turbine optimized for low wind regimes in Cilacap, Indonesia. Wind data from NASA POWER were analyzed at two locations, revealing dominant low wind conditions with notable temporal variability. The turbine geometry was optimized based on aerodynamic and inertial parameters, followed by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to evaluate torque, pressure distribution, and power coefficient across four configurations (2B90P, 2B180P, 3B90P, 3B180P). The optimal design was fabricated using fiberglass and tested under no-load and loaded conditions with a Permanent Magnet DC generator. Results indicate strong agreement between CFD trends and experimental performance, despite deviations caused by mechanical losses and atmospheric turbulence. Overall, the Savonius Helix configuration demonstrates effective energy capture capability in low wind environments, confirming its feasibility for small-scale renewable energy applications.
