Abstract

The river is can not only be used for the transportion, but also as a natural resource that can be enjoyed visually. If it can be enjoyed freely, people can also controll the use of the river. A river that can not be monitored can make the river damage and create a pollution. Pontianak is a riverfront city which it development requires a river as the center of the development orientation. As the transport medium and service trade, the Kapuas river should be accessible to the public and can be enjoyed as a public area. The public have a right to access the river, enjoy the scenery and river activities, and uses the facilities provided. In fact, the activity on the banks of the Kapuas river in the Seng Hie area, strictly limited to the direct users of the waterfront area. Communities outside the region can not enjoy waterfront area freely. This study aimed to analyze the existence of public access and open space in the Seng Hie  area, whether it meets the requirements according to the rules of  designing waterfront region. Stages of analysis used in the study consists of two phases, which is identifies public access and open space in the Seng Hie region and evaluate the suitability of the first stage identification result to the rules of designing waterfront region.Seng Hie area has a unique character that gives the image of the city of Pontianak. This area has the potential to be developed. This area already has the appeal of the inherent function, namely trade. This makes this area very easily become a magnet to invite more people to visit.REFERENCESBreen, Ann dan Dick Rigby. (1994). Waterfront, Cities Reclaim Their Edge. Mc.Graw Hill. Abstract

As the region engaged in the aspects of economy and trade services, this corridor used to updated their facades to support their business activities. However, this modification of facade perceived as an unfocused sight and tend to deviate from the old facade images of the past. Therefore this research conducted to find the visual character on the area of the Tanjungpura street that can be useful for façade’s recommendation to maintain the visual character of this corridor as the shopping stores. Abstract

Dan berdasarkan kondisi fisik lapangan, model mitigasi bencana berupa jalur sirkulasi berupa titian (papan kayu).THE PERCEPTION OF RIVERBANK COMMUNITY ON UTILIZATION OF CIRCULATION AND OPEN SPACE AS DISASTER MITIGATION RESPONSE BASED ON WATER DISASTER IN SINTANGSintang is one of the cities in West Kalimantan which lies in the confluence of two rivers, i.e. Kapuas River and Melawi River. Kapuas Kiri Hilir Village, Menyumbung Tengah Village and Ulak Jaya Village have been densely populated residential areas in Sintang for a long time, located close to the historical centre of Sintang i.e. Sintang Palace and still exists today. While the condition of the world that is experiencing global warming has resulted in areas that are directly related to water susceptible to rising water levels (tidal water). Given the value of human life, research is needed on the use of the circulation space and open space for disaster mitigation based on water in the three villages. This study aims to identify and illustrate a model of water disaster-based mitigation (hydrometeorological disaster), seen from the public perception and utilization of circulation and open space. This research was conducted using an inductive mindset, which is thinking based from specific detail to general truth. Data collection techniques, data processing, and analysis were carried out by comparing quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative was used to measure people's perceptions of disaster based on water-disaster. Whereas qualitative method described the illustration of open space and circulation. The results of the research on community perceptions concluded that disaster that often occurs is disaster of rising water levels (flood / tide). The community also believes that even though they face droughts, the impact is not too pronounced because they have anticipated it by providing water reservoirs. And based on the physical field condition, the suitable disaster mitigation model is circulation paths in the form of wooden board.

Abstract

Abstract

The shopping mall is a facility for profit-making with a complex spatial configuration that prioritizes the effectiveness in any aspects. The spatial configuration of a shopping mall needs more than a rule of thumb or a subjective judgment to optimize it. Many researchers have conducted studies of shopping mall spatial configuration by the theory and method of space syntax. But, the complexity of space syntax turns it hard to understand or apply in practical use. Due to the complexity of both shopping mall and space syntax, a guide is needed for practical directions to optimize shopping mall. This article review combines and synthesizes the findings of space syntax precedent studies. The scope of the study is on the building configuration scale (mesoscale). As the result, the optimization of a shopping mall can be measure by space syntax through measurement of connectivity, depth, integration, choice, and intelligibility. Each measurement has a different purpose. The most used measurement in shopping mall study is integration. The spatial configuration of the mall can be represented by the axial map, convex map, isovist map, VGA map, and agent-based in space syntax analyses. The most suitable map for shopping mall analysis is the VGA map because it shows the visual quality is vital in shopping mall design. There are several aspects of the shopping mall that can be adjusted or modified to optimize the shopping mall. Those aspects are pedestrian flows, horizontal complexity, vertical complexity, tenant type allocation, visual quality, retail placement, and anchor placement.

