AbstractThe Reference Service is one of the library services designed to assist the users of the library in meeting their information needs. The development of reference services is, especially, important in the tertiary educational institutions. The growth of incredible information and technological developments decline the number of users of the printed reference collections ; there are pros and cons when it comes to the technology that, supposedly, make things easier and practical. The study aims to describe the usefulness of communication media in virtual reference services at the University of Indonesia Library. The results of the study illustrate that the University of Indonesia library has provided communication media as access to virtual reference services through various communication media due to the influence of the development of technological sophistication

Kebijakan Pengembangan koleksi merupakan prosedur yang mengatur dalam mengalokasikan sumber daya informasi di perpustakaan, bertujuan untuk menentukan apa yang harus dikembangkan dan menentukan peningkatakan layanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan masukan kepada perpustakaan terhadap kebijakan pengembagan koleksi di Perpustakaan Sekolah Tinggi Pembangunan Masyarakat Desa Yogyakarta. Tulisan ini akan mencoba menghasilkan suatu pedoman Kebijakan Pengembangan Koleksi di Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi. Kebijakan Pengembangan koleksi yang disusun menjadi usulan penulis sebagai masukan bagi perpustakaan untuk ditinjak lanjuti penerapannya. Sebagai masukan dalam membuat kebijakan ataupun ketika merevisi kebijakan yang telah ada. Kata Kunci: Pengembangan Koleksi, Seleksi, Evaluasi Koleksi, Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi

Library is an organization whose existence cannot be separated from the influence of environmental changes, especially the rapid development of information technology. The human resources in it are very important elements to keep in mind, especially the figure of a leader. Leaders are an important foundation for the sustainability of an organization, so that the ultimate goal of an institution can be achieved well. In the study of Islam, leadership is a human nature according to the mandate of Allah Almighty for humans to be the vicegerent of Allah on earth. The leader becomes a very important figure and is closely related to the organization and organizational structure, structuring, bureaucracy and leadership concepts in an organization.

Preservation of traditional materials became more successful and systematic after libraries and archives integrated preservation into overall planning and resource allocation. Digital preservation is largely experimental and replete with the risks associated with untested Digital preservation strategies are shaped by the needs and constraints of repositories with little consideration for the requirements of current and future users of digital scholarly resources. Archives contain millions of documents like manuscripts, rare books, paintings, photographs, and historical records. All these constitute human heritage. Paper manuscripts, with the passage of time, are getting fragile and brittle because of various reasons. Lamination does not seem to be a permanent solution of preservation this cultural heritage for posterity. Digitization technology brings with it untold benefits for heritage preservation access. Once a document has been properly digitized, it become immortal and can remain accessible long after the original has ceased to exist. The option of digital access further aids in preservation of originals through reduced need for physical handling. This paper states about need for digital preservation with its objectives in Library environment.

Kebijakan informasi di sebuah masyarakat menarik untuk dikaji, sebab cara masyarakat itu mengatur siklus hidup informasi akan sangat menentukan perkembangan masyarakat yang bersangkutan. Institusi seharusnya memperhatikan privasi data setiap individu, penggunaan tiap informasi melalui media elektronik yang menyangkut data pribadi seseorang harus dilakukan atas persetujuan orang yang bersangkutam, kecuali ditentukan lain oleh Perundangan-undangan. Selain melibatkan berbagai isu yang beragam, kebijakan informasi juga memperlihatkan kompleksitas dalam hal pembuatannya. Setiap kali suatu masyarakat ingin membuat kebijakan tentang informasi, maka terjadi konflik kepentingan baik dari segi tujuan, sasaran, kebiasaan, perencanaan, pemangku kepentingan (stakeholders), dan sebagainya yang seringkali tidak pernah dapat memuaskan semua pihak.

The development of information technology in the end encourage librarians to increase the use of ICT within the administering College Library. His goal was to be able to run the College Library functions with either IE as the brain knowledge and supporting the learning process through the availability of existing collections in the library. Librarians are beginning to understand that the service given by the library against pemustakanya can continue to improve in so well that pemustaka especially in access to information. The purpose of access to information in the era of the revolution Indutsri 4.0 at this time is how information can be received by pemustaka in quick time effectively and efficiently. Implementation of the virtual library on the College Library has the ability in solving problems, information explosion of the presence information and the influence of development of information technology. College Library's needs clearly felt it is important to use the right information technology, so that it can access a variety of information from around the world.

