Abstract

ABSTRACT               Carrying capacity is defined as the ability of aquatic environment to support the life of organisms in that area. A study aims to assess the extensive fishing carrying capacity of the FPK reservoir based on primary productivity (chlorophyll-a content), has been conducted in November-Desember 2018. There were 3 stations, namely Station 1 (inlet area), Station 2 (in the middle of the reservoir) and Station 3 (outlet area). Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, pH, dissolved oxygen, CO2, nitrate, phosphate, and chlorophyll-a concentration. The concentration of chlorophyll-a indicates that the extensive fishing’s carrying capacity of the reservoir was 0.31 tons/year. Water quality parameters were as follows: transparency ranges from 66.7-106.8 cm, temperature   28-29°C, pH 6, dissolved oxygen 2.52-2.66 mg/L, free CO2 6.7-9.83 mg/L, nitrate 0.3667-0.4118 mg/L, phosphate 0.2080-0.2154 mg/L, and concentration of chlorophyll-a was 12.78-15.96 µg/L. Keywords:Carrying capacity, Produktivitas Primer, Fitoplankton, Reservoir, Water quality

Abstract

Abstract            TSI is one of methods used to determine the trophical state of waters. The TSI was calculated  based on physical, chemical and biological parameters and it is more representative for analyzing the trophical state of waters. This research was conducted in February-March 2017 and it aims to understand the trophic state of the Lubuk Siam lake.  There were three sampling stations namely Station 1 (inlet), Station 2 (pen cage area ), and Station 3 (outlet). In each station, there were three sampling points, in the surface (50 cm), 2 secchi depth (150 cm) and 3 secchi depth (220 cm). Samplings were done once/week for 3 weeks period. Water quality parameter measured were chlorophyll-a, total phosphorus, transparency, temperature, pH, nitrate, and free carbondioxide. Trophic status was calculated based on Carlson’s Trophic State Index (TSI). Result  shown that the transparency was 63-89cm, totalphosphorus 0.01–0.23 mg/L, chlorophyll-a 10.27-72.52µg/L, depth 300-700 cm, temperature 27.6-31.1 oC, pH 6.7-7.5dissolved oxygen 4.098-8.264 mg/L,free carbondioxide 3.902 – 15.981mg/L andnitrate 0.054-0.241 mg/L. Based on Carlson’s TSI value, the Lubuk Siam Lake can be categorized as mesotrophic to light eutrophic. Keywords : Lubuk Siam, Lakes, TrophicState Index, Water Quality

This research aims to understand thevertical profile of chlorophyll-a in this lake. The research used survey method. Thechlorophyll-a samples were collected from three station namely station I at inlet of lake ,station II in the midle of lake and station III the end of lake. There were three samplingsites in each station were in the surface, 1.5 Secchi depth and 2.5 Secchi depth. Samplingwas done three times, once a week. The result shown chlorophyll-a concentration insurface :17.26 μg/L -21.44 μg/L, 1.5 secchi depth 11.60 μg/L-14.43 μg/L and in 2.5 secchidepth 9.98 μg/L - 12.41 μg/L. A chlorophyll-a concentration in surface higher than in the1.5 secchi depth and 2.5 secchi depth. The chlorophyll-a concentration decrease with thedepth. Water quality result shown pH:5; DO: 2.60-5.88 mg/L; CO2: 6.79-13.31 mg/L;nitrate: 0.0134-0,093 mg/L; phosphate: 0.03-0.15 mg/L; phytoplankton abundance:3,420,423-4,293,075 cell/L; depth: 180.67-429 cm; transparency: 52.5-54.5 cm;temperature: 28oC-28.34oC. Abstract

Abstract             There are several human activitiessuch as agriculture and palm plantation are conducted around the Lubuk Siam Lake and thus the remains of fertilizer may enter to the water and affects trophic state in general. To understand the trophic state of the Lubuk Siam Lake’s watersbased on Vollenweider’s Trophic Index (TRIX), a research was conducted in February - March 2017.There were 3 sampling stations namely Station 1 (inlet area), Station 2 (the middle of the lake), and Station 3 (outlet area). In each station there were 3 sampling points, in the surface (50 cm), 2 Secchi depth (126 cm) and 3 Secchi depth (189cm). Sampling were conducted 3 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were DIN (Dissolved Inorganic Nitrogen), total phosphorus, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll-a, transparency, temperature and pH.Results shown that the transparency was 63 – 89 cm, temperature 28.5 – 30.530C, pH 6.83 – 7.27, total phosphorus 0.02 – 0.08 mg/L, DIN  0.45 – 0.73 mg/L, chlorophyll-a12.76 – 44.86 mg/m3, oxygen saturation 52.78%– 103.29%. The TRIX value indicates that the Lubuk Siam Lake can be categorized as mesotrophic to hypereutrophic. Keywords : Water quality, Trophic state, Lubuk Siam Lake, TRIX

Abstract

ABSTRACT             Nygard Index can be used to determine the trophic state of waters. Calculation of this index is based on the number of phytoplankton species that are belonged to these following groups, namely Chlorococcales, Euglenophyceae, Centric diatom, Myxophyceae and Desmidiaceae. To understand the trophic state of the Sepinang Lake, a research has been conducted  on March – April 2018. There were 3 sampling points, namely in the inlet, in the middle of the lake and in the end of the lake. In each sampling point, water samplet from the  surface and 2 secchi depth. Sampling was done three times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were phytoplankton, transparency, temperature, pH, nitrate, phosphate, Disolved oxygen and free carbondioxide. Results shown that there were 48 species of phytoplankton present, namely Desmidiaceae (10 species), Euglenophyceae (10 species), Chlorococcales order (14 species), Centric Diatom (5 species), and Class Mixophyceae (1 species). The water quality parameters were as follows: transparency49,3-63 cm, temperature 30,6–32,00;, pH 5.33-5.53, nitrate 0,08-0,17 mg/L, phosphate 0,10-0,18 mg/L, dissolved oxygen 4,63-5,04 mg/L, free carbon dioxide 11.32-13.32 mg/L. Nygaard Index value of the Sepinang Lake was 1.8-2.5, indicates that the Sepinang Lake is mesotrophic to eutrophic. Keywords : Oxbow Lake, Phytoplankton, Mesotrophic, Eutrophic.

Abstract

AbtractMany activities in the inundation of PLTA Koto Panjang Recervoir Batu Bersurat Village contributed organic matter that affect nitrate and phosphate concentration in water and increasing the abudance of phytoplankton. Aresearch  aim  to know the relationship between nitrate and phosphate with phytoplankton abudance in the inundation of PLTA Koto Panjang and it was conducted in June-July 2019. There were three sampling stations, namely Station I (tourisms and palm’s plantation), Station II (there were restaurant and trees around of station) and Station III (floating cage). In each station, there were three sampling points, in the surface (15 cm), in 2 Secchi depth (330 cm), and in 4 Secchi depth (660 cm). Sampling were conducted 4 times, once/week. Water quality parameter measured were nitrate, phosphate, phytoplankton abudance, transparency, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, free carbondioxide and BOD5 (Biochemical Oxygen Demand).