Abstract

Recently, the data on population distribution only illustrates a number of density of a city or a district. Thus, it can not show the exact area of the crowded population. The population density in a city can cause a mismatch between the available space and the carrying capacity of its environment. The discrepancy can make it challenging to allocate resources or assistance in a disaster. In this regard, it is necessary to conduct research on the population's spatial distribution and the potential for movement between spatial segments. It is important to locate the cramped space where the space has high density but low accessibility in the city. This study aimed to determine the distribution of the population in the grid of 0.5 km and its assessment on accessibility in Pontianak City. The methodology used in this research is the population mapping method and space syntax. This research performs a quadrant mapping and correlation analysis to assess city accessibility. The result of the population distribution of Pontianak City shows the density concentrated in the city's center and dispersed from the river to inland. The quadrant maps show that Pontianak City has good accessibility. The quadrant map can be used as a recommendation for city development. With the quadrant division, the government can first concentrate its resources on repairing or developing the grid unit with low accessibility. With a coefficient correlation of 40.5 % and 50.9 %, this research found a positive and moderate correlation between density distribution and accessibility.

Abstract

Understanding automotive is a science that reviews various types of transportation that use machines as a source of propulsion. Modifications generally change, add, and repair certain parts that aim to improve quality, features and style. A modification center was built to provide space for creativity or hobbies for communities, organizations and individuals. The modification center must also pay attention to the things needed by the modifiers, especially customers/immigrants. The condition of the modification workshops in Pontianak City are generally only found in homes that do not meet the standards in designing modification workshops in general so that the services are not necessarily good, such as exhibition rooms, workshop activity rooms, management rooms, and service rooms in handling waste. Various automotive that can be modified such as cars, motorcycles, and others. Where they want to update or add the desired variations. West Kalimantan, especially Pontianak, holds many events for car and motorcycle modification contests. The event is usually held at Rumah Radakng and Qubu Resort by collecting, presenting, compiling and analyzing data in order to obtain an approach to planning and design programs to be further used for program preparation and basic concepts of planning and design of modification workshop.

Abstract

Tourism is an important activity in urban development because it is able to increase economic factors that affect income increases, increase business and employment levels and reduce poverty, as well as one of the leading sectors that become income for the government. The success of tourism is easy to observe if there is an increase in the number of tourists who come from year to year. Location is a factor that greatly affects the increase in the number of tourists because a good location can increase the value of decisions in visiting tourist objects. This shows that the better the location, the higher the value of tourists' decisions in visiting tourist objects. Attractions have 4 development aspects in it which are called 4A aspects consisting of attractions, amenities, accessibility, and additional services. These aspects become benchmarks in seeing the offer of the location of a tourist attraction. The research was conducted with the aim of determining the location of the tourist attraction in Singkawang City based on the 4A aspect of the tourist attraction. This study uses a quantitative approach that uses spatial syntactic analysis to assess accessibility, and scores to generate findings. From the analysis, the results show that the tourist attraction in Singkawang City has sufficient value within the limits of possibilities and facilities that can be accessed at the tourist attraction.

Abstract

This research is based on the phenomenon of the importance of urban service spaces for tourist areas and users in them. For example, the Singkawang City service area that has been developed and is crowded with visitors is the Hongkong Market area. This area is a tourist destination in the form of a row of commercial and culinary buildings along Jl. Budi Utomo, Jl. Setia Budi and the surrounding streets. Seeing the importance of the city service space for tourist areas, it is necessary to optimize the city service space which is relatively easy for the community to cross. The purpose of this study is to find out the potential and problems of user distribution as seen from the spatial configuration of the Hongkong Market area. This study uses the space syntax to determine the achievement of the movement of visitors in the circulation space. The data analyzed by the space syntax first with the depthmapX 0.50. The results obtained from the space syntax are in the form of circulation data to determine the tendency of people to choose routes using axial map and visual graph mapping (VGA). The calculation analysis technique uses connectivity, integration, choice, step depth and intelligibility. Analysis space syntax is in the form of proposed findings by adding culinary facilities to the Traditional Area alley and Jalan Muslimin Ismail.