University libraries exist to support the teaching , learning and research needs of their institution. This is done by providing the latest information sources for the academic community as university library users. This mission can be achieved well through effective and periodic marketing of information and library services, one of which is through reference services. This article discusses the use of reference and information services in supporting distance learning as one of the impacts of the spread of the Covid 19 outbreak (current situation and the way forward). The research method is quantitative descriptive research, with 78 respondents and using literature related to the transformation of reference services in the digital era. Data collection is processed based on the results of observations, interviews of the IAIN Batusangkar library reference service and other college libraries in providing online reference services. The analysis explains the presence of a reference service for students, especially Library Science students at IAIN Batusangkar. Analyzing how the media can help reference librarians in providing optimal services to the academic community remotely. Describe the strategies that reference librarians can use in creating real time reference transactions in a technology environment while maintaining the main function of reference services. Introducing the idea of a ‘new face’ model of reference and information services for the IAIN Batusangkar library in the period of distance learning, especially the rapid change in learning systems as a result of the corona virus outbreak ( covid 19). Libraries need to improve the reference service system they provide, so that the academic community can meet their information needs through library services remotely, anytime and anywhere. At the end of this paper, it is intended that librarians, especially reference librarians. Continue to serve readers with different needs, librarians must walk across the library, access computer screens from all campus intranet systems, answer emails and explore other interactive tools to reach customers in an effective, practical and effective way. Efficient in order to always satisfy users and keep closer to them, as the main purpose of the presence of reference services.

This study investigates how contextual factors such as culture, geographical location and religious status can encourage, determine or prevent information seeking behavior in the tradition of mangaji ka surau at Balai Panjang Jorong Tigo Kampuang, Kenagarian Gaduik, Kec. Kamang tilapia. This research uses descriptive qualitative data collection method with interview method as a data collection tool. The findings show that geographic location, culture, and religious status can influence information seeking behavior. This article contributes to research on information retrieval in context. The findings can help in understanding the effects of several contextual factors, especially religious status, on information seeking behavior so as to support the implementation of a sustainable local knowledge preservation process. Penelitian ini bertujuan menjelskan bagaimana perilaku pencarian informasi berdasarkan aspek kontekstual seperti budaya, lokasi geografis dan status agama dapat mendorong, menentukan atau mencegah perilaku pencarian informasi dalam tradisi mangaji ka surau di Balai Panjang Jorong Tigo Kampuang, Kenagarian Gaduik, Kec. Tilatang Kamang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pengumpulan data kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode wawancara dan observasi sebagai alat pengumpul data, teknik analisis data yang digunakan terdiri dari data collection, data reduction, data display dan conclusion. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa lokasi geografis, budaya, dan status agama menjadi bagian dari perilaku pencarian informasi. Hasil temuan dapat membantu dalam memahami efek dari beberapa faktor kontekstual, terutama status agama, pada perilaku pencarian informasi sehingga dapat mendukung terlaksananya proses preservasi pengetahuan lokal berkelanjutan. Artikel ini memberikan kontribusi untuk penelitian tentang pencarian informasi dalam konteks.

Sumber Informasi digital menjadi lebih populer dari pada sumber daya cetak karena portabilitas, fleksibilitas, dan ketersediaan instan sumber informasi tersebut. Perubahan paradigma ini membuat perpustakaan juga menghabiskan sejumlah besar anggaran mereka untuk sumber daya dan layanan informasi digital. Artikel ini membahas konsep sumber informasi bahasa Arab yang menjelaskan bahwa “Sumber informasi bahasa Arab adalah dokumen dan sumber daya non-buku lainnya dalam bahasa Arab dan bahasa Inggris yang disediakan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasi pemustaka dengan latar belakang keilmuwan bahasa Arab. Sumber informasi bahasa Arab digital digambarkan melalui beberapa situs yang diakses melalui komputer dan teknologi Internet. Disimpulkan bahwa civitas akademika pada perguruan tinggi dapat memperoleh informasi yang berkualitas dari layanan Internet dan database khususnya rujukan berbahasa arab. Direkomendasikan bahwa perpustakaan perguruan tinggi harus mengambil peran utama untuk menciptakan lebih banyak kesadaran di kalangan Akademisi tentang penggunaan database online yang tersedia bagi mereka dengan mengadakan program pelatihan penelusuran, workshop, seminar, dan konferensi untuk menambah tingkat pengaksesan dan pemanfaatan sumber daya serta layanan informasi bahasa Arab digital.
