Abstract

Abstract            There are several human activities such astourism and daily activities are conducted around the Tajwid Lake and thus the pollutant originated from those activities may enter the water and affects the trophic state of the lake. Trophic Index (TRIX) can be used to determine the trophic state of waters based on chemical and biological parameters. To understand the trophic state of the Tajwid Lake waters based on Vollenweider’s Trophic Index (TRIX), a research has been conducted in March-April 2018. There were three sampling points, namely in the inlet, in the middle of the lake, and in the end of the lake. In each sampling point, water was sampled from the surface (0.5 m) and 2 secchi depth (1.1 m). Sampling were conducted 3 times, once/week.Water quality parameters measured were DIN, total phosphorus, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll-a, transparency, temperature, and pH. Result shown that the transparency was 0.47 - 0.55 m, temperature was 29.3 - 30.7 °C, pH was 5, DIN was 0.17 - 0.23 mg/L, total phosphorus was 0.32 - 0.62 mg/L, oxygen saturation was 59.37 - 82.77 % and chlorophyll-awas 6.03 - 10.71 µg/L.Trophic Index(TRIX) value of the Tajwid Lake was 4.39 - 5.49, and it indicates that the Tajwid Lake was eutrophic.  Keywords : Kampar River, Vollenweider’s Trophic Index, Oxbow Lake, Eutrophic

Abstract

Samsam swamp is located in the peat swamp area and flooded during rainy season. To understand the types and abundance of phytoplankton present in that swamp, a study has been conducted in March 2016. There were four sampling sites, namely S1 is in the upstream (almost no human activity); S2 ( around palm plantation); S3 (around the newly planted palm plantation) and S4 (far from palm plantation). Water sampler were taken once/week for 3 week period. Results shown that there are 21 species of phytoplankton present in the swamp. They were classified into three classes, `namely: Bacillariophyceae (12 species), Chloropyhceae (6 species) and Cyanophyceae (3 species). The average of phytoplankton abundance was around 2,804 – 4,135 cells/L. While the water quality parameters were as follows: temperature: 30 - 320C, transparency: 30 - 40 cm, depth: 83 - 114 cm, pH: 4 - 5, CO2: 8.66 - 9.32 mg/L, DO: 3.96 - 4.65mg/L, nitrate: 0.45 - 0.58 mg/L and phosphate: 0.36 - 0.56 mg/L. Based on the abundance of pyhtoplankton, it can be concluded that the Samsam peat swamp water can be categorized as oligotrophic.Keyword : Phytoplankton, Samsam Peat Swamp, Water Quality and Oligotrophic

Abstract

Abstract Several activities in the PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir in Batu Bersurat, have provided organic and inorganic inputs to the waters, with increased phosphate concentrations and have influenced phytoplankton growth and chlorophyll-a concentrations in the waters. This research  aims  to  understand the relationship between Total P and Chloropyll-a in the PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir in Batu Bersurat village and it was conducted in June-July 2019. Sampling was determined at 3 locations namely Station I (KJA area), Station II (areas which are not much affected by activities) and Station III (Tourism and plantation areas). Each station has 3 sampling points namely surface, in 2 Secchi depthand in 4 Secchi depth. Sampling was carried out 4 times with a time interval of a week. Water quality parameters measured in this study are Total P, Chlorophyll-a, Nitrate, Transparency, Temperature, pH, Dissolved Oxygen and free carbon dioxide. The water quality parameter values were as follows: total phosphorus 0,205-0,247 mg/L, chlorophyll-a4,65-6,17 µg/L, dissolved oxygen 6,35-6,88 mg/L, free carbon dioxide 5-12,99 mg/L, temperature 29-31 oC, transparency 145,1-187,5 cm, pH 5-6,25 dan nitrate 0,06-0,08 mg/L. Relationship between total phosphorus with Chlorophyll-a retrieved value r of 0,7023-0,7643. Based on the correlation coefficient, the relationship of total phosphorus with Chlorophyll-a in PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir in Batu Bersurat village in power (non linier) is strongly. Keywords: Total phosphorus; Chlorophyll-a, Reservoir Puddles, depth

Abstract

This research has been done in Pinang Luar Oxbow Lake from Mei-Juni2013. This research aims to understand the vertical profile of nitrate andorthophosphate in Pinang Luar oxbow lake. The research used survey method.Sample were taken in three stations, namely station 1, station 2 and station 3.Sampling vertical based on depth, at surface, 1,5 secchi disk, 2,5 secchi disk, andin the bottom. The parameters of water quality measured nitrate, orthophosphate, temperature, brightness, depth, current, pH, and dissolved oxygen (DO). Theresult shown concentration of nitrate range of 0,030 - 0,123 mg/l, and theconcentration of orthophosphate range of 0,013 – 0,040 mg/l. The value oftemperature is 310C, transparency range of 65 – 70 cm, depth range of 261,7 –461,7 cm, current range of 2,57 -3,24 cm/second. The concentration of dissolvedoxygen (DO) range of 1,87 – 6,4 mg/l. The value of pH is 6. The vertical profileof nitrate and orthophosphate showed increased with the increment of depth. Theparameters of water quality were observed still support the aquatic organisms. Keywords : nitrate and orthophosphate, the vertical profile, Pinang Luar Oxbow

Abstract

Abstract Several activities in the Bakuok Lake contribute the input of organic and inorganic matters to the waters, and thus increase the concentration of nitrate and phosphate in the water. A research aims  to  understand the relationship between organic matter and  nutrients (Nitrate and Phosphate) in the Bakuok Lake has been carried out in June-July 2019. There were three stations namely station 1 (around the plantation area), station 2 (in the middle of the lake) and station 3 (around the net cage area).  Each station has 2 sampling points namely the surface and 2 Secchi depth. Sampling was done 3 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were biochemical oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, free carbon dioxide, nitrate, phosphate, temperature, transparency, pH, and ammonia. The water quality value were as follows: biochemical oxygen demand 4.80-6.32 mg/L, dissolved oxygen 6.57-7.54 mg/L, carbon dioxide 9.37-13.86 mg/L,  nitrate 0.0207-0.0319 mg/L, phosphate 0.0385-0.0553 mg/L, temperature 29.3-31.3oC, transparency 58-87 cm, pH 5, and ammonia 0.0132-0.0165 mg/L. The relationship between organic matter with nitrate and phospate was 0.96 or very strong. Keywords: Oxbow Lake, Nutrients, Water Quality
